Sad, I'm introducing them to the apple beer and Batman says thanks for the coffee.
I'm soooooooooo jealous.

Mr Sad and I came home from an overnight stay at a party and decided to call in at the American Cemetery at Madingley. I have passed this more times than I could count yet never been in; so's he - so today we thought as it was glorious weather it would be good to finally see it. Such a calm and peaceful resting place and a very tastefully done visitor center (sic) - not a gift shop or food emporium in sight, either, which was quite refreshing in its own way.

Glad we called in. We need to do more of this sort of thing - could only do this because Little S can't do cheerleading practice with her ankle out of commission - be glad when she finally gets a driving test booked and passed!

Me@ - I hope you aren't too sore after your fall. And hugs to all grumpies this weekend especially gilly. (((((((((((((((((GOW)))))))))))))))

Afternoon Grumpies!
Hope you are all well and that Tuesday is being good to you.

Let me start of with a grump: I hobbled (in the nearly 100% humidity) the approx. 1/2 mile to the pharmacy to get my prescription re-filled. I took a ticket (they have a system) and waited my turn (6 others ahead of me) and wasn't even sure if I had selected the right queue to get a ticket for as my Dutch is still quite limited but thought I understood a few words. When my number came up the woman at the counter said I picked the right queue. Yay! Then I reached in my bag for the prescription and took the envelope it was in out. The only thing was: the fecking envelope was EMPTY. Grrrr Mr. Home was cleaning up some papers and bills last night and put an empty envelope in my pile so I just grabbed the first envelope of my stuff and off I went. Since I feel this mix-up was largely his fault his first task on his day off tomorrow will be to go back to the pharmacy for me. I do wish he would stop disorganising my stuff when he tries to organise his. Where are those nuns with the whip KJ ? He needs to be taught some discipline! He would never be so messy if he had been taught by nuns.

Oh and an enormous bruise has developed on my thigh from my fall the other night. It took two days for it to come up. Arnica cream has been duly applied. No Daisy Dukes for me for a while.

You're here in spirit. Your username keeps cropping up all over the place, on signs etc, so I'm taking pictures to show you when I see you.

Very, very hot here still, and the river levels are dropping so much it's impacting on electricity production, or something like that, so this tv woman was urging everyone to minimise their power usage. And my outdoor thermometer's melted.

But apart from that it's great.

*goes to have another cold shower*

Grand Chef KJ

MsKJ, home from Uni, has a cold, is a sort-of-vegetarian but eats at Nandos, Dad is making soup.

5 small onions
5 padron peppers
Cook dry until start to go brown
5 small spuds chopped fine
1 can chick peas + goop
and
1 can corned beef chpped fine for body
Add lots of water, boil for a bit then simmer to reduce.

Am I a bad parent?

Originally it was corned beef hash but 30 years ago MrsKJ re-invented it as soup "by accident"; we had it with a baguette and liked it so much we do it deliberately. CBC Soup == Corned Beef Chilli soup.

Try it, it really is nice. Garlic or chilli help, replace chickpeas with carrots. Sweetcorn works too, The corned beef gives it substance.

I'm not sure, but I'm slightly frightened of this soup.

Me@ sorry you have fallen . I know the pain as mum is on her 2nd in 2 weeks , no breaks just lots of bruising .OH was here the other day sorting out aides for her . Next week someone coming to see about a stair lift even just one for the last flight at top of stairs would help.

((((Gills)))) thinking about you lots and hope the flowers let you know we thinking about you x

Did I see a brief visit from Plums? Must skip back and read,

KJ when I was first married and living on a student grant with baby , I could get 4 meals out of a tin of corn beef ( hash, rissoles, shepherds pie , and toasted sandwiches) Never tried the soup though and can't face the stuff now as sickened from eating it

Love to you all and hopefully pc allowing I shall be back for good xx
