Tyler seems to be very much in the background now, is this a prelude to him finally getting the boot soon. There is nothing except Whitney left for him in the Square...

I don't think he'll get the boot soon. He recently got a, "Best Newcomer" award that I think was voted for by the public, so I reckon they will keep him on the show and give him a big storyline in 2013.

His trial was for less than 3 days, two months ago hardly a reason now.

This ^ No way will he get the boot after just winning an award. I too think they should give him a S/L. He is nowhere near as bad an actor as David Witts, and I think its unfair Tyler gets so much hatred on here

Anyone who has Jac Jossa as a girlfriend in real life must be an OK chap in my book

Let's not forget he was found not guilty in his trial

His Best Newcomer award - that's about it.

I think Tony can be good if he gets something too do and he's a better actor than David

And he was found not guilty? Don't see how that should affect anything on the show then really!

Although for storylines what else can they really give him?

I am not talking about the Actor but the character- best newcomer is a joke - the character is rubbish.

But the award is exactly what is keeping Tony Discipline - and, therefore, Tyler - in the Square. it doesn't matter if the character has no logical reason to stick around long. As long as he's winning (much undeserved) awards, the producers will contrive some reason to keep him there, unfortunately.

I think it says a lot about the ridiculous distribution of such soap awards if even Tyler (Tony Discipline) is now winning a best newcomers award!

Admittedly he has been marginally better written for in recent weeks (whereas the writing for him and Anthony as a duo was appalling from when Kirkwood was about, especially when Eddie was on the scene last year). Indeed his recent rapport wirh Derek over setting up shop showed signs of promise and the beginning of perhaps an interesting storyline but has since been sidelined or possibly even forgotten about for now - so presumably his award is a pre-empting of bigger and better things to come for Tyler (one would hope so anyway!) rather than what's been and gone........as his receiving an award for his past acting for his time in the show to date would be a joke otherwise!. .

I think he's OK, but not with Whitney. They are both better in scenes with other people. He's certainly not the worst character or actor in the show...I would give that award to Jack or Derek Branning.

Maybe its because of Shona's suspension that he hasn't featured, coupled with the build up and come down from the trial...

I think Jack and Derek are both ok personally. There is a bit of off the cuff, make it up as you go along acting to Derek but Jack's always pretty realistic with his acting I feel - and I don't get the amount of people on here who say otherwise in a negative way!
