Erm... I think you'll find the clue is in the press release!

Top Hat is a musical with tons of dancing in it... It's very Ginger and Fred so very apt for scd!

I'd love to go and see Top Hat so I'm looking forward to this. It doesn't matter if he is charismatic or not as long as he can dance and apparently he's very good in the show.

I like Tom and his showdance with Camilla is still my all time favourite dance on SCD. After that dance I picked up the phone to vote for the one and only time that series and voted for him!

I've also heard he is brilliant in Top Hat, so I'm looking forward to see him back on the show.

My Mum saw him in White Christmas - and she was blown away with his dancing

And said he was nice guy with it - she got chance to meet him when she was waiting with her friends for a taxi

Out of curiosity Buddy B, which was your favourite ever dance then?

Have to say it was a stupendous show dance, wish they would all do something similar instead of 'how many lifts can we get in one routine"?

Sorry, I don't know why I read your post as "second favourite"!!!

Camilla excelled herself with that showdance - it had everything - great dancing from an amazing partnership and it had a wow factor that no other showdance has ever had for me

Wonder if Camilla will comd back to watch

Has he already returned to dance on the show? I don't remember that at all.

It's perfectly appropriate to have him on the show, not as a former winner per se, but as the current star of a West End musical. Works for me.

Tom Chambers has used the training he got on the show to good effect and furthered his career. He wasn't my favourite by a long shot, but good on him; they work hard enough, so it's a shame to squander those blisters by throwing away the cuban heels. Have other celebrity contestants capitalised on their newly-acquired dance expertise in the same way? The only ones I can think of would be Jill Halfpenny, Ali Bastian and Kara Tointon. Oh, and Ricky Whittle and Mark Foster, I suppose, who have 'come back' to appear on the Strictly tour, although I don't know if that counts as furthering their careers.

I think he and Camilla reprised their showdance on show 1 of series 7- but since the he has not been back

I am delighted he is returning.....now if they could get Camilla back for a one off too

And while we are at it can we have Cola reunited for that Charleston

Before Tom and Camilla's show dance, my favourite dance of all time was probably

Alesha and Matt's Viennese Waltz or Alesha and Matt's Waltz in the final

footygirl IIRC Tom and Camilla didn't reprise their dance and it was the first time the current champions were not invited back. I could be wrong though.

Ah, that would be the 'champions' dance', then, which I think was dropped pretty smartish - Cola didn't inflict their Charleston on us at the beginning of Series 8.

* Think you meant Series 7.

Yeah that is the one - it is a shame they dropped that idea because it was always good to see the reigning champions - especially with a dance of amazing quality

Yes I edited

Tom came back in Series 7, not episode 1 I think, but they did a tribute to Sweet Charity early in the series, so the Professionals danced to Big Spender and Rhythm of Life, and then, having obviously danced to If My Friends Could See Me Now, Tom and Camilla came back.

Out of all the horrendously smug people they could bring back, i never found Tom that overbearing. I admit, before my irrational love of Flavia came along, I was always a Camilla fan, and was sort of urging her on each series, so I probably came to love Tom through loving her, but I thought he Rachel and Austin, had he beaten Lisa in the quarter final Dance Off, would have been the strongest final out of any series up to that point (and to be fair, Lisa wasn't that bad! It only annoys me about her route to the final more than her ability, personally) So I'm quite glad he's back, especially doing Top Hat, sorry Anti-Tom-ists XD x

That's how I remember it and in the Final of series 7, Tess sat down to chat to someone (can't remember who) and basically snubbed Tom with a quick "Oh there's Tom, last series' winner" and then turned her back on him.
I got the impression that Camiila couldn't be there that night hence they didn't reprise the Showdance?

I didn't see Tom as smug at all - that all stemmed from a comment Craig made about a smug expression on his face during one of the performances.

The Tom/Austin competition got me hooked on Strictly - I've got a lot of time for the guy and it's gonna be fab to see him dance again

Top Hat is new to the West End so what better way to gain publicity. I'm happy as we we couldn't decide whether to buy tickets for Top Hat or Caberet? We picked the latter but I get to see a bit of dancing for free from the former. Plus I liked smugly snuggly Tom who could fill my cance card any time!!

They reprised the showdance in week 1, not the final as they usually did, because Camilla wasn't going to be available for the final. The next year they did away with the "last year's champion's dance" altogether.

Well said sofacat, I totally agree with you!

Never could stand him!!!

When he was competing I actually commented on here that he was far better suited to the stage than the ballroom! Shame he didn't choose to stay there.

Nice to know I'm keeping up my 100% record of disagreeing with every single one of sofakat's opinions

I'm going to enjoy seeing Tom back - I rated him from the first dance of his series and never really got the whole 'smug' rubbish...or, for that matter, the Austin-worship

I really didn't like him when he was on the show, I just found him too much up his own backside, and I disliked him even more afterwards, due to this article:

http://www.whatsontv.co.uk/reality/s...how-fake/10648

He prentended he couldn't dance?!?! Well, he did a brilliant impression of it, that's for sure.

It might be my memory , but I don't remember Tom and Camilla ever coming back to dance their showdance.

I wasn't a Tom fan, but I don't see much wrong with that article tbh. He's just talking about his experience and that's how it was for him. The article seems to be fluffing up what he said to make it sound more shocking than it really is. I've read much worse said by celebs after the show. Just saying.

They definitely did - it was the Saturday show in week 1 during the performances/results gap.

You're right, must worse things have been said by other celebs, he is by no means the worst offender. It was that last comment about how he pretended he couldn't dance that did it for me.
