Last night I invited friends over - nothing fancy, though I did make an effort with a buffet of cider soaked and and mustard/sugar glazed ham - pork crackling crackled and the salads were dressed to perfecto: neither underdressed nor (god forbid) naked but certainly not floozily overdressed.

My lovely housekeeper came in to serve drinks, food and clear up afterwards so all in all a pleasant, convivial evening - so why the grump?

Well decent wine was available - whites were chilled, reds were breathing and most guests brought a bottle or two but as the party broke up I noticed one guest stuffing her single unopened bottle into her bag to take home.

Very odd.

hello

how did littleplum get on??
Hey snowbes

YoungPlum did well at the interview - I was proud of her. She was friendly, polite and answered the questions with confidence, albeit she misunderstood one However, I'm not sure that she'll get in. We left our application til quite late and they only take in so many non-catholics, and whilst YoungPlum has been brought up as a catholic, for several reasons revolving mainly round all the dramas with my dad's illness and then mum I never got her baptised. The lady seemed understanding but she frowned as she scribbled on her notebook. I'll tell you this much though, the interview was more intimidating than for any job interview I've been for! She was frowning too at the fact that YoungPlum didn't do anything by way of extras ... she doesn't do sport outside of school or belong to any clubs or anything. Apparently you're meant to have a long list of extra things. Oh well, my bad!

The upshot is that we'll hear back in a few weeks. I think at best she will go on to a waiting list after the first round of offers are sent out. I'd better start thinking of a Plan B.

Thanks for all the finger-crossing my grumpybuddies

To paraphrase snowy - work waits for no man - plus firefox has been refusing to let me into DS for some reason. Numerous pop ups, adverts - must be something I pressed.

Are you good?

Just did it again.

Better say hope all are well before it cuts me off completely.

We're all with you in spirit today - and always. Hope it's all gone as well as these things can.

Today, I have mostly been knowing when to give up and reschedule. It's been a blast. Now I have to work out how to invoice what I have and haven't been able to do. I like a challenge - good job, innit

Ouch, I hope it's less bright and sunny where you are. It's a gorgeous day here but not one for sore heads and sensitive eyes. (((snowy)))

In an act of rebellion (against work) I dragged my boy off to see Pompeii. Preposterous nonsense but with the extremely lovely Jon Snow (who knows nothing) in the lead role... of something or other. I dunno, he did some fighting and there was a big volcano, but I noticed little else for some reason.

As I was getting the tickets the women working at the cinema told me they had a delivery of a life size cut out of him. It was on display for a matter of minutes before they decided that they were having him instead. I think the plan is for each one to take him home for a week at a time, before passing him on.

ROFL!!!

It's all batty's fault! The actor is called Kit Hartington; the character he plays in Game of Thrones is called John Snow.

Hope your hangy feels better. ((((huggles)))))

ETA - I'd take him home, mind you. He could live in the spare room...
