Rating War: Neighbours Vs Doctors @ 1:45pm

10-10-2012
Has there ever been a ratings war between both these daytime shows. I love them both, but Im surprised the media hasn't created a war between the two daytime tougies schduled at the same time.

Do you think the beeb are worried about doctors against a less exposed channel like channel 5 getting nearly half the amount of viewers for Neighbours.

Thuesday 9th October:
Neighbours: 689k (10.3%) at 1.45pm
Doctors: 1.28m (19.3%)

The Doctors is good at times so I do expect it to do better than Neighbours. But this week The Doctors has been rubbish.

Doctors was great towards the end of the week ,especially Friday. Each to their own but I can't relate to people who have swimming pools in their backyards and talk in questions. I like home grown soaps.

I agree. I used to watch Neihbours throughout the 90's,00's and stopped watching in 2007 after it went all 'Teeny' and boring. I see a lot of episodes still as people in my house watch it (Like Tradition) but it's got worse.
it's Nothing like the show many knew,It's full of badly acted teens and silly storylines, horrible music and waste of the time scenes

I agree juding by this can this be due to the uplift given by the BBC news?

I used to watch both, then when Neighbours moved to Channel 5 I had to stop watching as we couldn't get that channel. When we went digital (a couple of years ago - we were the first area to go digital) we could get Neighbours so I tried watching and hardly recognised anybody, and there was nothing to 'hook' me back in so I didn't bother again.

I used to watch all 3 (Neighbours, Home and Away and Doctors). However Neighbours was never the show it once was, the teens bored me, the way Summer always preached and got involved in other people's affairs, the fact that she has somehow got herself a job on a newspaper without any qualifications and after cheating in her exams and going behind Paul's back. It changed from something people could relate to to something so ridiculous and unbelievable that it wasn't even enjoyable to watch. Where once there were strong family units they replaced them with waifs and strays, destroyed couple's like Karl and Susan, made Lou a bit part and focused too much on the teens.

Home and Away is marginally better but not much as again they seem to focus on the teens and forget about people like Alf, Marilyn and Irene.

Doctors on the other hand is much more enjoyable as to be honest there are no teens in it unless they are to do with TPOTD, the scenario's are much more realistic, the problems much more identifiable. I take an interest in the characters. Both the Australian soaps stopped trying for the adult audience a while ago in my opinion to be honest and they showed that by pushing the good adult actors to the back and making them support for the teen stories. So the BBC have nothing to worry about.
