It's just repetitive, they have no trust in their relationship anymore and to be honest, I really do think they've lost them chemistry and spark that they use to have.

Do you think both characters would benefit from separating permanently? I think it would be an interesting and brave move to be honest.

If they're going down the route of splitting them up, they may as well axe them completely. I honestly wouldn't miss them along with Tracy.

They won't axe Ken, he's the longest serving actor they have. I find him boring to be honest :/

Coronation street without Ken and Deidre is like Christmas without a Christmas tree.

I can see where you're coming from to a degree in that their projection is rather mundane and monotonous, however I can see why the writers thought about bringing in a character from the past.

She this thead based upon that - cheers http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1744006

I find this SL boring, as you mentioned its repetative but I also find it boring because of Ken he just bores me. The only thing that I do like is Deirdre reaction to it all, I like Deirdre she funny and not boring.

Exactly!
Why are people so intent on getting rid of characters, especially long running ones....they are usually the best ones!

I don't know if they should necessarily axe them. But they should either give them a break from the screen, or completely revamp the storylines as at the moment it's getting awfully repetitive. I think Coronation Street (and most soaps) need to get some new families in to spice things up, rather than just adding 1 or 2 characters here and there which cause no drama!

Yes, they have lost that spark. They would benefit from a separation.

No - I like Ken and Dierdre. They are like a lynchpin in the street. It'll be a sad day when Ken finally retires/meets his maker.

I'm not talking about axing them, just splitting them up good and proper.

Noo they belong together, they just have too much history together to ever really split up for good again. We need some steady stalwart couples like them in Corrie. It's about time Sally and Kevin got back together too I think!

Wait until Stuart Blacburn comes in OP you'll get your wish! Ken will soon be shacking up with Leanne and Dierdre will be making babies with David Platt you mark my words!

If his genius idea of unlikely / quirky couples that we have seen in Emmerdale is anything to go by then soon enough Corrie will have -

Leanne with Ken
Kylie with Dev
Carla with David
Michelle with Norris
Eileen with Lewis
Deirdre with Ryan
Gloria with Dr Carter
Tina with Kirk
Mary with Owen
Katy with Roy
Beth with Jason
and Maria with Karl

Oh. Right. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! We need Ken turning his nose up at Deirdre's fags, tinned soup, stuffed marrow and general shallowness. We need Deirdre giving him hell everytime he looks at another posh woman and bringing him down a peg or two with some pithy comments when he's grown too big for his boots. These two definitely look like they're suffering more together but some couples are just like that so keep them that way, they entertain me

I find this pairing the funniest for some reason.
Think I would like to see Mary with Lewis, she would be in her element and may even make a more honest man of him.

I don't reckon the scriptwriters would even contemplate splitting them up for good but if they separated temporarily, it might help them appreciate each other more and viewers would probably miss them together. I can see Tracy becoming a problem for their marriage yet again if Deirdre insists on making excuses for her.

Now that Stuart Blackburn is taking over, don't be surprised if that happens!

I would like to see Mary go after Lewis. He's a man after all so it's only a matter of time.
