Well, my winters are a bit different from yours because I live down at sea-level in the East Riding of Yorkshire! But I do get weary of fogs and frosts and traffic problems, and I'm waiting eagerly for Spring.

((((((((hugs for batty)))))))))

Shopping calls - back later! *waves*

Morning!

It's sunny and the weekend is here as far as I'm concerned. And I'll be home in a few hours. Yay!

What weekend? I'm working all day Saturday and Sunday - oh woe! And it's been torrential rain all day and likely to be worse tomorrow - oh joy!

Ooo, hello Dutch. Same to you!

I'm back from my travels and had a very interesting flight back.

I was sitting a row behind and across the aisle from a woman who was working on her laptop - Photoshopping images for, I assume, either a magazine or a website. She was really good at her job, working quite fast, and I was mesmerised. The original pictures were fine - pretty girls in fashion shots, some lingerie too, nothing extraordinary - but she transformed them into 'perfection'. Jaw lines were adjusted, noses shortened, boobs grown larger, tummies shrunk smaller, hair fluffed up and made glossier, all skin imperfections deleted... Nothing major but when she flicked between the original image and the finished product, well, you had a pretty girl in the first and her impossibly gorgeous sister in the second.

It was weird. I really was impressed by her skill but found it all so sad too. Something's a bit wrong when even the women in glossy magazines can't live up to the standards of beauty set by them. Made me want to have a doughnut and say f*ck it. And I did.

Batty, I salute your attitude!

Nice day here, including a walk. Went up onto the Humber bridge and it was proper brass monkey weather!
Still thawing out!

XXX and handy

KJ - on a laptop and on a plane. She was a magician.

Nothing much to report from the batcave. I've been out for most of the day and came back to a mountain of paperwork, so I'm going to ignore it.

Having a long overdue (half term enabled) catch up here too. And I have just added a thread subscription with email notification in the hope it will work this time. Grrrrrr.

Glad you got back safely from your travels BG and hope things improved... loving the photoshop post and totally agree with the sentiment. That said - I'd have been giving her selfies and asking her to do me.

I'm off on a jaunt of my own in just under a month - helping an old mate finally pack up the home she had to leave empty five years ago when her husband fell ill. It has taken this long to sell it (it's in Turkey) and it's going to be an emotional trip as she hasn't been back since they left. On the plus side he's still hanging on in there, though he likes to scare her now and again with hospital admissions, and is currently not in a good way.

Can't believe it has been five years though - where has that time gone? And how on earth did Melony get to be seven???

Plummie - I'd swap your 34 degrees for the beastly cold and damp here any day of the week

KJ - you're giving me the hump

Snowbes - you are the scrabble queen and I salute you xxx

(((((((((anyone else not mentioned in this post)))))))))

My life is busy and chaotic and slightly hellish but I have health and lovely friends. What more could I want? My sanity... that would be nice... but hey, no-one seems to have noticed that I am utterly bonkers so who cares
