Wasn't this announced early this year or late last year? Great news anyway.

With the bodge job fix they did for the PS+ section I thought this must be close...

I hope they don't ruin the PSN store, its actually pretty easy to find what you want these days.

I like the current design as it is now, the arrangement has been much improved these days so finding stuff isn't that hard, just hope it doesn't go all Xbox on us and go OTT with the sliding pictures, making Indie games difficult to find and throwing ads everywhere.

Doesnt need changing nothing wrong with the design and there making it worse by downscaling it for Standard TV wheres the sense in that. Another mess up from Sony.

The worst thing on the PS Store is when they put a big background image up advertising the latest game, but the colours in the background ad clash with the text of the actual store because the tiles are transparent. Makes it really difficult to actually read the tiles.

They aren't downscaling it to SD for everyone. If you have an HDTV, then fine. It will still be in HD.

But if you are watching on an SD screen, then it will look better than it used to.

I really don't like the look of it based off the screenshots I've seen.

I just hope they keep some sort of 'list' option for the content like we have currently as I find that much easier to read/navigate than the boxart/boxes style on the 360 & the giant tabs I saw in some of the screenshots of the new PS-Store.

I actually really like the current PS-Store layout, Everything is well laid out, easy to find & super easy to navigate.

I already stopped using XBL Marketplace as much as I used to because of how much I hated the redesign, Hope I don't end up doing the same with PS-Store,

If anything needs changing, it's the xmb, it's just atrocious, can't believe that they don't seem to agree with me.
That's the one thing that I miss about my 360.

Would rather have better download speeds from the store than a redesign

I like the XMB, its simple, easy to use and easy to navigate around. I hope they don't change it and I hope they just add more options to it for PS4.

I disagree, the XMB is clean, fast and straight to the point for me compared to the Xbox 360 Dashbored 4.

+1000

I like the simplicity of XMB, Everything's where you need it, none of the icon's are any bigger than they need to be, Its fast, smooth, clean, easy to navigate/read/scroll through & its out the way allowing you to use your own background images (Something you now cant really do on the 360).

One of the things I can't stand about some newer UI's (Including the newest xbox360 dash) is the way there all super flashy with big tabs/boxes taking up a ton more room than they need to (I like things to be clean/tidy & out the way). Not to mention Ad's, promotion & social network stuff I have zero interest in everywhere.

The XMB is great as it is. It's clean and easy to use without putting adverts in my face. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The XMB is absolutely fine: fast, easy to navigate, there's no point in change for change's sake.

The Store was due an update though and I like the look of the new format.

Store redesign is due today & initial feedback from those who already have it doesn't seem to be very positive.

Common complaint so far seems to be that its slow & that it takes more steps to find & then download stuff.

Someone I was talking to just was saying that your now having to spend a lot more time in the store compared to in the past because the way its designed, laid out & operates dictates that things that took a few seconds in the past now takes longer with more steps.
Stuff like downloading things like demo's is now a 5 step process rather than just clicking download & then confirming as we had untill now.

To download anything, even demo's you have to first find it & then
- Add to cart
- View cart
- Checkout
- Confirm purchase
- Download
Already wasnt keen on the look of it & sounds like im not going to like using it either

Some early impressions off one forum in which around 85% of feedback is negative-
It is an absolute disgrace, loads slower, takes many more selections to find what you want.
Ease of use sacrificed to have huge advertising jammed in your face.
Forced to pass over 2 pages of advertising to get to the new games sections.

-------------------------------------------

All I want is a list of the new shit on the store, but now they've split it into five different categories, so I have to trawl each of them to see everything. You keep diving into new screens filled with rectangles that you forget which category you're in in the first place.

It looks nice, but is a UI disaster. I think they're hoping you catch yourself browsing through the mess and find something cool to buy, but then buying something is such a pain in the ass that you won't even bother.

Awful. Just awful.

-------------------------------------------

new store is much slower as it loads shit loads of images and advertisements.
Even has an initial load just to enter.

