My car said 25 earlier.... lovely Making the most of it as it's the village show AND Mr Sad is doing the driveway at the weekend so that's doomed the weather from the outset

Grumpies... please send a few vibes in the direction of my lovely former boss. In hospital with pneumonia following chemo and with terminal prognosis... just wishing her comfort and less pain. It's hell.

Just got back from there to my lovely eldest cooking dinner - am very grateful for the little things right now - going out tonight to drown my sorrows at a comedy night so watch out for p*ssed posting later

Vibes being sent in the direction of your friend Sad.

Not much to report from here - I think I've managed to break the back of the various piles of paperwork I was facing at the beginning of the week, which is fantastic. And the... yes, let's say piles again - piles of incompetence I've had to deal with really make me amazed at how some people manage to keep their jobs. In fact one person I dealt with last year who was beyond useless then and manages to pull off complete uselessness the second year running has a had a promotion in the meantime. How does that work?

Anyway, I won't break into a proper rant because it's Friday night.

Ah, Sad, that's awful
Vibes for her and her family and her friends, you included.

Hugs for laura, too, you don't grumble but it's bloody rough for you.

We are on a sponsored walk today and it's piddling down. Eek!

I am posting from my bed. It's been a tough week doing long hours at work and then evenings at home.

Then you read posts like Sad's and get perspective. Sending vibes from sunny Yorkshire where we all hate each other!

Also sending hugs to Laura.

Painting update: still nothing to report. I may have to start it myself...

Thanks lovely grumpers. It's just hit home this week, have known for a while but think I've been in denial. And boy does it remind you to get some perspective

Vibes to all of you because you're lovely. Hope that Plumster is ok too.

So... new Labour leadership... out with the new, in with the old??? At least it will make politics interesting again

I agree Sad. We've just been watching the coverage and it's certainly an interesting time for Labour.

Good luck melons! Hope the weather is kinder there than it looks here. I'm seriously considering abandoning the bike for today, and maybe going swimming instead. Looks like I'm going to get wet whatever I do!

I think it will make them more electable than the last few... it will certainly make opposition more interesting, and let's face it, the UK love a bit of entertainment.

All in all it's been a good day. And it's only part way through the weekend

Painting update - dining room ceiling done. Lots of drips on the floor to clean. Three walls complete and the features all done to near the edge. Just need to wait to using edging tape. Just kitchen part and bathroom. Oh and glossing.

Weather is miserable here. I need to go out to buy birthday stuff today so I will have to brave it. I'm guessing it's time to dig out the winter coat.

Have a peaceful Sunday.

I'd rather vote for someone close to my views and lose, than vote for a label and be betrayed. Interesting that 59.5% of the voters agreed with snowbes (& me) but only 20 MPs do.

If he gets rid of nuclear power, he will leave this country very vulnerable. We need strong defences.

Very impressed with the painting so far.

Does anyone remember the massive bookshelf Batman built from scratch... ooo, a couple of years ago now? Yup, still waiting to be painted.

To be fair to him, though, it is massive.

Renovating an ancient cottage and got a sudden mouse problem. Caught two in a humane trap. Did you know they wet themselves when trapped? Cue pool of urine on the stone flags . It's all out war so got some killer traps as well but so far, bait taken - traps not sprung. The word is getting round in mouse city. Roll up roll up - free pork fat and chocolate at Mrs Grumpys diner!

We had frequent mousy visitors when we lived out in the sticks, and from what I've heard it's virtually impossible to make a house mouse proof - they'll get in through the tiniest spaces.

We kept on top of it with humane traps and far relocations, but never solved the problem completely, so good luck!

Horrible, horrible weather here. But I suppose I don't begrudge being at my desk for most of the day as much as I would if sunny skies were calling...

Stick with the humane traps; we did, it took 8 mice before we got rid.. Don't forget to release the mice miles away or they come back.

Mice *shudders

Is it nearly Friday? Am knackered already and am way behind with marking due to lots of little extra jobs SMT keep finding and parents wanting meetings when I have only been teaching the little darlings for three hours! Seriously?!

Add to that two family birthday meals this week - how very dare they?! - and I am seriously stressing. Roll on Friday!

At least it's stopped raining.
