i have no doubt in my mind that bryan kirkwood will try turn Hollyoaks back to how it used to be and should be

while im excited for this change and im sure many long term viewers are it makes me wonder if the likes of brendan brady and stug go will the new fans stop watching?

also could bryan draw back the lost viewers?

any thoughts?

They'll definitely lose viewers when Brendan leaves -- that's inevitable. But all it would take is a few good, gripping storylines with other HO faves to retain the remaining viewers and bring in new ones.

The old days of McDean/Warren/Claire/Justin/McQueens etc will never be replicated no matter how much Kirkwood tries. That was a golden era. But there's no saying Kirkwood couldn't bring the show back up to scratch with some new storylines. He does need to quit while he's ahead though with bringing back old characters. He'll be in danger of ruining fan-favourite endings -- Sunset Ending being one of them, announced today.

I definitely think he'll draw in old viewers, it was just the other day I was saying to my friend that I missed the days when the McQueens were just a dysfunctional family, they seem to have lost that a bit! I miss the family essence of it!

I think some newer viewers who didn't watch the McDean days might be a bit lost, cause everything has changed SO much! But as for the time being it doesn't seem like any of the current favourites are leaving either, so maybe he'll get a bit of a boom with old and current viewers!

Most of the teens, hopefully. Kirkwood generally did teens well so hopefully he can fix that trainwreck. One of the best group of teens we ever had was during his era -- it's nothing like that now!
