Evening, all...
batty - I keep intruder cats out of our garden with a powerful water-gun - doesn't hurt them at all but they run like buggery and it's quite entertaining! Orange peel is good, they don't like the smell, although you obviously have to renew it reasonably regularly, and they also hate the smell of peppermint. You could try making up a mix of citrus or mint essential oil with water and squirting it about the place. Would smell better than your current stuff at least! oh - and I have been known to pelt the odd cold soggy teabag at them, too - nice and squishy so no damage to puss, but also cold and wet if it hits. And biodegradeable! ![]() Amica, twingle has described what i know of the Plymouth Brethren; might be worth ringing and asking them can you go for an informal look round? It probably depends very much on how the head operates, and the governing body... twingle, glad to hear your Mum is on the mend and I really hope you soon are too, that sounds awful! I'm feeling pretty much repaired today, aided by some nice sunshine ![]() Finally, on a totally childish lever - me@h, did you spot your excellent typo in this sentence: It's real and many people have been shagged in that net >fnarrrrrrr< ![]() *ahem* - nighty night... Hope all are having a good day wet this end summer is coming.

Ok. Ok.
![]() I realised my mistake after I entered it then got distracted and forgot to correct until it was too late. Then I thought my subconscious may have been right all along. It sounds like Facebook has non-consensually shagged Laura and thousands of others. TGIF my best day of the week. It's the day after our weekend and Mr. Home is back to work and I have the place all to myself. I have to say he really was a big help in the garden and it's all done. The flowers are all in and I planted in tomatoes and peppers grown from seed but am a little worried that night time temps are still quite low. The cocoa shells are really nice. Besides deterring cats and slugs it smells nice and gives a nice finished look to the beds. I've tried the orange peels, cayenne pepper, garlic etc. but these cats just come back after a while and I have to keep re-applying everything quite often. I used asafetida in essential oil form which earns it's nickname "devil's dung". That really worked but it also stunk up the whole building. I need quite long-range super soaker to reach them from my balcony and besides their favourite crap spot is by the door which is under the canopy for the balconies so I can't even see it from where I am. Funny enough, I have a pile of dvds which I've ripped to .avi files and was going to throw then out if no one wanted them so I'll be trying Laura's suggestion and string up a few of them around the place. I''m going to use colourful string/yarn and try to make a feature of it. I get very happy when I see my elderly neighbours who live below me coming out on their balconies and admiring the garden. There's two flats on each floor. One flat had a couple but the man dies last year and the woman had a stroke a couple of years ago. She's lots better and has some carers but manages by herself but doesn't get out much so she sits on her balcony for hours every day. I'm glad she has some thing nice to look at now. I told her daughter (who speaks a little English) who checks up on her every day that I would help her down to the garden if she wanted to sit out there sometimes. The other couple are from Morocco and are very traditional (she has a tattooed face) and the woman stays home a lot and cooks the most delicious smelling food. He's quite deaf and talks very loudly and it always sound like their fighting when they converse. He brings fruit down to me when I'm gardening and always gives me the thumbs up from his balcony. He was on "tomato watch" last year and minutely followed their progress. All this makes me very happy so give this to them and to myself. It's a communal garden and all of the neighbours living above me (their are 8 flats in the building, two on each floor) have given their consent to my taking over the garden and have given me plants to put in there. Well, the two top floor ones really don't care since they have terraces and access to the roof which they've both made little gardens of in spit of my satellite dish being there. I'm in my element living in the land of gardeners!

TFIF! What a long week! Shame the weather's on the turn.
I wish I liked gardening as I can imagine it's therapeutic. I'm too impatient. |

It'll be pissing down on the pissed off pissed people.

I like gardening once I get started but I can never devote the time to it consistently enough to get stuff to stay alive unless it's really hardy!
Been a lovely day here till about half four; quite grey and chillly now though. Melony wants to watch Mary Poppins this weekend - family film party time! Yay! |

Beetroot juice is supposed to be good for it too.
![]() handy - we have water guns AND those sonic ones too, but the cat is very sneaky and waits until no one's around, then has a little pee by the garage, just to make sure everyone knows it's his. He's a phantom pisser, most of the time anyway. There's a bit of a theme to this post.

![]() batty, I reckon the peppermint/orance smelly is your best bet. Also, and this DOES work, get yourself some pet stain remover and spray it where he piddles. it neutralises the smell and he's marking his territory, so if you get rid of his smell and make it smell of oranges or mint instead it should put him off... |

So I rang to ask to go for a look see around the Focus school- they said they would email some literature first and then I could go.
King's Day sound like something I'd like to try. My dog keeps the cats off our garden - but he is smellier than orange peel and peppermint oil so I'd stick with that! |

I have just finished compiling a parental request for an education and health care plan for somebody else's child. Quoted them a maximum of two hours. That was a bit silly....
... TFIF... oh pants, missed it. TFITW. ![]() Youngest Sad is deeply unhappy with Mr Sad. He left her hamster in the run and went to bed. Only he'd also provided an escape route from said run and when she went downstairs to get a drink she found said hamster on the dining room floor ![]() We think that one has nine lives, like a cat; it's not the first time he's fallen from a considerable height and survived. But even so it's a good job the Sad dog is going blind and a bit deaf these days

