Re the news that Emmerdale producer Stuart Blackburn is moving to produce Coronation Street in January 2013, I'm wondering what his work has been like on Emmerdale (as I don't watch it) and what we Corrie fans can expect when he moves over to Weatherfield?

He is really bad. Expect a lot of breaking up established characters relationships/friendships and complete character personality changes.

Brace yourself Glenda

Personality transplants- plot driven PERSONALITY TRANSPLANTS
Chavy, loud, Shameless type new arrivals
Random and implausible romantic couples that make no sense and have little chemistry
Repetitive scenes where characters say the same things over and over for weeks on end ( like we can't keep seeing each other, let's keep seeing each other)
Vague medical health problems
Poorly researched and badly executed " issue" storylines
Shouting, lots and lots and lots of shouting
Sidelining of the older cast

That's for starters

Stuaert has ruined emmerdale with the endless affairs, the amount of pregnant women, the perfectly happy marriages he has torn apart and not to forget the plot-driven character transplants!

Ashley - Turned elder-bashing psycho, marriage has fallen apart

John & Moira - Marriage ruined by moira cheating onj John with Cain.

Adam - Gone from cheeky chappie farmboy to a full scale psycho arsonist.

Marlon & Paddy - One of soap's best bromances blown apart by pointless drivel.

The Spencers - Emmerdale's answer to "urban"

Robbie Lawson: The evil little pipsqueak who provides no real purpose and would drown in a puddle.

Jai/'Charity - Another marriage set to be ruined because Jai had an affair.

Debbie/Cameron - Set to be ruined by an affair.

Rhona Goskirk - Tyurned into an evil self centered bitch who thinks everyone around her owes her a favour.

Alex/Victoria - Alex continuesd to sleep with Moira when he and Vic started seeing each other again.

Not to mention.. the odd pairings...

Kerry/Andy

Brenda/Eric

Moira/Alex

Laurel/Marlon

Dan/Chas (who, by the way, are getting married - even though they've been together for all of two months. Dan proposed after two days.)

Badly written storylines:

Sarah's illness
Chas/Cameron affair
Aaron's exit
Paddy/Rhona new zealand malarkey
Zak's mental health problems

****

Good luck to corrie is all I can say. Give it three weeks and Tyrone will turn into an axe murderer, Dev will be pregnant and Rita will run off with Gary Windass!

Oh yeah.. I also forgot one thing:

Sean Spencer -typical teenage chav labelled as the "New Aaron" who hates his mother's (Ali) lesbian lover (Ruby) in one episode for breaking apart thier family (Ali was married and has two children)...then inn the next episode he develops a huge crush on Ruby, snogs her and then claims to the village she made the move on him!

I knew I shouldn't have come in this thread, full of the same doom mongers in all the other Emmerdale threads, who strangely avoid threads talking about positive things regarding the show.

Personally I like Stuart Blackburn, I like his approach and his beliefs, he is miles ahead of the game, which is why I think a lot of people haven't warmed to him.

Hopefully he will axe the deadwood on Corrie like he did on Emmerdale and hopefully he will bring his consequences mantra to the show which should mean the end for a lot of the crap characters like Tracy, Ryan and co.

Corrie is in safe hands.

Yeah, I really dont get all the hate from him, I assume its because when he started off, the show was in rocky waters, but at the time, Gavin Blyth had just died, Steve November, who was the exec producer at the time had to take control for a while, no wonder the show ended up in a bad place, I recently tuned back in after giving up last year, and its back to the show I love

Exactly, it had a rocky 6 months which was to be expected, we had the end of Gavin Blyths work which SG didn't want to touch due to respect so allowed that to carry out, then we had SN's short work, contract negotiations, new ideas on the table, people leaving etc.

For the last few months at least, the show has been great.

I don't see what all the fuss has been about. I like the Spencer's, Dan and Rachel in particular. I like Megan, Robbie is creepy and meant to be hated, I loved Hazel and want her to return sooner rather than later, Priya has been nice behind the bar, we will have Alicia and Bernice back soon, I like the way he ripped Ashley apart and gave him new life, I like seeing a new side to Paddy, Cain and Moira ooze chemistry and potential as a couple, Gennie and Nikhil are possibly the best couple in the whole soap world, Rishi has been brilliant, the bromance between Nikhil and David is great viewing, Kerry is perfect casting as Amy's mum, I like seeing Andy get screen time showing his normal side, Sandy had a wonderful storyline for all the wrong reasons, I like the fact that there's a big secret behind Charity's back and it's going to blow up in her face, but she's unaware because she think's she's on top, John's exit was inspired and his axings were perfect, all the right people left. Yet people on here through their blind hatred, haven't even mentioned the good things SB brought to the table.

Yes Aaron had become stale and his exit was naff and yes Laurel and Marlon are an awful pairing, but they are the only bad things I can think of, off the top of my head.

He has not been great but really he just continued down a path that was started by Blyth.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything good lets put it that way the shape ED is in and the way Corrie is at the moment well I think time will tell if his any good.

But if he axes Sean and Michelle then that might be a start.

No you gave a biasd opinion which named everything you thought was crap.

Sorry, but I can't stand people who only look at one side of the coin.

Considering it is just days away from its 40th anniversary Emmerdale is really poor right now.

This should've been the peak of Blackburn's reign.

Maybe that's the problem any good is override by the bad, I'd think the feeling amongst a lot of viewers in overwhelming negative of course this doesn't give us a true picture of peoples opinions but I've hardly seen anyone praising the show at the moment.

Don't forget everyone getting pregnant (I suppose Corrie already has that though)

I also hope Corrie fans are ready for some characters becoming saint like, while all the characters who dare to point out that they have done wrong, to made out like complete and utter villains(when they have always been quite nice in the past)

I'm sure Nikhil wasn't as annoying as he was before SB took over? I know there was a slight build-up with GB at the helm, for example nikhil eating healthier, cutting down on alcohol etc. But overnight he seems to have become obsessed with germs, healthy eating and exercise and has even criticised his girfriend over her weight many times. - He even fed a sausage roll to the Dingle's dog cause he didnt wanna eat it....

I mean to go to your physiotherapist and have every single test possible on your fitness because you didnt come first ina fun run is a bit mad too...

Listen what Stuart Blackburn has tought us is that a mental illness storyline just isnt that good without the aid of some random Loan Sharks to spice up the drama!
