Hate to stir up a bit of gossip and whatever else, but what Johnny was saying on ITT yesterday about the studio rehearsal, and he and Iveta being told to change part of their routine...

It's been dwelling on my mind since I saw it, but why would they be made to change? Has this happened before? And so soon before the live show! What possible reasoning was given? It seemed to be brushed over by shock from Zoe and then carry on to the next question- so is this a regular occurrence? It's baffled me :/

I was struck by this as well, I wondered - why might they have been asked to change it, or whether/how often might it have occurred before?

baffled me too - the producers asked them to change the first 20 seconds of their routinue - Johnny didnt give an explanation as to why and maybe Zoe should have asked.....

its a complete mystery - I havent heard of it happened before but I might be wrong

Thanks for the question, I was confused by that too.

I thought it was a bit odd too - and Zoe just rushed on past it - but maybe that was because the time is so tight on ITT in the early weeks with having to squash everyone in

I found it strange too, I must admit.

The only thing that came to mind, was that it could have been a logistics thing for getting cameras in the right places.

Maybe it involved props and the Producers said NO PROPS???

I guess we will never know!!

I only wondered in case people who've been to see the show have recorded similar details, although this being the dress run through suppose nobody was there except cast and crew :/ I admit, I suspect the only reason is to do with cameras, because Johnny's not a controversial character, and there are people more likely to have their routine's changed for more dramatic purposes (i.e. more "swooshes" and Ms. Hauer would call them!) but it did concern me that that can happen in theory :/

I was struck by this too! 20 seconds is a large chunk of the routine, and it sounded as if some major changes to choreography were required rather than just shifting it around the floor a bit. Poor Johnny!

Obviously no one told Karen to change her routine, despite the illegal lift!

I forgot about Johnny saying that and now I wish he'd explained why.

I doubt if it's anything like a conspiracy theory reason and more likely to be a production matter, but it would be good to know what it was because we've never heard anyone say anything like that before.

Wonder how we can find out.

Did Johnny and Iveta only start training together last tuesday? I thought they'd been together at least 2 weeks prior to the first live show.

it seems grossly unfair to me to ask couples to change their routines. The celebs arent dancers, and it probably takes all week for them to get the steps in their minds anyway.

the judges should have been made aware of it, and not marked the first 20 seconds of the dance IMO

Iveta flew over from New York, which is where she lives either sunday or monday so yes, they started training on the tuesday

Could it have been an extra adventurous choreography start to the routine?

Then when a BBC bigwig got wind of it he did not fancy risking a 74yo heart attack on camera so he banned it?

I think there were some tweets last week (from Johnny?) saying they were asked to change some of their routine, but it was never really explained why.

Like the rest of you, I'm curious to know why.

It'll be something boring.

For example, the routine might have been too similar to another competitor's routine.

I think you're right about it being something boring.

Still want to know though!

It was probably just a move that would have taken the head off of the silly man in shorts that runs around the dancers. We should be so lucky.

If only we had "Ask Widdy" on ITT this year, we could find out the answer!

If only, I agree, I hope the producers take note of your comment, I will second your suggestion.

She's standing there holding an envelope ‘Key to the Universe', wouldn't you hold your nose and ask? Or we could sedate her, chain her to a prison guard and tear the envelope out of her fingers... Will the angels approve though? The key to the universe might wither into dust inside the envelope before we ever have chance to read it

Loss to mankind etc

I'd Ask Widdy just in that instance.