King's Day sound like something I'd like to try. My dog keeps the cats off our garden - but he is smellier than orange peel and peppermint oil so I'd stick with that! I come from a family that would give their coats off their back to someone in need so taken a while to see how sensible it all is. Daughter's third baby was a cheap one in that everything baby wise was 2nd hand but like brand new and she has just sold some of it on so made more money Mum although home is very sleepy so not sure if new meds are the cause but her ankles are back to normal and so is heart rate but I do hope this isn't her future as she has always been very active (apart from housework ) In her ward there were several ladies in their 90's but very little quality of life and just wonder what the point of it all is. Great to live to a ripe old age but not like that ![]() Me, I look forward to inspecting your garden on my next visit ![]() Melon I love film time with the girls and when over there we often have an afternoon watching movies . They love brave (although probably moved onto something else by now) and love the way they have given the kids a strong female role model Happy Saturday everyone. No Bats yet so hope that means she is at the gym which I shall be there soon when toe sorted |

I bought a super soaker yesterday and have tested it out. I'm able to reach the back of the garden from my balcony. They come in from there so perhaps I can stop a few before they make it up to the spot by the door which is their toilet. I have also strung some dvds along that pathway as well. Neighbour in the back doesn't mind the neon yellow string tied to her fence 'cause the cats annoy her, too. It's also the spot where I put some of the cocoa shells and Mr. Home thinks it's "over kill". Ha! ![]() The rain has brought an invasion of frogs from the next door neighbour's (the one who has Huntington's) pond. We counted about 30 of them hopping through the garden this morning. We often see them (as my Facebook photo of the other day shows) but this invasion was of Biblical proportion. I don't really mind them and they eat insects that are harmful to growing things but I don't like when I scoop up a bunch of raked leaves or cut grass and there's one in the pile in my hands. double![]() Sad: Thank goodness for the hamster thinking it's a cat. ![]() I have to go to a 3 year old birthday party this afternoon and I already have the headache that I get from that sort of madness. It's not just any three year old. It's my buddy from upstairs. She learned my name next after Mama and Bapa. I've taught her a bit of English (mother is Argentinian and father is Italian) when she comes to hang out with me and sometimes I hear her on the stairs saying, "I'm home. Help me" when she comes home from nursery. Her two year old brother now wants to visit me too. If I have my door open he just walks right in and heads straight for the piano. The only problem is that he's rather un-tamed and has to be watched every second. His favourite thing is to knock over plant pots no matter how big they are. With their house being a veritable jungle (more than mine twingle!) I can hear Basta! Muy malo! from his mother about 50 times a day and the father saying just saying his name repeatedly in despair. He usually just laughs and sticks his binky (dummy) in his mouth and ponders his next "adventure". They know that if they shit their pants or misbehave in my house though they're out the door. This must be what having grandchildren is sort of like. Happy Saturday to all! ![]() ps: Where are OMG and Plum? Do they ever come to visit? |

Happy Saturday everyone. No Bats yet so hope that means she is at the gym which I shall be there soon when toe sorted Batman brought me tea, so I stayed in bed all morning choosing and downloading films for my trip. I love technology. But I'll be taking the bike out for at least an hour later. Yes. Definitely. Yup... <-- I'm trying to motivate myself. It used to be Queen's Day during my Amsterdam days too. Loved it and the party atmosphere. I still miss the place so I might be popping in to say hello one of these days me@. And your garden really does sound fab. The kids, not so much.

The only thing Mr. Home is allowed to bring me in bed is a glass of water. We agreed on this a few years ago when he was bringing me either coffee or tea and tripped over the corner of the duvet. Luckily I wasn't scalded but there was quite a mess.
Now he just has fresh squeezed o.j. and coffee waiting for me in the kitchen when I get up. I'm more than ok with that.![]() I really don't feel in a party mood. I got the birthday girl's gift yesterday when I got the super soaker but have to wrap it. It's been years since I was in a kid's toy shop and I was appalled at the crap I saw. What happened to educational toys and crafty things like Play-Doh? The closest to that were loom band kits which she's too young for and her brother would eat. I managed to find a colouring book of "flowners" as she calls them, colouring pencils and a farm animals sticker book. There wasn't a box of crayons in the shop. Don't they use them anymore? *feeling out of touch with the pre-school crowd* |

I get tea in bed every morning. It kind of evolved when Mr Sad realised I wasn't a morning person, and that tea helped
![]() me@, one day I will definitely come and visit. Your part of the world has been on my To Do list since the mid eighties when I visited Breda for a work thing and loved it. Perhaps we should hold a Grumpy Convention. Supersoakers and PG obligatory ![]() I hope Plummie's move is going ok. I know Goshie was back in the UK recently but not sure of her current whereabouts ![]() I'm tired. And I'd like the weekend to last about another week please. That is all. |
