EE: Syed is a sap
Syed is such a wet blanket, throughout the whole time he's been in the show he has shown about as much charisma as a damp cloth! It's no surprise that he doesn't appear to have any friends but it is a surprise that someone like Christian who is quite an upbeat lively character would find much in common with Syed... That's what I think anyway.
I wonder what Syed does for fun other than whinge!? Any ideas? Does anyone disagree? |

Yes, Syed has very little about him apart from his boyish good looks I guess....which is all what Christian must see in him and presumably his new fellow admirer, the financial advisor guy. He's always ducking and diving awkward issues that come his way, seeming to take it out on others in the form of his on going mood swings. I suppose that's just his personality through and through though.
Meanwhile some of the most recent and unfortunate events (re Michael doing the dirty on him with his pulling out of the cleaning merchandise deal) have seen him try to avoid falling on his own sword so far, so his current unease and tiptoeing round the truth is to try and save his own skin, which is understandable. Also it must be a nightmare being gay and born into a religion that condemns such things. |

Syed used to have a sesne of humour and could be flirty when he arrived in 2009 - his scenes with Parveen were one example and early scenes with Janine, his mother and Tamwar as well - so those aspects of him must still be there, they're just hidden away because it suits the storylines that he's had in recent years - EE is Britain's most miserable soap after all.
And you're doing Christian a dis-service if you believe he only loves Syed because of his looks. If anyone only knew Christian from 2011, they'd think he was an insecure drama queen who was possessive of his partner. |

I agree completely with the OP . A really unlikeable character , whose deceitful ways knows no bounds . A liar and a cheat ! I look foward to his exit .
Don't get me wrong though the actor himself is quite capable , its just his character who has taken a nosedive

I can't think of anything him and Christian have in common other than being gay! Can anyone think of anything at all they have in common!? Have they even done anything in Eastenders apart from look sad and mope around? I can understand why they would both be sad about the family not accepting them but there's been long periods since all that where the family have accepted and been happy for them and also before the money problems and at all times Syed has shown the same mood of his character whether rain or shine. He's just a whinger through and through I guess! And a selfish deceitful rat at that! |

I've got to add that Zainab's behavior with Christian now is so unrealistic! Where the hell did it come from!?
She's not that nice to her family or friends let alone someone she's just getting her head around and accepting into the family! |

I don't think Syed is a bad person but at present he's not the most likable. I think there are a number of underlying reasons why he doesn't air his concerns to his family but no, there is no excuse for his actions. I just hope next week we get some insight into his motives because thats whats currently lacking. He's always had greatest potential with Masood from his family and it's this relationship that's lacking most. I really hope EE get some great scenes between the pair. I really want them to get mad at each other and in the process air things that have been brewing between them for some time now, but both fail to discuss.
I also think reason why Syed, and Christian over the past two years, have not been well recieved is because of a sheer lack of screentime. When you hardly see them, people forget and when they are seen thier stories are plot-driven which in process develops a lack of empathy from the viewers. Im really not surprised to see Syed come under criticism given the content. It's terrible. I do enjoy both characters though and I am fan of thier partnership. Yes they are opposites - which is exactly why I think they work so well together. |

What of anything to Syed and Christian have in common? Yes the likes of Max and Tanya and Phil and Shirely have other interests in common which may help but fundementally thier relationships are destructive. In the case of Christian and Syed as we saw last week they do both enoy a night in together, watching a movie. I think they both have seperate lives and interests but in the end they come home to each other. I understand that this won't be the case on Friday though. |

Syed didn't even enjoy the movie!!!
I know his mind was on other things but the way the portray Syed and Christian together just never seems coupley to me. Can't even see them as friends let alone a couple! Once they got together, the thrill of romance evaporated and we are now left with a parody of a relationship. |

They do seem to fall out every other week. Quote:

The scenes with Zainab on his wedding day were really good and showed how Syed was struggling with what was happening. But stealing from Tamwar, no amount of 'he's desperate' 'he doesn't want his family to think badly of him' covers it. The two things are leagues apart and cannot even be compared. This is Syed being a shit pure and simple. He is not being forced into deceiving his own family. |

It's why Kat started having an affair for reasons we don't really understand. We knew those reasons many years ago, like we knew Syed's reasons for marrying Amira. |

Complete and utter whiny wet blanket.
I just don't buy the two of them as a couple. All the chemistry seems to have evaporated. |

How? They're only on screen every other month!
We saw them about 4 times between April and June and they were 'loved up' each time they appeared. But in order to make things as dramatic as possible before their wedding next Tuesday, Syed's being made to completely shut down from his family - maybe he's doing it on purpose for some reason. His eyes did light up over Christian at one point but then he pulled away again. |

Hey, if Max can find it in his heart to forgive Tanya for trying to kill him.... To forgive Lauren for trying to kill him...

This is EE remember, no one stays the same. Remember when Minty came into it? Hard man, had cash, was Phil's muscle when he needed it? In the end he was pathetically drippy. This time next year Phat Boi will be a member of mensa and Derek will be Ian's lapdog. p.s Quote:

I haven't watched last nights Eastenders yet, but did he even bother to trim his scruffy barnet for the wedding? You'd think someone would drop a subtle hint that he needs a bloody hair cut!
He needs a proper haircut like Christian |
