The last few weeks have been brilliant and with Bryan Kirkwood now back on the show we have now heard that James Sutton is returning as John Paul who was one of the shows biggest characters, remains to be seen of course how he will return but it is a huge step in the right direction to get back to Hollyoaks glory days. I wouldnt want to many returns but if Kirky could get Clare back (like she was in her first stint, not Lucy Allan's stupid 2nd attempt) then I would be even more exicted. Anyways I think with Bryan back on board I have every confidence Oaks is in good hands again.

I think the show's been on great form lately. Just in the past few months there's been the (albeit fairly brief) return of Silas, the amazingness that was HO Later, Lindsey and Riley's deaths, the Heist episode, the climax of the Walker plot and loads of fantastic Mercedes/ Dr. Browning scenes.

And there are a number of SLs that sound promising ahead.

Anyone think it would be a great idea for them to do a special Christmas Day episode on E4? Shot in a cinematic way like Later with a few big stories climaxing. They don't usually make as much effort as the other soaps at Christmas do they?

It seems to be on its way back up again, as it's been on fire ever since Lynsey's murder back in June. Interaction between different groups of characters has improved immensely.

Thank God that stupid woman who brought the kids in has gone .. maybe Hollyoaks shifting towards more of a tratime drama? If Emmerdale can get 6m than Oaks should be able to hit 3m regularly if you include E4 etc

P.S. I'd now stop first look Oaks on E4 .. get a big rating again for Ch4

Are people forgetting that it was technically Gareth Philips who introduced the sixth formers? Possibly with Emma's suggestion as a member of the storylining team.

All Emma did was make most of them somewhat likeable! Although this seems to be overlooked by many. I think it's completely out of order calling her a "stupid woman", she has done a lot of good work for us over the last 18 months.

The stupid woman comment was totally uncalled for in my opinion.

Totally agree that they should make more of an effort at Christmas like the other soaps (it's not even broadcast on Christmas Day!) HO may not compete in terms of viewers against the other soaps, but a big storyline reaching a conclusion at Christmas would be good.

Afterall EE is already building towards Christmas.

I seem to recall Brookie never being on Christmas Day either, with that C4 used to give us a feature length 90 minute special a few days before that would always be high drama, they had Nicki Shadwick's rape one year and the reveal the year after.

HO has been great over the past few weeks. I absolutely loved BK era and Im sure with him in control HO will be back to that great era.
JP returning, cant wait (love Craig to return and to keep McDean alive)
Claire was an awesome villian, LA ruined all of BK work so even though I'd love a return I dont know if it will work after LA rubbish work.

If the only way for BK is to keep on bringing back old characters to make it great once again on HO then the show really is in trouble.

He did it once by creating some good and interesting NEW characters and amazing, well thought out and planned SLs so surely he has it within himself to do it again and not try to rely on the possibility that some old characters from previous years can hopefully bring their magic back to HO??
