My massive grump for today is government departments that are worse than useless. I dread to think how much money goes down the toilet as people maintain an illusion of being very busy on very important matters.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I wouldn't mind as much if my own time wasn't being wasted too.

We all know the government and councils are the bastions of monetary efficiency.

In other news. Apparently, some people have been doing this.

Councillor Taylor added: “I am amazed how anyone claims they can ‘accidentally’ drive on the busway if they are driving with due care and attention. There are clear markings on the road, clear no entry signs and clear indications about the concrete guides and car traps.”

My personal opinion.

The ride quality is excellent on the guided part, almost as good as on some stretches of railway.

Fares are a bit pricey, but no higher than taking the equivalent journey on conventional roads.

It's a lot quicker than going 'by road', particularly during peak times.

I would have preferred a conventional electrified railway, but it was unrealistic to secure the funding for this. Also, to join a conventional railway to the main railway line would require huge expense at the Luton town centre end, due to the current infrastructure, requiring a very costly flyover to be built.

The current FCC timetable would be complicated by having to run certain trains to and from Dunstable, rather than to Bedford, which would decrease the service frequency to and from Bedford. Either that, or run a shuttle service between Luton and Dunstable, which would require a change of trains at Luton Central.

One advantage of the guided bus is that it can run on conventional roads, which a train can't, so it can serve areas such as Houghton Regis and Luton Airport, neither of which are served directly by trains.

12 SIM cards from Amazon.

£0.12 (including P&P) for standard delivery (3-5 days).
£88-08 (including P&P) for express delivery (1-2 days).

Difficult decision, as to which one to choose.

Guilty party. One seller was charging £70 to deliver 6 SIM cards by express delivery.

You do find some bargains!

I'm in a better mood after spending the best part of yesterday sending ranty emails. Just the non ranty ones to deal with today, and both my boys are here so a family hike through the woods might be on the cards.

........ so a family hike through the woods might be on the cards.
Will you have a BattyBears' picnic?

Speaking of bears, I was traumatised this week, positively traumatised, an incident (traumatic enough in itself) brought back awful memories of a childhood trauma

A child vomited in the supermarket at which I work and the mother (whom I think of as "that bitch") walked off and left the puke. Poor old muggins was the first member of staff to wander by so I got left with cleaning it up .... ewwwwk. Anyway, armed with my disposable gloves and a shopping bag of puke and pukey cloths, I went down to the bin room to dispose of the revolting evidence, the big bin is kept locked presumably so we can't dispose of any annoying customers, and when it was unlocked for me, there to my horror were dozens of big smiling teddies..... not just big smiling teddies but big smiling mutilated teddies They had had their arms and legs cut off! Someone of my tender years shouldn't have to see such things .... and worst of all it reminded me of when I found Panda in the bin when I was young.... all covered in kitchen ewwk. Oh woe!!

Apparently the teddies had been recalled as a choking hazard and they have to do this when they dispose of them, but it's not a pleasant sight I told one of my colleagues, my direct boss about the teddies but I didn't mention the mutilation as I didn't want to mentally scar her, but apparently she saw them later in the day and came back and said "but but but they were mutilated!" Really, we should have been sent home and counselling arranged

All else here is ticketyboo and marvellous. Thanks for all the happiness about my job situation, it made me feel good to know that people out there care

I do try.

I bought a load of CDs from the pound shop not long ago.

Spoiler

All for a quid each. 38 CDs (42 disks) = £38.

The Times - History Of the 20th Century £1-97 (RRP = £18)

I've got three Times Atlases now (RRP £198), costing about £5.

Spoiler

I should have thought of that, my heartfelt apologies go out to you KJ ... and anyone else that has been traumatised by my tale.

I haven't seen Doctor Who yet, I really should have but my mind was totally on Katy Perry amusement park construction with YoungPlum. It is a thing of beauty and she has come to the conclusion that she had such fun building it that she doesn't really care what grade she gets now.

Weather has turned shockingly wet and grey and miserable but hot. Hopefuly the rain will hold off tomorrow or Wednesday morning so we can get her construction to school, otherwise we're in difficulties. No chance today though.

Anyway, I must go get ready for work and get the girly up!

That's a brutal start to the week Sad!

I'm sending all kinds of vibes.

My Monday morning's been a bit gentler but that's only because I'm procrastinating, with a head full of Christmas thoughts, which is unlike me, because I'm usually fastidious about keeping Christmas thoughts to the latter part of December.

It's probably due to no proper weather. It's all a bit average and gloomy. Could do with some snow.
