HO John Paul and Brendan?
Does anyone else think it would be good if Brendan finally forgets about Ste and moves on with John Paul?

No. Not because of Stendan but because I wouldn't want them put together just for the sake of both characters being gay.

Why because every gay person automatically fancies someone else who is gay

This would be retarded, just becaus Brendan likes men and is single doesn't mean he'll go for any gay man walking. I loved JP but nothing about his character says he'd even look at Brendan. Stupid shipping!

Just because a gay character comes back on our screens, it has to be about relationships
![]() ![]() I would prefer it if JP just got on with his family and Brendan left without even getting to know him. ETA: Mitzeees sister is on the horizon. I have not seen one comment about who she may have a thing with |

I do not want him to go anywhere near Ste and Doug. That would ruin him.

No.
JP should have a storyline that isn't around a relationship, they didn't know what to do with him last time after Craig left and it showed on screen. This time he needs a big story of his own which isn't based around romance for a change. |

It's a big NO from me too. They are completely unsuited for each other, it would be dreadful.
We don't know the story line for his arrival but I immediately though he may return with a partner. Has there been a Hollyoaks gay wedding yet

John Paul and Ste I could just about get on board with (though it would break my heart to let go of Mcdean
) but I can't see Brendan and JP happening.Brendan is leaving soon anyway so where would he find the time to be hooking up with JP? They still need to resolve this Doug/Ste/Brendan mess first. Then when Brendan leaves, Ste can hook up with JP. As long as JP and Doug don't happen because the village isn't big enough to hold that many tears.....

I think it'd be good to see John Paul not in a relationship as pretty much the whole time he used to be on it was Hannah/Spike/Craig/Kieron would be good this time if it was actually about JP

This time he needs a big story of his own which isn't based around romance for a change. I can't remember his words now (it's been 5 years!) but he said something like 'We've been through all that, JP's gay, everyone knows it, can we move on from that' He wanted storylines nothing to do with sex and relationships and maybe a bit of comedy, etc. All he got was being in the background for 3 months with nothing to do beyond the odd bloke he met who he shagged - then he got a priest to shag. So basically, he didn't get what he asked for. All he got was more 'JP is gay lets' give him man after man' stuff. It probably won't be any different when he goes back. Must admit I didn't think he'd ever go back to playing a gay character 7 years younger than he is. It's one thing playing a 17 year old coming out (and he did that brilliantly) and the wonderful storyline with Craig. But JP's 22 now (James is 29).Very different. They'll be lining up a procession of men for him to shag to fill his screen time, probably as we write this thread! |

I'd hope Hollyoaks would have a little more credibility. |

No way! If anything John Paul and Doug would work the best. Would like him to stay single and concentrate on McQueen stuff for a while, hopefully be friends with Nancy again!

Wonder what they'll come up with to explain their splitting up, when they've been together 4 years. And they were definitely together last July cos we got a McDean mention to prove it, when Myra phoned JP and Craig answered the phone. Those precious McDean mentions are all the more precious for us McDeaners, now they're destroying the whole reason for the Sunset Ending.

No. Not Brendan, nor Ste, nor Doug are at all right for JP and not the sort of characters he'd be all that impressed with either if you ask me.

When Craig left, James did an interview where he said he hoped the writers gave JP something to do that was nothing to do with him being gay.

I am excited for all the family scenes and I LOVED his relationship with Jacqui so thats going to be amazing to see again! |

Doesn't John Paul hate Ste?
![]() Anyway, Ste has changed a lot since then so who knows? He's certainly really grown into his looks since John Paul last saw him. |

Ste and John-Paul aren't exactly compatible sexually though... quite an important factor there! I guess either could be fairly versatile but still... what's the point?

He used to yes but that was a long time ago now and I doubt the continuity team are good enough to remember all that...

What would be good is if Doug manned up, had some self-respect and dumped Ste. I think pre-Ste Doug, despite being straight, would have made a great friend for John Paul - and a reinvented Doug...well who knows, they could make a good pairing.

While obviously eventually TPTB will want to pair him up with someone, I do agree that it would be nice for a different type of John-Paul this time... not focused on gayness. Some more family and comedy storylines plus a bit of banter with his old friends.

Hell no.
If John Paul had to be with any of the current gay males, I'd rather it was Doug. Definitely not Brendan or Ste but I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen though. |
