D'you know what? If the rest of the year is going to be like it started then I'm probably going to go bonkers.

Problem, after problem, after problem - the minute I sort one out another one pops along. All, so far, due to other people's errors. Some, most actually, not massive, but it's starting to niggle.

I think I'm too polite and I let people off far too easily. Maybe a new year resolution is in order, if it's not too late. Be a bit more arsey.

Eeek.

Happy Beginning Life Anniversary BG! (I know that you don't like the b- word ) I hope those annoying things and people stay away for at least today. Say yes to cake and wine no matter the time of day just this once.

Thank you, and for the fab card. Wise words.

And I've no choice as far as the cake and the wine. Batman has just put a massive glass in my hand and someone who shall remain nameless (but sounds a bit like chairperson) sent me an avalanche of cakes. Let me list them all so you get the idea - rum and raisin, victoria sponge, chocolate and orange, carrot, bakewell, caramel and peanut, chocolate, apple crumble, another bakewell but larger this time, chocolate and coconut, lemon, coffee, a different and larger lemon and ditto for another chocolate. And a chocolate and marshmallow thingy to put into hot milk to make hot chocolate just to finish me off.

Obviously I'll have to get her back.

And thank you too LL.

The only bad thing about today is that we're due to go out in an hour or so and it's absolutely peeing down. Oh well, trying to be grumpy, but failing...

With all those calories in that gift are you sure it's a friend?
I'm amazed that the card got there so quickly. I think it must have hired it's own private jet!

A suspect!
HHD to you, too.

It was supposed to be our weekend but Mr. Home got called in to cover a sick colleague and has chess tonight so I've spent the day all on my own trying to figure out a crochet pattern that might be my mental undoing. After attempt #9 (my yarn's getting frayed now from all the frogging) I've figured out that there's an error in the pattern. Eureka moment here!

Now I can settle into an nice evening of Netflix without any interruptions. Why do some people feel the need to sing along to music on the tv thus drowning out the dialogue, repeat every word of a line that they found funny thus drowning out the dialogue once again or start a conversation going off in a tangent from what was just said on tv? I have headphones and when I put them on so I can ignore the side show he just ramps up his own volume on the voice box. So Netflix (and Amazon Prime, etc.) have become my solo guilty pleasure.

Belated Happy Birthday Batty - sorry I missed your day! Sounds like it was cake-a-licious anyway!

I'm a very tired sore grump. Had a bit of a toothache which yesterday changed into a monumental tootache but typically at a point too late in the day to do anything about it ... so having been up since 3.45 am for work i then got to stay up all of last night as well as i couldn't sleep. I couldn't read, i couldn't watch tv ... i was miserable. In the end at about 4.30 am i was so bored, i drove into the city centre to the 24 hour medical centre, just to be told that there was nothing they could give me as i'd already had too much pain relief ... which sadly wasn't relieving the pain! Anyway, a trip to the dentist then followed as soon as they were open, they squeezed in an appointment for me ... and proceeded to pull out a wisdom tooth - i'm now 25% less wise than yesterday and wisdom wasn't my strong point!

I've also got an infection in another tooth so on antibiotics for that - so still in pain, still can't sleep! i don't like 2016 so far! Oh and I think i'm going to look like a hamster tomorrow.... but on the plus side Miguel the gekko isn't dead - I thought he might be, but i've just seen him - he lives behind my bookcase.

Thank you all for the cake day good wishes.

And yay to Miguel being found safe and sound. I haven't seen Mini Cheddar the hedgehog for a while, but hopefully he's hibernating. Or just busy.

Still peeing down here, but the weather is set to get colder so we might get some snow! Would be fab.

My, my it's quiet here this weekend. It's not my weekend though so for me it's business as usual and I'm posting here to further delay a necessary trip into the city centre.

I hope all you Grumpies are having a peaceful weekend in RL.

Happy Hump Day Grumpies!

Dark and rainy here but it's been like this on and off for two weeks so just wearing water-proof everything and getting on with it. At least it's not too cold.

Laura: I hope that all went well at the doctors and that things are looking up.

Amica: Hope the mania calms down soon and you can enjoy the new job.

Woo hoo to you , too Snowy!

I've decided that I hate my living room curtains and am going to take them down. First I have to get the ladder out from it's tight storage spot and then get up on it. That's tiring and difficult for me right there no less getting the curtains down. But it's my only must-do for today. Must get on with it except that I seem to be here....

Mission accomplished! Got them down but my back went out and I couldn't stand up straight for a while. I've been sitting, crocheting and watching tv since then but Mr. Home rang me a little while ago to say that he either lost his keys or left them in the lock of the storage box when he went to get his bike out to go to Chess Club. I had to go ( actually hobble) down the two flights of stairs and check and sure enough, the box was open with the keys in the lock. I rang him back to tell him that I got the keys. I also informed him that he needed to come home before his usual 1 am arrival home on chess night so I could let him in and he seemed annoyed about that. What a feckin' nerve! Now I'm really grumpy since I want to go to bed early and rest my back. Grrr...

Not such a happy hump day then me@ ... hope he got home at a decent hour.

Amica - glad it's going well - looking forward to hearing more when you come up for air (I'm guessing in about six months or so... )

Deeply saddened to hear Alan Rickman has joined a stellar cast list of obituaries this month - and we're only half way through January. Wtf is going on?

Big hugs and vibes to all grumpies . I am just non-specifically grumpy right now and am not elaborating as to why - one of the issues being there are not enough hours in the day

Well he got home about 2 minutes before 12. While I waiting though I decided to wash my hair, do my nails and transplant some plants. Of course by the time he got home I was buzzing and wasn't able to wind down enough to go to bed until after 2. Of course Mr. Home was asleep by 12:30.

Another sad celebrity death and lots of mourning fans. Just like you SP I'm wondering what's going on right now.

I hope that your non-specific grumpiness has lifted and you've been able to have a smile or maybe even a laugh today.

It was rainy and windy today so we went to the garden centre. I can spend hours there looking at all the plants and admiring the way they stage them. I also like to see the seasonal changes there. Christmas and it's after sale was well and truly packed away and there was lots of bare spaces which were being prepared for the early spring/Easter time. I have a very sad anniversary (10 years) coming up in a couple of weeks so trying to keep myself from getting too depressed so this little outing helped.

Same here. Very .

me@ - I used to love those garden centres too. Our actual garden wasn't huge but I took the lead from our neighbours who all had fantastic stuff in their ones, and did what I could. Nice memories.

Gorgeous day here - cold, but blue sky and sunshine. Our weekend is starting early so we're off for a couple of hours of hiking.
