Not because Derek is a good character - he's not - but because they brought in this promising character, pushed him in everyone's faces, built him up to nothing, and didn't actually cement him with any big or interesting story that befitted a 'huge' character like his screen-time would suggest. I just sort of figured that maybe they'd get their act together and give him something proper to do, with a proper story to get his teeth in to, but no: he was an incessant bit-player in other people's stories that ended up becoming completely irrelevant.

I'm glad Jamie Foreman is leaving: he's a much better actor than this and he deserves something better, that actually lets him act. Hopefully he'll play a proper baddie in something soon.”

I agree Derek could've been one of the best ever Eastenders characters and he was played by a great actor.

I've never liked Jamie as an actor, he just seems to have one facial expression in everything he does and always plays the same sort of characters. He was totally wrong for Eastenders and I'm glad he is going.

I'm not sorry he's going. If they'd wanted to bring in a hard man to challenge Phil they should have brought in someone younger and tougher.
They are both too alike...career criminals past their sell by date.

I am pleased he is off. I never liked the actor in other things but I was prepared to give him a chance on EE....for me he failed. Sooner he is off the better.

However official court documentation show he has had his child benefit payments cut due to him leaving the show. So I think it is safe to asssume he is going It would not have gone to court otherwise. Sometimes you can safely assume something.

I don't like the actor and I don't like the character he plays so I'm glad he's leaving. He has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

im very happy he is going, watching eastenders is depressing enough without him being on the show.
i just hope they have the character gone for good, he isnt the one who has been screwing kat and i can enjoy eastenders without looking at ''that''.

ive never been a fan of jamie - ive never believed he should get the work he does and the sins of the father and all of that....it seems he is almost as dodgy as old freddie was.

Why, just because Jamies fathers a gangster and has done bad things does that mean that he has to pay for it and be treated like a criminal?

He has done bad things himself, he boasted about it when he sold his story to the Daily Mirror, some of it violent. Apprently there is more about it in his book which I have no desire to read.

He is no angel , he admits that himself . But not in anyway as bad as his father .
I actually wish him good luck for the future , I sympathise with anyone who has experienced financial difficulty .

I don't recall him boasting about his experience with criminal activity in fact that interview he gave to a newspaper was about how he'd turned his life around because of his acting career that does not sound like boasting to me.

For me I don't care what the actor has done whether he has paid maintenance for his kids or whether he has done anything illegal. That's his business. The only thing I give a monkeys about is the acting and the character on my screen because that affects me as a viewer.

And on that basis, I am glad he is going as I have found Derek very inconsistent. I can't see what else he can bring to the table we've already had him being vile to people, we've already had the Delboy dodgy deals stuff and we've already had him reforming into a father to MyAlice, there is nothing left to say. They also tend to overuse Derek and as an actor I find Foreman overbearing.

My biggest worry now is they will do something ridiculous like have Carol bump him off.

I hope they don't do a who dunnit again though. He could have a great exit without dying.

I think this was always the plan but I do think the writing for him has been very inconsistent and patchy.Hes a bad man but nowhere near as evil as we were told when he was first cast.

Glad he is going but I hope they dont kill him off because he`s a good character .

Not convinced he'll go via a whodunnit amongst the square. I just think going straight from the mystery thing with Kat onto a murder whodunnit will be a bit overkill. He will either get killed via something to do with the big secret with Max (especially after telling Max last week to leave it to him and he will take care of it) or he'll end up back inside, seeing as they have made a big point of him being out on licence.

Glad he's leaving. His scenes with his daughter and sister make my skin crawl.

I predict Derek will fake his own death

He will be back in a couple of years when the heat is off

You do realise that actors know what they are getting into, acting is a hard business and that there are often times when ever the best actors struggle to find work. It's their choice to go into that business, if they wanted better stability then they certainly wouldn't have taken up acting as a career.

Don't throw on the guilt at me about Jamie losing his job. i wasn't the one who sacked him.I don't like the character and I am glad he is leaving. I'm not going to deny that. It doesn't mean I want to see Jamie out on the streets eating out of dustbins.”

I would also add that Jamie is hardly some nobody actor, he has actually done a lot of work in films and TV. He is currently one of the main people in perhaps the most watched soap in the UK. I really dont think he will be struggling, unless he is like the guy who played Les in Corrie....then its just funny.

Eastenders is a big cocktease at the moment, I could totally see them going for another whodunnit, they love dragging out storylines.
