Bats have you tried herbal for insomnia? I have a pillow spray from Avon (Lavender I think) and it may be psychological but it works for me but to be fair I only have a bad night about once a month
I've tried herbal teas and valerian tablets but not a pillow spray, so thank you! I'll try to get hold of some. Funny thing is I used to hate lavender but I'm slightly coming round to the smell. Maybe my body is telling me something. And the move to the coast sounds fab. Really fab. Your mum would probably cope, given that she's got you, and the quality of life for you both... well, who doesn't feel better by the seaside.

Amica - is that it for the play now, all done? Or another performance tomorrow? Either way, yes, it's almost Friday.

And to change the subject completely, who knew that one could send a (massive) Victoria sponge through the post? Not me. But it's definitely possible because I got one today. Through the post.

And I'm going to eat it.

Hi Snowy, hope you had a nice visit. I didn't know you are Irish?

Bats, sponge cake through the post? Wow how was it packaged ? Enjoy Actually I did know you can get cake though post as once sent a xmas cake to parents from a local shop in Harpenden and know they did all sorts for posting

Been to Prestwick today for a wander round , drove round loads of for sale signs and figured where best to live, walking distance to shops and beach . Now just need to get someone round here for a valuation . I know it hasn't budged since I bought it 6yrs ago GULP! But same with where am hoping to go so no difference !

Got to laugh at my mum and her gob. Told her not to say anything to anyone just yet. She puts the phone down from her friend and says apparently Ayr is cheaper than Prestwick . BUT NO she hasn't told her . She is so transparent it is hilarious

Thursday almost gone and Friday almost here and then the week-end YAH!

Me@ I have started the Epsom salts instead of ordinary and I do believe it is working better so ty for the tip and hope you are ok. I know you are struggling this week

Hello Dear Grumpies!

I'm surfacing for a short while but I'm still having some problems. Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes. I even tried going out on Wednesday on a hunt for shoes and clothes (nothing fits my fat ass anymore) and found a couple of dresses that I liked and fit but no shoes. Twingle: next time you come here I can show you a couple of shops that sell some very nice clothes that don't look like either your mother or a skinny teenager would be wearing. Then we ended up in Barney's Uptown (Twingle's been there with me.) We met a very interesting couple: he's Italian, she's Chinese. They met while studying for Masters degree in architecture in Germany. They're seeing a bit more of Europe before visiting friends in Milan and his family in Rome and then settling in Beijing. We spent a couple of hours chatting with them so that made it a nice day. I love meeting new people and hearing the stories they have to tell about their lives. (Unless they're psychotic or otherwise strange looking/acting.)

But I was back to aching and paining yesterday. Today I need to pull myself together and go to the supermarket and get rid of the dust bunnies 'cause I've got a friend coming for lunch tomorrow. I may also be babysitting for my little pals upstairs tomorrow night (after they've gone to sleep hopefully) since Mama has a gig with her band (she's a singer) and Papi wants to be there, too.

Handy: so glad that the awful test yielded a favourable result. It sounds like changing your diet could be all you need to do. I've known others who were able to control it just by food. Good luck dealing with it any way you have to.

To all the insomniacs: Valerian and Hops drunk as a tea before bedtime or in a tincture will help as will bathing in lavender and marjoram essential (aromatherapy quality not perfume oil). Putting some drops of the lavender oil on your pillow (the real stiff won't stain) and a drop (neat) on each temple and the nape of your neck is something else you can try. You can do all of the above if you want/need to. You can also make a massage oil out of the lavender and marjoram and massage it on the soles of your feet when you get into bed and if you're lucky get someone to rub some into your back. HTH

Twingle: glad you tried the Epsom salts. Now you see that it has a little extra something that other salts don't have. I hope that your to continues to get better. Moving to the coast sound lovely. You must make this happen!

BG: The Poland trip really interests me. I'm up for it but have to see how my walking and energy progresses. Is the area your going to flat or hilly? The All Souls/Saints thing in the cemetery is something I'd really like to see. It's potentially do-able for me.

Laura: Keep on keepin' on. You've got good spirit.

Waves to just returned from Ireland Snowy, probably sozzled KJ somewhere in Europe, possibly internet-less Plum, producer Amica and anyone else I may have missed. (Forgive me, I'm getting old. )

Happy Friday girls and KJ!
Sorry to be a bit MIA but it's been one helluva busy week.

Hooray for improving toes and moving to the seaside - sounds delightful!

me@h, hope you soon feel better. Nothing worse than feeling rough all the time.

On which topic - laura, you deserve a medal for your determination. And the shed looks lovely this weekend *flops into a chair*

Did batty say she was bringing cake?

KJ - would love to see Jurassic World but think it would be a bit much for the Micro-Melon, so probably won't catch it on the big screen, sadly. never mind - got a game of thrones box set we've been saving up...

That kid could charm a T-Rex and no mistake. Heck, I was scared watching JW. Should you and Mr M get you-two-time, do the dinosaurs. Or each go solo in shifts. It's THAT good.

I've a plan to see it in 4DX 3D in Warsaw. Can't wait.

Unbelievably, there's only half left, maybe even less as I haven't looked in that fridge yet this morning. We're pigs.

It's quite flat and public transport is really good, and the taxis cheap, so getting about is easy. I love the idea of a grumpy batty spooky night in Warsaw.

It's visually stunning, but there's also a special atmosphere, not exactly a party vibe but really nice and celebratory. It's a family night out.

What's really amazing and the photographs don't capture is the size of the cemeteries - the two Sad and I have been to recently are huge so this display of light goes on right into the distance.

LL - cold here too. And overcast. I really hope we get some summer.

The garden is looking like shit because we're simply not inspired. I was going to get new garden furniture this year too, but can't be bothered. It's not warm enough to sit out. Grumpy!!!

Oh please can we make the Poland trip happen. Surely by then my toe will be up for travelling

I bought new garden furniture this year . The smallest ratten set and groupon bargain. But it is the size of my patio! Looks ridiculous (another reason to move !) It was self assembly and lovely neighbour and hubby helped me put it together but the cushions are still in the plastic bags and think they will be staying there all summer and the glass top of the table got blown off but lucky didn't break so now got a huge heavy (home made) pot sitting on it . I have also come to the conclusion am on a garden black list as can't get lawn cut and now looks like a field (albeit postage stamp size!) I may have to borrow a goat

We have given home to a thief and we don't know which one. Stuff going missing left right and centre including mum's expensive watch which turned up this morning on bathroom floor and no way did I miss it in the house search as was staring me in face . Wish I knew where his hidey place is and then could retrieve missing pens, plasters and sock

Happy Saturday one and all. Amica better get those fur drawers on is freezing up here

I'm sure Grumpy Batty Tours can make it happen.

I'll send a PM later to everyone interested, with a bit more information, so we can see what's possible etc.

And send that goat round here when you've finished with it. It's a jungle outside my window.

Ha! That's what some people think we do - between holidays.

Talking of which, I had a little look up for the date in November. Are the lights on the day of November 1st or the night before? It's on a Sunday and so I wouldn't be able to get the 2nd off - the Monday. Does that mean I won't be able to go?

Back home and it's still freezing! When is summer coming?