----------------------------------------

Search is more annoying because you have to scroll through the list of letters and can't even use a USB keyboard.

DLC being listed on game pages is my favourite new feature. Otherwise, it seems like a turn for the worse. Especially if I can't even use my f'n Visa debit card on it anymore.

the download list is the same as always but with a MUCH slower scrolling speed.

------------------------------------------------------

It is so very awfully slow and bad.

I didn't think they would manage it but they did. Initial load for me was 30 seconds and then the tile windows are always a full 5s load away. There's a couple of improvements like search but overall it is slower to find anything or buy anything.

---------------------------------------------------

If you select "whats new" you have to scroll across three pages of selected game advertising to get to all new content option which is on the very far right side. So they make is so you cannot avoid going past the advertisements. It is giant full screen size stuff for games like Fifa, Dishonored, new movies and so on with links to the content.

It is only a small amount of the new content featured and not everything.

If you select "games" and "whats new" you still have to scroll all the way to far right side across three pages before you can access all new games.

This is the same for all categories, you always have to scroll past the 2 - 3 pages of featured content before you can select the all latest games, all latest demos, all latest DLC option and actually and see everything not just the highlighted content.

Its nothing like the old store where you could avoid the changes advertisements that showed up on the side of the screen.
-------------------------------------------------

having to move three screens to the right to find the latest demos kinda sucks. Also, ads out the a**. I don't want to see ads for a bunch of s**t I don't care about, just let me go to latest demos as soon as the store opens.

---------------------------------

Loading times (from XMB to frontend - not including full items load. Just background showing up):
Old: 5 secs
New: 29 secs (35 secs if you wait to fully load)

Steps to download a demo (from item highlighted):
Old: 3
New: 7

----------------------------------------------

it's slow, you need to scroll across 2 pages of ads to see new content, and it takes more steps than ever to do anything.

Wonderful.

-----------------------------------------------------

the changes to the loading speed and the number of steps needed to buy/download stuff ensures you'll definitely be spending more time on the store.

------------------------------------------------

Got the update a bit ago & have been playing around with it & I think its horrific

Its slow, I can't stand the layout, I hate having to go through so many steps to download stuff, I think its ugly & Its put me off going into the store.

Like with the newer xbox360 dash's I hate all these big boxes/tabs, I just want a simple list where i can easily scroll down through content, I hate having to look all around the screen because of these big boxes & tabs been everywhere.

Before when you could have a list you could keep your eyes looking in one place & scroll down, Now its 3 boxes wide so your having to look all over the screen left to right & i find that a lot harder to read through when im scrolling through content.

Also with the new box/tab style a lot of text doesn't fit in the boxes so if something has a long title or has something like 'trial' or 'demo' at the end, Its often cut off where with the old list view it wasn't & for longer titles the text scrolled whereas now it doesn't.

Also with newly added content its no longer easy to look through all content, You can only do it by section (Demos, Games, Add-ons etc...), So your constantly going back & forth between categories where before you could just view everything which had been added.

They have also removed USB keyboard support & there is no on-screen keyboard either. You get the letters/numbers come up down the side & have to scroll through them up/down, It takes a lot more time & is in general much less user friendly than what we had before. Don't see why they changed that.

I used to spend a time in the store going through to see if there was anything I'd be interested in (Ended up buying/downloading a llot of stuff by doing that), But from now on I'll be reading whats been updated online & only going onto the store when I know there's something there I want.

Very much hoping this 'thing' is going to iron itself out. But my first impressions, to put it very mildly are not good.

+10,0000

with the old store we had different view options but now were stuck with this ugly & difficult to scroll through box style which i personally cannot stand & find a billion times harder to quickly scroll/read through.

if they gave us view options like we had before & if we had a nice list view option i would probably like it a lot more.

I would imagine it's probably slow because it has just changed and everyone is taking a quick peek at it.

Of course that doesn't count on the actual design, I will have to make my mind up on that later when I get to have a go.

Can anyone check to see if the store on the Vita has changed. That surely couldn;t get worse than it already was!!!
