I've seen more frightening soup... and been made to try it *looks pointedly at BG*
If you want to recreate it at home, here's a recipe: http://www.tastingpoland.com/food/re...sh_manner.html

We're continuing our adventures in the heat and got quite lost in the woods yesterday. This was bad news as there are forest fire warnings all over the place, and our plan was to skirt around the edges. Apparently forest fires are relatively frequent and there are shelters... but of course that's only helpful if you know where they, and we had no idea. But we made it back to the city in one piece and vast amounts of alcohol helped to calm us down.

Thinking of you gilly. Xxx

Forest fires

Finally the rain has stopped. Hooray. We made no plans for this weekend so just chilling. Perhaps I should tidy my room

Thinking of you (Gilly)

Very impressive.

We've decided to stay on holiday a bit longer - Batman in particular is a bad influence on me. So instead of travelling we're having a sophisticated evening of outdoor jazz and wine. Yup, we'll be staggering home pissed in a couple of hours.

It was snOwy. We saw the Dickbauer Collective - http://dickbauercollective.com/

New to me before the other night but really, really good. It was an open air performance in the Old Town square, and although the place was packed out we managed to charm the owner of one of the outdoor restaurants enough to magic us up a table (he split a reserved one in two, clever chap ) so we ended up having supper too... which probably saved us from staggering home drunk. In fact we cycled back.

And today was even more kulchural - a Chopin recital in Lazienki Park. The guy playing was interesting. Very.... physical. It feels weird to say that he wasn't note perfect because I didn't notice - Batman did - but if he wasn't it certainly didn't detract from the performance. We were all blown away by it. Apart from some Russian woman who decided that chatting loudly on her mobile was more important. Batman shushed her and she finished her conversation off quickly in a hushed yet sinister tone, saying something about an English man. My Russian is very basic so it might have been "This English bloke says I have to stop talking now" or "Tell Sergei the English man is wearing a blue shirt. Shoot him as the Mazurka starts." If it was the latter, Sergei missed.

Thank you all for thinking about me. We're flying back down south today for the funeral tomorrow, of course I'm dreading the finality of it.

I'm spending the rest of the week with my brother and his family. Life will feel very strange afterwards, I've spent the last 3 months travelling up and down, by train while I was in plaster and then flying. I need to settle into a "new" routine, which doesn't involve sorting out mum's next visits to us...

Sending you all the love in the world today and beyond Gilly & family and will be thinking of you today in particular. It will pass, as all things do, although that seems unlikely at the time - and you will adjust - a wise person told me when my mum passed away that you don't ever get over it, you just get used to it, and I'd say that's spot on. Mega hugs xxx

Sounds bad!

Batman's mum's reaction to our extending our much deserved break by a few days was that she has a light bulb that needs replacing so she's not happy having to wait for him to do it... I'm saying nothing. But I did give him a meaningful look.

But we got back last night so she won't be waiting for too much longer.

And it's soooo cold. The first thing I did was stick the heating on. In August!

And I think I've got the post holiday blues already. There's a pile of correspondence by my side that needs dealing with, emails to answer, calls to make, decisions to... decide on. I'd rather be elsewhere.

Ah, gilly, God bless you and your family.
The edges of the pain will soften in time and although the landscape of your life has changed forever, you'll get used to the new view eventually.
Sending you all the love in the world xxxx

Permission granted, rant noted! (((((hug)))))

Here it is soaking wet underfoot and I have shedloads of boring stuff to do, none of which I fancy but all of which is essential.
And Melony is getting Summer Holiday Boredom syndrome... need to think of something for us to do which will still mean I can get my boring stuff done.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

You poor thing LL. I was struggling to get to sleep last night too. Probably because my mind's too active - sooooo much to catch up on after being away.

Hello, chaps!
It's too hot for me, I'm hiding from the sun...

Melony's away at Brownie weekend so it all feels a bit odd; having said that, Mr M and I had a couple of bottles of beer last night and we're struggling though!

Hugs to everyone; hope all are surviving...

Baking sun, roaring gail, pouring rain... think that covers the last 24 hours!

Melony is home, had a fab time and it's great to have her back.

Right, stuff calls. See you later, folks

Morning grumpies!

That ! is all for effect. I've got all the energy of a wet sponge. Got next to no sleep and I know exactly why - I printed off some contracts to go through in bed last thing, thinking I'd be off like a light through sheer boredom, but no, quite the opposite, still alert when it started to get light. Booo...
