Sad hasn't been getting thread notifications so she's all behind. Some would say I've been all behind for years - I couldn't possibly comment.

Today's grump is that December always creeps up on me then flies past. I actually have no idea where the last week went.

Belated birthday greetings to Goshie and hugs to all grumpers in need of them.

jra - what they all said, and I hope you're ok. It's tough, this getting old caper.

Got to fly - was meant to be getting an early night but haven't achieved that

Well done for getting in there, KJ.
I tried, but it borked my tablet.

All better now, seemingly.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Nothing much happening here. I'm being forced to have a 3 day weekend this weekend, which is nice in terms of rest, but will be horrendous in terms of finances, it seems they "forgot" that I could only have 20 starts at work in any 4 week period as part of the terms of going permanent part-time and so they suddenly told me I can't work Friday. This on top of having my hourly rate cut, means that it's having a bigger impact on my finances than I had anticipated. They really should have told me this before changing my contract, but I'm stuck with it now. Hopefully they'll give me extra hours on the days that I can work to compensate but somehow I doubt it will work out like that - d'oh!

I have a lovely photo now of YoungPlum being strangled by a python, she says it's a horrible picture because she's pulling a funny face, but I said what sort of face are you meant to pull when you're being strangled

It's only 6.22pm here and I want to go to sleep. I'd happily forego dinner but apparently I'm not allowed to not feed my child - how outrageous is that! She and her friend are out walking DestructoPup at the moment, or she's walking them I think. DP has been remarkably good lately other than the usual crimes, either she's improving, she's not had the opportunity to be bad, or she's hatching a cunning plan. Somehow I doubt it's the first option

Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.

Mine haven't got round to buying themselves yet! I'm terrible these days with cards.

Today is the start of my long weekend, so I'm treating it like a work day and got up early as usual to do busy stuff. I'm going to try and get all the tedious house-work and Christmas shopping out of the way today so that I can sit around and do nothing on Saturday and Sunday. I doubt it will work, the best laid plans of mice and men etc.... but I'm going to give it my best shot

I'm seriously considering issuing a blanket apology with every Christmas card this year, cos they're going to be late...

Otherwise, nothing to report - lots to do, got a cold, blah, blah, blah!

Sending vibes to Grumpies near and far!

I never get Christmas cards right. Some have gone off already but I've no idea when the last posting date is, or anything vaguely practical like that.

My grump for today is that despite my giant antibiotics I still have a little access on my right tonsil. So back to the doctor's for me next week. Bleh!

Otherwise we are proceeding roughly as planned... *crosses fingers*

These last posting dates are just so the RM can cover their asses. I've posted cards 2 working days before Christmas (first class mind) and they've all arrived on time.

What one shouldn't do is post a letter destined for an abroad address and forget to put the By air mail/Par avion sticker on, unless you want your card sitting on a ship sailing across the Atlantic for a couple of weeks.

Random.

Poundland.
3 sturdy glasses.
Laptop cooler.
A £20 book 'Genius Of Britain'.

My Christmas tree will be roughly five inches in height this year. Yep, you've guessed it, a quid from the 99p store.

Spoiler

I met (as in bumped into) one of the exes of my former neighbour in a pub last night. He was asking me for her address and telephone number (she's moved up north with her now husband 3/4 years ago), as he wants to see his twin sons. When I told him I don't have her contact details (which is a lie), he claimed I was lying. As the conversation progressed, he was getting increasingly irritated and aggressive, parting with the expression 'Now f*ck off'. I rolled my eyes at that one. I'm not going to let him intimidate me or get into a fight with him, which is what he wants. He is what I would call 'a surface nuisance'.

Spoiler

Our tree is a six-footer swathed in all manner of random glitz.

Mr M buys it all and as Melony has a lot of input into decorating it it all looks suitably kitsch and clashing.

My favourite ornaments are the glass birds with the feathery tails which are like some my granny had when I was little.

I'm a bit of a Scrooge about most aspects of Christmas but I do like the tree up, the carol service and the dinner!!!

We have glass birds on ours too, with the feathery tails - and I think they originated from my granny!

I can't sleep. That is all
