Hi all, and especially Laura. As she guessed or was told, I've been on an adventure, and there are photos in the usual places. Dunno why they are a bit blurry.
When you made your new recipe out off stuff Mrs KJ was throwing out I knew after a couple of days you where either poorly tummy or travelling so went grumpies didn't hear I right or wrongly assumed you where travelling beautiful pictures by the way

Grump the plumber hasn't come back today the tap needs a new washer its only been in a couple of weeks for goodness sake he said nothing is made like it use to be I had to keep my mouth shut cause I would have said neither is the workmanship but there you go I can be diplomatic when I want

BG and SP: You two are so busy it makes my head spin. I don't know where you get the energy from to live those hectic lives of yours. Just make sure that you save a bit of yourselves to enjoy your retirement years. I'm noticing this trend among my friends who have retired over the past few years. Many of the ones who worked entirely too hard have suffered major health crises within a year or so of retiring. Some of them (including a first cousin) are no longer with us and all we can do is sadly remember how hard they worked before retiring and the big plans they had but will never fulfil.
I know exactly what you mean. Some of our friends are older and having had busy and demanding careers are now finding themselves completely knackered out, when they should be having fun. And, as you say, some don't even make it to retirement.

I'm learning, though. Work is dropping off - I can't make deadlines so I turn stuff down - and I'm not going to chase it. With so many other commitments I don't think there's any chance I'm going to be bored.

It's Sad we need to keep nagging to slow down.

There's no sun in this Sunday here.

We spent yesterday taking plants from the balcony down to the back of the garden so they'll be safe while the refurbishing work goes on. Today I'm going to pick as many tomato plants as I can in the garden before they're destroyed by the scaffolding going up tomorrow. I'll have to live with the blinds down and curtains closed since they're starting work at 7:30 every morning and work until 16:45 for the next eight weeks. I don't take change and disruption very well and the lack of natural light and privacy is going to be difficult, too. My anxiety levels (and probably my blood pressure, too) are though the roof.

Appropriate vibes from you Grumpies to help me get through this will be much appreciated.

I feel your pain me@ - sounds horrendously disruptive. Will you be able to use the garden at all while they're doing the work?

Sending positive vibes from up North me@.

I have returned from my travels to sunshine. Harrah.

Dreading the return tomorrow but only as it's hard to get back into it. I love my job and have lots of fun. It just the politics I despise...

I have been to buy paint as himself says he will do the kitchen in the evenings instead of watching telly. We shall see. A Sharpe rerun is already in the way. He has done some dump it runs today so I will keep quiet for now.He hasn't even looked to see the colours I have chosen.I thought I might as well get bathroom paint while I was there!

Hope first day back went well Amica!

I've had a funny day. Up early, very good intentions, by noon completely distracted by all kinds of irrelevant stuff, went shopping for food, ended up buying a new coat and a handbag (coat the most gorgeous powder blue, handbag probably a mistake and will go back) but not enough bits and bobs for the meal, back to the shops, distracted by some curtains - didn't buy them but probably will tomorrow - back home, completely bored by then by the thought of cooking anything... so here we are, supper-less. I think I've negotiated a deal, though. We'll watch some football and get a take-away.

Roll on Tuesday.

Heigh ho, grumpies!

We had a day a bit like that, batty - lots of bits and none of them in the right order.
Currently, Melony is eating her tea while watching Ice Age 3, Mr M is up in the bathroom after going for a haircut and eating four custard doughnuts instead of his lunch (!!??!!!) and I'm doing school-work for tomorrow and ironing whilst a chikken tikka rice-pot hydrates in the background (Sainsbury's sell them for a quid, they're lovely!)

Unfortunately it was our last day off this summer, which was a bit depressing but never mind...

Sending you mega-vibes, me@h, that sounds truly horrendous and I would hate it too.

Same here BG. I built a desk extension, then frittered away hours rearranging stuff.

Adding my vibes to me@

Today has been a busy day but a good one... on the whole. Managed to persuade a school refuser to re-engage with me after a long break, help a mum to word her SENDIST appeal forms, and cheer up a terrified year 7 whose experience of the new secondary school has overwhelmed the poor kid somewhat.

I've been bloody freezing though. WTF is it with this weather? Do I just give up now and put the heating on?

Anyway - emails to send, invoices to raise, procrastination with song pop and scrabble to manage

Good luck to all the returners (that must be all the education folk and offspring by now, surely?) ... soon be Christmas

No painting to report as yet - apparently it's an important football match!

Glad to hear you had a positive day, Sad.
...
I have been learning all about how to look out for pupils in my care being radicalised and turned into terrorists. Methinks they may be a tad young!

I bought a powder blue coat last year, Batty. We must be careful not to be twins in Betty's. I could already do with another fix. Definitely champagne next time

*waves to all in GOWland, including those currently not watching their screens as they are rearranging their desks!

I'm quite proud of the books, and surprised that the Melons haven't read some of the science fiction or noticed Godzilla.

As you can see I appreciate cards and plush toys I get given.

Handy Sad Bats and RP bought me a pot guinea pig years ago, she's offstage but on the shelf at the far right.

@Amica, England are boring... +1 for Sean Bean as Sharpe and Sheffield and that.

Well, you definitely are here. (((LL)))

Amica - spooky! We do have very similar tastes. And I was in Betty's today. No champers (again!!!) but we did go on to a wine bar, so I'm guilty of mid day, mid week drinking, if a couple of small glasses count.

*hick*
