We get it - they're small

Only one week in and already I have a pet peeve. Apparently they can't interview Vincent and Dani without mentioning that they're small enough to hide under Bruce's chin.
Enough already! Vincent hasn't shrunk and ALL his partners have been short. Is it just because Dani plays a schoolgirl that they have to go on and on about their tiny stature.

What do you think, and is anything getting on your goat yet?

I didn't like the hat thing that Zoe did to them on It Takes Two, I thought that was mean of her and not funny at all.

And when Darcey said "Forget about being a Polipocket...!"

How rude!

Not sure I agree with blaming Zoe for this and it being "mean"...they did label themselves "Team Smurf" after all...

Precisely! This also makes it clear that it is Dani they are really referring to with all the "short" references.

If she did that to me, I would have let her eat the hats. And some humble pie.
Every couple apparently needs to have some angle, but this is taking it much too far.

All we hear is small this, small that blah blah blah....actually how small are they, what are the heights of these two migets?

Seeing as they - Vincent and Dani - started this whole bleating on and on about their heights, ad nauseam, it's hardly surprising that SCD have picked up on it and are flogging it to death.

I blame Vincent actually. He never stops going on about it. It IS really tiresome. I've gone off both of them and I couldn't care less if they go out or not.

She's not the most talented of dancers there anyway so I would not see it as a loss.

You can't use your height as an excuse and a bid for public sympathy - which is exactly what he is trying to do - without it getting very annoying so they might as well take two shiny (metaphoric) guns and shoot themselves in the feet now!

It IS annoying, but you're right, jiroos - Vincent makes a big thing out of it (did you see what I did there?) and they droned on about it in their VT, too. So, although Tess giving them little dolls... excuse me a mo...

...ah, that's better ... was crass, they play along with it.

From one point of view, it's a good tactic to have something about you that marks you out from the other dancers, their own USP, as it were. Because we are such fans of the show, we often forget that out in the real world, it's hard to remember so many contestants.

There was a question in our pub quiz last week: 'Which cricketer is appearing on the current series of Strictly Come Dancing?' We have a team of six and I was the only one who knew the answer (well, it is my specialist subject!).

Err ..... it was Dani who described herself as a Polly Pocket in the intro VT on Saturday .... Darcey just picked up on it so she wasn't being rude....

And Dani and Vincent call themselves Team Smurf - so what was wrong with giving them smurf hats???

If the couple themselves come up with names and things that can (and will) be picked up on as an angle - why should anyone else be bothered when its brought up in interviews with them??

At the moment, I'm finding it all quite cute. But then, I reckon Vincent's adorable.

Personally, I think the whole smurf thing is just a way for them to bond and differentiate themselves from other couples.

What I worry about is if Dani starts getting it into her head that because she's small, she's somehow handicapped. I don't want her height to become a psychological hurdle - that won't be helpful to her at all (in the same way tall dancers are told they can't do certain dances).

I just watched Shawn and Derek Hough on DWTS doing a quickstep 2 days ago on youtube. She is I would say smaller than Dani but she was fantastic. No mention of her height or lack of it! I presume Tess Vincent etc will mention her height at least once a night for as long as she remains in competition

I have posted the link below - they broke the rules but its still great to watch!

It was fantastic. Thanks for reminding us I don't accept the height excuse. They should get on with it and quit whinging. I have taught all sizes and heights and have never allowed anything to get in the way of improving and having fun.

P.S. They don't have the same restrictions on DWTS as they do on SCD. It's all more imaginative and fun, which is why I prefer it to SCD! I miss DWTS so much!

Plus how much difference in height is there between Ola, Kristina and Dani?

I've never once heard the tiny argument pulled out whenever they dance.

I actually looked this up the other day

Vincent is 5'7, same as my dad who I've never considered a midget

Dani is 5'1, only 2 inches shorter than me.

Prezackerly! I've just had this horrible vision in my head of Flavia and Vincent doing an AT with smurf hats on their heads - does not compute...

Having said that, I almost don't blame them for pushing the point because Dani has got a short neck and short arms and I think she will struggle to get the elegant lines in ballroom dances that will be a cinch for someone like Kimberley. She wasn't bad on Saturday and Craig was right in pointing out that she has a nice line to her back, but I think she was hampered a little.

Yep, no mention at all. Can't remember it being an issue in her first season either. She is fantastic, that is all that counts.
She's 1m50, don't know how much that is in imperial nose lengths, but that's small.

BTW I'm 1m80, just like my brother. We're the smallest in our family. Some cousins refer to us jokingly as "the little ones". Talking about persepctive...
