Poor lad, I shouldn't tease!
He's doing an hour's commute to and from Wakefield every day to get to and from work and we've just found out that he's got a vitamin B12 deficiency (not eating enough meat/oily fish) which is a form of anaemia. So he *does* have an excuse.

Still looks funny though...

(he doesn't have a DS account, I'm safe...)

Hello Grumpy peeps!

Not much happening here. It's our "weekend" and it's supposed to rain for the next couple of days so there could be ructions here. We get along better when we go out. I guess we could hit a couple of museums but the town is crawling with tourists at the moment so everything is crowded. Roll on Friday.

I hope that you're all well.

Congratulations lovely melons.

I'm still spending a lot of time up ladders, covered in paint. But today should be the last day if I crack on. When it comes to decorating, I don't mind starting and I love finishing, but I really, really hate the bit in the middle.

Hugs to you too LL. Hope the decision making resolves itself quickly and with a good outcome.

Nothing to report from here. Not. A. Thing. Too much to do still, not enough time.

But the sun is shining and I'm going to take the bike out later. And I'm also going to give some serious consideration the 'what to wear to an outdoor wedding in 38 degree heat that, the weather website assures me, will feel like 42' question. Bikini, flips flops and a big hat?

Don't make the mistake I made a couple of years ago. It was a mid July in-law wedding and it was outdoors, mid-day of a real scorcher. I wore a silk sleeveless, straight shift dress and was that ever the wrong thing! I didn't realise that although silk is a natural fibre the sweat just sits in it. I was wet, sticky and miserable. I would have been better off in a t-shirt type fabric which at least absorbs some of the sweat. And choose a loose-ish style.

Another mistake : I wore closed shoes for my own wedding which was the hottest day of the year in 2009. I ended up walking around the city barefoot. So my new rules is to wear sandal-type shoes to these events even if I'm the star.

Live and learn......

I didn't get a message LL - sorry - technology eh?

But whatever's going on I hope you're going to be ok

Last day of term tomorrow - for some. I seem to have landed myself with not one, but three young people to support over the summer (in addition to my own pair, that is). Good job I wasn't planning on having a life

Night night all ((((GOW)))))

That kind of thing is exactly my fallback for formal summer stuff, so the one I've got hanging here looking at me is a silk/linen blend, but with a silk lining as well... Its only saving grace is that it's a bit on the big side. Eeek. What I might do is take that, then drag Sad round the shops the night before to get something else. It'll stop us from going out for a drink or five.

Good luck with the scans LL.

And yay to summer holidays handy. Although I do prefer life without millions of kids everywhere. Actually, it's mostly my neighbour's kids being off that I'm dreading. Given that we're detached and so are they, it's a bit much to be woken up by three screaming kids, and this is starting to happen more and more. And quiet drinks in the garden are very hit and miss now. Batman's had a word but they seem genuinely oblivious that they're being anti social. One of my friends solved a similar problem by playing Slipknot (?) in her garden. I might have to borrow it. Or just invite her over for a good long loud chat about her sex life. She can be very graphic!

That dress sounds risky! With the linen added it sounds like it might be even heavier than my dress was. I remember considering whether it was too sheer or should I wear a silk underslip with it. I passed on the slip since it was a bit loose and royal blue and 'twas ok in that respect. I shudder when I see the photos. There's me, sweat stains under my arms and a bit on my back, fanning myself with a table card and a napkin ribbon to tie my hair up (what was I thinking when I wore it down in that weather?? ) Shopping for a dress with Sad when you get there and get a feel for the actual weather sounds like fun with or without (ha!) drinks.

All's somewhat quiet in "de buurt" at the moment. My neighbour's friend has arranged for a psychiatrist to visit him at home on Monday and I'm hoping that he sees what we see and experience. But in another bit of news, one of my building neighbours has holiday let their apartment out to a rowdy group of 5 English speaking young guys. It extremely loud and I would expect that there was some damage. They also parked and chained up together their rented bikes and blocked the entrance to the area where our boxes are. Mr. Home got pissed off when he couldn't get in to it so knocked them all over. We then had a laugh looking out the window as one of them (probably a bit hungover and stoned) tried to get them standing up together again as they were all chained together. He fell over at one point. They seemed to have had a problem finding the key for the lock, too. What a drama! I'm just waiting for neighbour's return to the damage. A couple of us are going to complain to the letting company about the short term holiday letting out that's going on. It's illegal anyway.

Sorry about your neighbour problem BG. I was plagued with unruly, noisy kids running amok in Derry (they're more civilised here) so you have my sympathy in not being able to enjoy your own garden and house.

Laura: Thinking of you and hoping that something positive will happen for you soon.

Mr. Home has to fill in at work so is home today but works tonight and is off tomorrow. Woe is me. Roll on Sunday!
