Is Mel B useless as an X Factor judge?
Just looking at Wikipedia and she's onto her second year as an X Factor Australia judge. Last year she had the girls and they went home in weeks 2, 3 and 7 (sixth place) - leaving her the first to lose all her acts. This year she's been given the boys who have gone home week 1 and 4 so far, leaving her the only judge with one contestant. Her remaining contestant is the least likely to win of the remaining 8 according to Oddschecker at 33/1. (They will give you £33 for every £1 staked.)
I was quite surprised, it's not as if she's been given the groups and the overs - she's had the boys and girls who typically win this show. There's been a lot of talk about her possibly coming to the UK - but do we want her if she's useless?

Cheryl Cole wasn't a worldwide selling artist. Was she? I don't even know.. All Cowell wants is an entertaining panelist who'll create controversy and court interest. Mel does that. You can't really think these judges actually do anything significant for their acts. I highly doubt that and surprised people are so naive. I think they just talk to them sometimes and that's as far as it goes. I wouldn't be surprised if the only time they did was to film those excerpts that are played before they go on to perform. I mean didn't Cher reply when asked about how good Cheryl was with her after X Factor ''yeah when the cameras were rolling'' or something along those lines? |

They don't need to win or go far to be sucessful. If they have "it" they'd be signed regardless.

Great judge. Terrible mentor but I doubt the show or the audience really cares about that. It's only HER contestants that would suffer.
People would only be watching her for her comments anyways. |

To be fair, as someone who watches the X Factor AU a lot, I think Mel has been given pretty bad acts to be honest.
This year she had ONE good boy singer and he got disqualified so she had to bring in someone from Judges' houses who had no training or coaching or media prep and just shoved him on stage and it was really awkward. She'll have her time, she does choose good songs for her acts, she just needs better acts!! |

But the judges in these shows are just figureheads, they don't actually have anything to do with choosing and nurturing talent, the idea of them being "punished" for their acts crapness is ludicrous considering the acts are handed to them.
