Is there a source or link to keep track of training hours for each couple.

There is a press story today suggesting that Jerry is only doing the minimum number of hours to fulfill her contract. I just wondered how much time some of the couples were putting in and whether the better dancers were putting in more.

I don't think there is. Interesting question though i.e do the celebs have to put in a min number of hours training . We know some of them take it very seriously and can put in up to 6 hours a day whilst a few like Jerry and I think Nancy want to do as little as possible.

Then again the pros are on a fixed contract and I suppose have to put in as much hours as the celeb demands even if that means working on a Sunday.

I was always under the impression that the celebs had to arrange training hours themselves, around any other commitments they may have. I think the contract would only stipulate that they had to turn up on Saturday night (and also for ITT) and perform - they can train as much or as little as they wish beyond that.

Matt Baker told some Bakerettes that the celebs are contracted to do a minimum of 12 hours a week training.

However, the celebs who take it seriously regularly put in 22 -30 hours per week.

Celebs are supposed to have Sundays off, but Michael and Richard have been rehearsing on Sundays, I'd guess some of the others have as well.

When Claudia was on ITT, there was always a training update which included how many hours celebs had done that week and cumulative.

I miss that, because it shows how hard they are all working.

I used to get cross with her because any woman[ or man] who had the opportunity to train with one of the top dancers in the world, get paid for it, look glamorous should have embraced it all.

I too would like to hear the weekly stats on how much training they're doing - it gives a real insight into who's putting in the slog.

I also think they dropped it when Widdy was on. It's a shame as I did find it interesting to know how hard people were training.

All the winners/finalists have slogged themselves, you have to if you're going to be any good. Towards the end Mark and Karen were doing something like 50 hours a week. I think Kara and Artem were similar. By then anyway you are fitter and able to pick up things that you wouldn't at the start. Always interesting to see who makes the end because it's as much a test of endurance as aptitude.

I thought I was going to like Jerry. Why did she agree to do the show in the first place? I'm sure she doesn't need the money and she certainly doesn't need bad publicity. I'm glad they paired her with Anton now.

Well, Jerry added 30 minutes to her training hours erm minutes, so everything should be alright

I wonder what Anton thinks about being assigned those lazy celebs. And I was thinking he's that incompetent as a teacher, which he still could be, but it's that his partner(s) can't be arsed to put a work in. BBC should be ashamed to get such celebs on SCD, there are others, less known, who would appreciate it more. I am not sure how much of Jerry's posturing I can stand either. I think I saw it all by now.

but there is a point when it doesn't matter how hard you train you are not going to learn anything any more and also no matter how hard you train if you are rubbish , you are rubbish anyway. I seem to remember Craig Kelly doing a massive amount of training

to be honest as a teacher he should be enthusing and making Jerry see that she needs to do. It doesn't mind whether she is naturally lazy he needs to crack the whip a lot more

I think it's a case of "Do you know who I am?" (how could I ever forget) "I do not have to be here". I think it's a deal, BBC gets a big-ish name in their lineup and Jerry gets to hog some limelight.

Jerry is 57? so she's unlikely to change her habits/whole personality now unless she wants to. Nobody can work miracles, least of all Anton.

I think it's about each celeb achieving their potential. Jerry is never going to top the leaderboard, but it's a bit of an insult to the fans to have such a lazy attitude at the very beginning.

I absolutely agree that teachers need to enthuse their students, but I honestly can't tell from the few seconds of training footage shown (and those few seconds being typically focused on goofing around rather than training) whether Anton (or indeed any of the pros) does this or not.
At the end of the day, if the thought of messing up in front of millions of people doesn't provide a celeb sufficient incentive to train every available hour, then I really don't know what a teacher can say to change this.

She has admitted to being lazy I think she might go home tommo as people appreciate Johnny Ball at least trying she really isn't putting in the hours according to reports.

If Anton wanted hard-working celebs, he should actually try to improve his own bloody dancing and not diss 50% of the dance forms - i.e. the ones he doesn't like. So Anton's hardly in a position to be annoyed that his partners are lazy.

I have no idea if I'm right but I've always felt Anton is given people who won't go far so he can be on standby (understudy) to take over if Bruce takes ill. That's what I think anyway but I'm probably wrong.

I think he's given comedy contestants because he's a comedy pro, basically - as he demonstrated so aptly with BoD.

That's exactly what I think too, he's been promised the job in the future IMO.

Most of the Strictly pros are primarily Latin specialists, but they have all upped their game ballroom-wise, if necessary by gettting in outside help until some one 'em are now really good ballroom dancers as well. Anton should have followed their example and got Latin help for both himself & his celeb partners.

Unfortunately, he is not alone among ballroom dancers who tend to look down on Latin; they used to call Latin "Party Dancing" and regrettably some of 'em still do.

I think so and I think he would be great at it I'm sorry David I don't know how to multiquote but I think his comic timing will make him a great host when Bruce retires and I think they do a lot of forward planning.

From what I've heard Louis actually tires out Flavia and despite Victoria's early problems she can also put the hours in without flagging.
