Morning my lovely grumpies

Did I tell you I had a new job?

But on a more serious note.. I'm in need of advice

LM has been invited to a birthday party at Quasar. Which is a laser quest laser shooting team thing in a darkened smoke fogged set up.

This is all well and good except! The invitee is a classmate who has autism/aspergers. And also invited is the child who has been targeting LM throughout primary and into secondary, enlisting the help of his minions to dole out his dirty work. One of his such co-partners has also been invited who only last week got suspended for the day for cracking LM around the head after pushing and shoving broke out following a 'lets pinch LM's drama shoe and throw it around playing piggy int middle'.

Now - while LM has said in a gentlemanly way "I'm not going to fight at O's party, it would ruin his birthday, that would be awful" - I'm not so certain about the scruples of the other two.

They even said initially to O "LM is invited as well? Well we're not going if he is!" LM said to O well that's not something your friends would say to you is it, that's not very nice - O went back to them and said "I like both of you so you'll all come yeh?" in an uneasy fashion

I don't know what to do

It makes me feel distinctly uneasy and already anxious about the idea of LM being in a darkened unsupervised environment with those two and possibly on the opposite team although having thought about it I find it unlikely that being put on the same team would alleviate any plans already made by the two boys

I really don't know what the best and safest thing to do might be

I will ring the birthday lad's mum and discuss my worries and thought I could ring the Quasar place as well - I should add that these two have been pulled up by the school for taking advantage of O's different needs, i.e. O looks at them and thinks "I want to be their friend" so he calls them as such and has had the p*ss taken out of him and is mocked by them so he ends up distressed and going home in tears. There is the chance that these two might not even turn up at the party but I can't bank on that.

I'd say it's highly likely LM or O will be shot early in each round by these boys and all the more nasty if they're on the same team. It's the most effective underhand way to spoil someone's fun. The team has to attack, so it's a shot to the back from your "comrade". You can at least put this to LM as a possibility so he can prepare.

Hello, folks, sorry to have been MIA. I started a new contract last Monday (teaching Music till the end of term) and have been like a blue-bottomed insect all week.

Batty - will pm you later in the week.

Mal - I think talking to O's Mum is the best way forward. Hope it all works out okay.

Sad - I'm with Plum. Ring them up and ask, it can't hurt.

We have a short break away for a couple of nights, back on Tuesday.

Huggles all round.

Hey mal Congrats on the new job!

Re your dilemma, it is indeed a very tricky situation and one which as a parent is very troublesome to know what the "right thing to do" is. There probably isn't a right thing but we can just bumble along and hope for the best. I agree that calling the birthday boy's mum and make her aware of the situation is a good start. Personally, I think I would be inclined to let it be LM's call as to whether he goes or not - he is the one that is personally suffering so I would sit him down and discuss it with him, make him aware of what could happen and let him choose. Make it clear to him that you're proud of him whichever option he chooses to take. Good luck and I hope it all goes well - let us know what happens!

Enjoy your short-break handy!

I'm tired. Had a 3.45 am start this morning because we were doing stock-take before the day's delivery arrived. I was so paranoid about sleeping in that I think I only had a couple of hours sleep last night - I think it will be early to bed tonight! I wish I wasn't obliged to cook dinner - YoungPlum insist on eating *shakes fist in futile and slightly apathetic rage*

If I have any other news - I've forgotten it

Hope all are well and ticking along nicely.

Flying high, up in the sky,
We'll keep the blue flag flying high
From Stamford Bridge to Wemb(er)ley
We'll keep the blue flag flying high ...

I want to go to a football match - I want my season ticket back .... If I ever do get to visit UK, my trip will be based around being definitely able to get a couple of tickets to a Chelsea match - no tickets, no trip! Can't believe my girly is 12 and she's never been to Stamford Bridge..... well she has, but as a baby and only to go to the club shop and that doesn't count! Hurrumph!

10 years or more ago Chelsea fans knew all about depression when we were truly pants I didn't even know Chelsea had a Canaletto room - sounds a tad too kultchered for the Blues .... actually so does sushi, I think they must have been feeling pretentious that day I like sushi - there's a lot of it about here, is it the same over there? or is just because we are closer to Japan? Did I tell you before that that is the second language they learn at school here - it seemed strange to me at first but makes sense really, in view of the proximity and links between Australia and Japan. If YoungPlummers actually gets to go to her high school of choice, she'll also get to give Italian a whirl, which will be good - there are a huge number of people of Italian heritage in this part of Australia and they were clever when they came over and bought up vast tracts of seemingly worthless land and have made a fortune from it over the years.

I'm wittering. Again. As usual. I really should go to bed. It's only 8.30 though, but I feel wasted but in a good way at the moment, I feel tiddly and I've only had tea!

It's half term and I'm writing up lesson observations - just like old times. Worryingly I am five pages into a report and haven't added in the observation itself yet so this is going to be a long one. Never let it be said I don't give good value

Also not at all impressed with Mr Sad who drove all the way home from work this lunchtime to fetch himself a jumper because he was so cold in the office... yet failed to notice the central heating stat here was still on zero, where he'd left it in the warm spell. My feet are like little blocks of ice

I do hope the summer's on the way back

I'm definitely getting some summer soon - a friend tells me it's around 34 in Warsaw and looking like it's getting hotter. Big eek. I'm off to buy some floaty maxi dresses and a big hat!

A prayer, please, for the best dog ever

Somehow my most beautiful faced and beautiful souled dog slipped whist dashing out the door to chase a cat tonight he slipped and banged his spine he lost the use of his back legs

He is in the hospital tonight sedated and with pain relief and anti inflammatories confined to reduce movement

Feeling very confused and shocked in disbelief I mean what? You say what your muscle dog has slipped and banged his back and now he cannot use his back legs

Say what? What on earth are you on about. The dog's had an accident?! What

Please pray that it is temporary and the poor darling can be strong again and worst to worst he can still have a good life

My poor darling I am heart broken

Poor poor big muscle bound darling divine soul of goodness

Please pray for him give him a thought of strength and of healing god bless he is the most wonderful soul

Oh, mal, your poor boy!
And poor you!

Hopefully it's just bruising and he will recover.
Sending you, and him, tons of vibes!

He's like the youngest child of the family... X-ray's today no fracture thank god no apparent slipped disc but still no movement. Praying it is only swelling and severe bruising but still the brain does not compute how this has happened. In the blink of an eye the world changes...
