I think we all need a break!

Batman and I spent the day in bed. Not as exciting as it sounds ( ) as he mostly snored and had dreams about playing football, and I mostly tried to read and not kill him. We're now up and not quite sure if we should go out to try and make something of the day, or stay put and give into this general slobodomness.

Hooray for okay DP!

I would like to register an Official Grump.

Boiler was making a funny noise, so we had a man out to look at it yesterday. Told us all the things wrong with it, advised us not to use it, asked us to get someone to alter the top of the kitchen unit so that he could get into the top of the boiler, we were to ring him when that was done and he would sort out when he could come to do it.

Dragged backup heaters out of storage and installed through key rooms in house.

Called our joiner friend to come and sort unit, which he did this morning. Took day off work. Rang heating guy as soon as chippie had gone. No reply, left a message. Rang again about half one. Left another message. No acknowledgement whatsoever.

Lost a day's pay, no idea when bloke is coming. Cold. Very, VERY grumpy. Bah.

Hugs to everyone, BTW - hope your day going better than mine!
I've got a radiator leak downstairs. Nice wet patch on the carpet. So, I attacked it with a spanner and more water started to come out, as the nut had to be tightened anti-clockwise, rather than the usual clockwise. Hopefully problem sorted, but it'll need a couple of days to dry out before I can be sure.

Morning! Yesterday's slob-out has a price, and the abundance of paperwork looking at me from my desk is reminding me of that. Still, at least the weather is rubbish.

Open message to you. Please do not leave loads of polystyrene outside my house. Thanks to you, my landfill bin is half full just because of your litter crap, and unlike you I tidy up around the outside of my house, which I shouldn't have to do, if it weren't for tossers like you.

Monday...

Huggles to busy busy batty.
Hope at least your book was a good one!

jra - the polystyrene thing would have got me ranting too. As I drove out of the village on the back road yesterday I noticed someone had taken the trouble to drive out along it and dump a fridge and a pile of old tyres.
Number of tips within a ten-mile radius... three. FFS.

Night night, guys!

I've just seen a red kite in Luton of all places.

I couldn't see it that well as I hadn't got my glasses.

In the second stage of reintroduction in 1995 and 1996, further birds were brought from Germany to populate areas of Dumfries and Galloway. 94 birds were brought from the Chilterns and introduced into the Derwent Valley in North East England between 2004 and 2006.[18] In Northern Ireland 80 birds from wild stock in Wales were released over three years between 2008 and 2010, and in 2010 the first successful breeding was recorded. The reintroductions in the Chilterns have been a success. Between 1989 and 1993 90 birds were released in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and by 2002, 139 pairs were breeding there.[19] Another successful reintroduction has been in Northamptonshire, which has become a stronghold for the Red Kite.[20] Thirty Spanish birds were introduced into Rockingham Forest near Corby in 2000,[21] and by 2010, the RSPB estimated that over 200 chicks had been reared from the initial release. So successful has the reintroduction been that 30 chicks have been transported from Rockingham Forest, for release in Cumbria.[22]

Take a drive out to East Northants and you'll see loads. One of the small pleasures of being out and about with my job - used to see them on a daily basis. Have seen them locally too (North Beds) so they're definitely on the move.

I phoned up the RSPB and they said that at least one pair have been regularly spotted south of Bedford and also some in the Leighton Buzzard (or should I say Kite ) area.

ETA. Tbh, I was quite gobsmacked to see this raptor today.

If you ever go to south Devon, look out for the Cirl Bunting, which I have seen.

I do like CDs. Something you can touch and handle, rather than just a file on your PC etc.

You get your CD, you click out the CD and play it, read the booklet/inserts etc.

I need vibes. Neurologist appointment soon.
Vibes.

And belated vibes to everybody else.

Hope I'm not too late with sending positive vibes... keeping my fingers crossed for good news for you!

Nothing much happening here. Some difficulties on the home front which might make staying here unpleasant, so will have to see how that pans out. Also work being a bit cranky about me being a single parent and the effect that has on my ability to work late. It's only really an issue at this time of year when the wet weather affects transport and deliveries are late. Life can be bloody awkward at times.

In less bleuaarrggh news, DestructoPup is becoming something of an escapologist and has now learned how to unzip herself from her crate. I'm not quite sure how she does it. I think it's someething to do with where the zips meet, so I've changed how I do it and see if that will keep her in.
