Thought it was hilarious! A load of young people singing to the proclaimers and some other old guy singing after them!! Is that all ED could get to sing?! Bob swinging his arms around-embarrassing, Red Cotton from Neighbours would have fit right in!!

I don't understand why TPTB up at Emmerdale are so obsessed with making the show look all hip and modern?

I thought the festival was quite well done especially considering that they had to change the entire filming process as they had been wanting to film at a real festival during the summer which was cancelled due to the rain. I'm guessing that originally it was meant to happen a few weeks ago.

Exactly. Once the Morrisons MFest was cancelled in July, ED suddenly had to come up with a Festival from scratch, to film in August, which they did.

Considering the little time they had, and considering SFG (and Proclaimers) don't come cheap, plus the lesser acts, extras etc, I think they did a really good job of it.

Hell, it's a sl in a soap, with about 15 mins footage - why on earth were people expecting Glastonbury fgs?

That old jarvis cocker lookalike was a personal highlight of mine!
To be fair, they've planning it months so they should of really been able to get some better acts, obviously no one was expecting the killers but are you telling me ITV could only stretch to the proclaimers for one of its flagship shows 40th birthday?

It was cringe worthy, but like others have said, this was thrown together at the last moment, and they would have to pay the bands directly this time which ups the costs dramatically. Not sure the Emmerdale budget could handle hiring Lady Gaga. The rest of the year would just be Bob serving coffee to homeless people as the rest of the cast and the entire set would have to be sold off in order to pay for it haha.

The only plan was to film the actual MFest, which was only cancelled due to bad weather in JULY. They then had to come up with a Festival of their own, from scratch, to be filmed in August.

I think they did a pretty good job considering this was just 15 mins of footage in a soap. The Festival was only ever part of the sl.

I'd rather watch a group of Nursery kids peform the songs of Elvis at HomeFields than see Red Cotton!

This is pretty much my take of it i did laugh and cringe all the way through it but when you stop and look at the bigger picture the show did well to pull it off the way it did!

It was really good, although Bob dancing and the choice of music was a bit silly. Next year get some decent music on like The Coral or Kasabian lol.

Next year. next year, please, I hope the legacy dies and will never feature again, otherwise we will still have Megan and poisoned dwarf lurking around our screens. They made 250k profit just from ticket sales alone *falls over laughing* so we don't need another festival

There is probably going to be one though, I read they want to make it an annual thing

I cringed during the whole thing to be honest!

For a start, it would have made more sense to of had the festival during the summer, a festival in October is very irregular

The crowd pretending to look excited by the whole thing was rather dull

I think the storyline was probably meant to happen at some point towards the end of august but with the reschedule they had to push it back to October.

It would have been more effective to have some filmed at night, I cant see Scouting for girls or the Proclaimers playing in a daytime slot..

It can take up to 18months to book bands for festivals and as a few people have said, they had to do it all last minute due to the cancellation of another fest, so to achieve what they did was really good.

I love The Proclaimers!

Anyway, they wouldn't have turned over £250,000 profit with any more expensive performers!
