I ended up eating three huge bowls of that cabbage soup over three days, three times followed hours later by excruciating pains.
![]() It wasn't wasted, but I nearly was.

Better out than in, snowbes!
![]() There are a few of us who have been in your position; my Mum had dementia for a number of years before she died and we had a hell of a job convincing my Dad to get care in. They were a lot younger than yours, too, so I really do understand how worrying it is. Like KJ says, always feel you can spill it here ![]() jra - we understand. And thanks for explaining. You're a good lad. Batty - well done! *applause* ![]() *waves to plummie* ![]() Here, it's been a busy day - housework and swimming and Costa's - and suddenly the weekend is all done and it's bak in the jug agane... *sigh* |

Grumpies rock
Yep, even the boys ![]() This one's rocking quietly in a corner ... it's been one of those weeks. I'm looking forward to the week ahead and not just because of the Dr Who anniversary episode next weekend ![]() SnOwBes - I can't add much to what the others have said except nod, offer hugely sympathetic hugs and allow you to thrash me at Scrabble

(((Us)))
Sad - that was a late night! Eek. I had an earlyish one for a change and I don't even mind it being Monday morning. I've promised myself a much needed slower week and all I've planned for today is a bit of food shopping and a major tidy up. But absolutely no proper work of any kind. Bliss. |

I've finally been given a permanent part-time contract at work. Only guarantees 20 hours a week but hopefully I'll continue to get way more than that. At least now I'll (a) accrue holiday and sick leave and (b) be guaranteed a minimum pay each week, as things stand if bad weather hits and the roads get cut off, then my work stops. Last winter I had a couple of weeks where I hardly got paid anything. 20 hours isn't enough on an ongoing basis, but it would pay my rent and food. I've been getting around 36 hours on average for the last few months, so hopefully it will stay at around that figure.
They've been promising me this for a few weeks now, but it was all finally sorted today. I'm pleased

Was at one of the local shops this morning and a sparky was fixing an electrical fault behind one of the illuminated shop signs.
When he was putting the panel back, he dropped it and it broke into 3 pieces. With a bit of glue it was fixed and it hardly shows. In other news, I decided to re-instate a mothballed wireless Logitech 8 button mouse, which at the time appeared to be faulty. It seems to work. The fault is the charging point on the base station, but it still receives the wireless signal and I've used a separate charger to charge up the batteries. So, I have three 8 button mice now. ![]() http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/suppor...rid=398&bit=64 http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/suppor...id=473&osid=14 http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/suppor...it=64&crid=398 ETA. My dad gifted me the G400, as a member of his partner's family said my dad didn't need it, as it's a gaming mouse. I tried to explain to dad, that just because it is a gaming mouse, doesn't mean it can't be used as a 'normal' mouse, but I think it was all a big whoosh for him. He likes the laptop touch pad anyway, so I didn't want to rock the boat too much and of course, never look a gift horse in the mouth. Everybody is happy. The 8 programmable buttons are marvellous. You can program any key stroke or strokes to any button. Bliss. |
