*waves to Plummy* Just a tad preoccupied - and that darn snowy keeps me busy with Scrabble on FB, dagnabbit
Anybody fancy a game of chess.

2013 World Chess Championships Carlsen vs Anand - Game 5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn69UGy5jlg

Complexity doesn't even begin to cover this game.

I still try to learn though.

Of course he's neutered - we always get our cats sorted, whatever gender! Specially the boys, though. No spraying, no fighting, no whoring, thanks v. much!!!

As to where he's been - my own theory is that a dog or fox maybe chased him and he either got stuck somewhere or fell off something in his panic. He's doing nicely, though I suspect he'll get bored before he gets better. Eek...

In other news, we've been out for tea for Melony's sixth birthday and they brought her an extra ice-cream with a candle in and everyone in the restaurant was asked to help sing Happy Birthday. Her little face was a picture!
Photos Of Melony, obvs, not of the neutering. Happy birthday to the little poppet, hope she had a wonderful day.

I'm having an awwwwww moment. (little Melon face, not the cat stuff )

jra - my most treasured memories of my dad involve chess. He taught me to play when I was really little and I still remember him watching me, slightly amused, as I tried to get one over on him, aged about 5 (to complete the picture, he was a professor and... I wasn't ). He also gave me my first bit of chewing gum, my first drag of a fag and my first taste of booze. He wasn't in my life for long but he made a hell of an impression!

Here, I've had another day at the coalface (laptop) and I'm wondering how long my patience will last before I start firing off really short emails saying, basically, f*ck off. <-- appropriate? yes!

Thank you, all for the birthday wishes!
Sad, my sis in law posted some pics of today's play date on FB; I'll put another one up later. We didn't actually take any in the restaurant - too busy eating and enjoying ourselves!

We got a Baby Annabel for one of her presents and the bloody thing is crying in the bedroom next door. B is panicking a bit. Now she knows how we feel!!!!!!

Busy Monday.
Freezing bloody cold weather, sore throat, lack of sleep.... bleh!

On the plus side, it's getting toward teacher job hunting season and my casual comment to Mr M that I felt I needed a new interview dress was met with positive noises.

M and S 20% off on line offer here I come...

YoungPlum and I need some healing vibes sent southwards for DestructoPup. She's somewhat poorly tonight. She was acting strange yesterday apparently sitting out in the rain all day while I was at work but she seemed ok in the evening and this morning. However, tonight she seems ill. If she's like this in the morning, I'll call the vet but YoungPlum has gone off to bed in tears as DP is her baby. I don't like feeling helpless.

Oh Plummie. Huge vibes - poorly beloved pets is a horrible experience not least because of the fears involved. Big cyber hugs winging their way too. Hopefully it's just something DP has eaten (actually, in all honesty that sounds highly probable based on past experience - it's just how to resolve it that will be - whether nature takes its course or x-rays suggest something more serious and expensive )

HM - I would say two frocks, given that one needs variety in life.

Here, well, I don't know whether I'm coming or going, nothing new then

I don't live in an area prone to flooding, so OK here.

Good vibes to everyone. My good vibes have been restored. I needed a reboot.

In other news. I decided to resurrect my ancient analogue autofocus SLR, which looks as good as new, and having not been used for at least 15 years, still works, even though I left the old batteries in, causing a bit of corrosion on the contacts. I wonder if it is worth anything these days, what with digital cameras. What I will check is whether the two lenses I have will work on a modern DSLR, plus filters, lens hoods etc.

More doggy-get-well vibes from here.

My week sounds a lot like yours Sad. Even the weekend looks like work will feature large. And I need to get over to Warsaw soon... Cloning technology is what's needed here!

Thanks for all the concern about DestructoPup - I'm happy to report that she is now back to her demented tank-like self. I have no idea what was wrong with her, I'm thinking it was probably something she ate. I've often wondered what it would be like to have a quiet peaceful dog but I realise now that I don't want DP to be that dog, I like her irrepressible nature and the joy she shows when anyone visits the house. She has a big heart and loves everyone. That's probably why I forgive all her crimes so readily.

I've been to the dentist again today .... not that I probably told you that I went last week? I had toothache which led to earache - after having had the pain/infection dealt with last week, this week it was proper checkup and clean and plan for dodgy tooth. Apparently I'm going to have one of my wisdom teeth out next week, will I be 25% less wise? In which case god help me!

It's rain, rain and more rain here .... been like this for days. Who took my sun away?!

So pleased DP is back on form. It's horrible when pets start doing stuff that worries us. Have a very elderly lab myself and he's probably not got much longer, realistically. That's going to be bloody tough.

*waves at passing whirling dervish Bat*

I keep getting more work I know I shouldn't be bewildered but I am

Hooray for okay DP!

I would like to register an Official Grump.

Boiler was making a funny noise, so we had a man out to look at it yesterday. Told us all the things wrong with it, advised us not to use it, asked us to get someone to alter the top of the kitchen unit so that he could get into the top of the boiler, we were to ring him when that was done and he would sort out when he could come to do it.

Dragged backup heaters out of storage and installed through key rooms in house.

Called our joiner friend to come and sort unit, which he did this morning. Took day off work. Rang heating guy as soon as chippie had gone. No reply, left a message. Rang again about half one. Left another message. No acknowledgement whatsoever.

Lost a day's pay, no idea when bloke is coming. Cold. Very, VERY grumpy. Bah.

Hugs to everyone, BTW - hope your day going better than mine!
