Some in thankfulness for a good performance, possibly some because they're worried for that nice Mr. Cowell's bank balance, others (like me) because there's a particular performer or two they would like to see and hear again in the subsequent weeks. Because all but the two, or occasionally three, who receive the fewest votes from the public, remain in the show - that's how it works, hadn't you heard?

I wonder what the voting figures actually are; i'd imagine they will have been in decline for quite some time.

I wonder why OFCOM don't check the results now? Used to be a big thing after the competition fixes.
