Unlike the abysmal Emmerdale. No DVD release, no book, zilch.

Hollyoaks could perhaps release a 'best of' dvd or something.

Yeah good idea. Like maybe a 15 minute "best of" moments with 5 full episodes considered the best? (Maybe voted for by the public).

Mine would be

-The dog fire (although as they spread across a week, not quite sure what episode they would pick)
-Fright Night Week (again, same scenario as above)
-Clare being pushed off of the loft.
-The McQueens held hostage
-Sarah's death in Later (not sure Later counts but anyway).

they could maybe edit it into an hour or 90 minute episode, i wouldnt mind if they did an online poll where they gave us a list of episodes and the top 20 got put on

They should do HO: .... Years . Showing classic clips and interviews from cast members, show on Channel 4, presented by Max and OB.
I wonder if they'll do a live ep not at its usual time maybe one at 8:00pm.

What's the point? Realistically how many hardcore fans are there to buy all that stuff and make it worthwhile for them?

They should just repeat the whole thing from the start in the form of an omnibus every Sunday morning.

Bring back Bazz Fm and Rob Hawthorne!

They could do a reunion special for Tony's birthday (or something like that) with all those from the 1st years.

Baz is now in Corie

Well, since they aren't even releasing a 2013 calendar, I wouldn't hold up too much hope...

I did like their Girl Talk book, it was bought as a joke present but it was actually alright.

For their 18th? Why?

Hollyoaks haven't released any tie-in books or DVDs in ten years, and even then they didn't set the shelves alight. It's too small a market for them to even consider it now.

I love soap merchandise as 'joke presents'

I got a Brookside book about 5 or 6 years ago which was a 'joke present'. It's actually a really, really good book!

The last Hollyoaks book was just two years ago and there were three in 2006. Apparently they released a fitness DVD in 2004, too. But you're right, there's no market for them at the moment. The show isn't been pulling in enough viewers with it being relatively free to watch so I can't see many people buying Hollyoaks DVDs or books, especially not for their 18th birthday.

tracystapes - is there a reason why you feel their 18th anniversary is particularly important? If the show is still around for its 20th and is in good shape, that's when you should be demanding merchandise.

I think because for birthdays, 18 is a big number, finally an adult, etc etc and since HO is aimed for teenagers/young adults 18 makes more sense than 20 IMO.

Not anything actually related to the show though, but I will concede that yes they did commission three novels on big Hollyoaks storylines (one was the highly popular Becca and Justin affair if I remember correctly) prior to Kirkwood's regeneration of the show.

But there has been nothing released during the new era of Hollyoaks, it's a shame they couldn't even justify releasing the annual self-contained spin-offs on DVD.
