I have a PS2 and Xbox 360 and want to buy some old games, but need some help.

Is it better to buy an Xbox game that plays on the Xbox 360, or just simply buying the PS2 game to play on the PS2 console. Is one better than the other or does it not make a difference?

You're talking about a very big gap there, the original Xbox was heaps more powerful than a PS2 and it depends if the game was coded to take advantage of that, for example, Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City were redone with better models for vehicles and in GTA3's case, higher resolution textures for the whole city. San Andreas, not so much, it was a rough port of the PC version and it's missing some graphical features of the PS2 version such as blurred rotor blades and ambient reflections.

The Xbox 360 should be able to play most Xbox games, but again, just do a check on the game, there are some which has errors and slow downs, etc and some that just refuse to work.

All I can say is, if the Xbox version did have better things, then go for the Xbox version and play it on your Xbox 360, but if there's barely any difference, then check the performance on the Xbox 360 to see if it suffers from any emulation problems, in which case, opt for the PS2 version.
