Snow, snow, soggy wet snow...
Mr M and Melony made a snowman after school - just a diddy one. He's got a carrot nose, grape eyes and a strawberry bootlace for a mouth - he looks great! ![]() If we get lots more snow I might get a Snow Day... but I only want one, so I require a thaw by tomorrow night... ![]() KJ - it did cross my mind. ![]() Evening snOwy.

So the neuro doctor who has tested my son for epilepsy says he probably doesn't have it. Ok.
So he thinks it's a reaction to some drugs. The certain named painkiller and a unknown surgical anaesthetic. Fine. So he suggests we could give him some to test which one. Since the last two times he reacted he was in intensive care for few days on a ventilator I think we'll pass.Idiot.We just avoid surgery whenever we can. Not bloody rocket science. I might refer him on to someone who might have some bright ideas. Sounds like a plan. So now, unfortunately, we have a surgery at the end of the month to look forward to. Nerve block we are thinking. Onwards and upwards. |

Amica, is there any value in visiting your GP, and getting them to chase up a specialist for you? I'm wondering if the person who has wound you up was perhaps the sort who is so laid back that they forget how worried some patients can become; but probably more medically competent than they appear, just with the bedside manner of a bull in a china shop.
Some of the best consultants I've met have been frighteningly confident - of course the very best understand people too. |

I have just submitted my first ever online self assessment tax form. I think I've done something wrong because they owe me
Still, on the plus side, it's submitted before the deadline and if it's wrong, I'm at least up the £100 they'd have fined me for not getting it in sooner. And I'm guessing that's what Batty is also trying to avoid ![]() In a moment of reflection I've realised that this time last year, I was doped up on morphine following my op, wondering if I'd see another Christmas I wouldn't have got through January were it not for the advice and support I had from some of you lovely Grumpies. Will never be able to repay you.Amica - give 'em hell. ![]() Got to get to bed. Been trying to time-shift my insomnia by using a light box at 8am every day - it's not working. Got to get up early too. Pants ![]() (((((((((((((GOW)))))))))))))) |

The simple thing is, if they want the money from me, they'll have to take me to court and it's just simply not worth it. Well, they haven't pushed the issue, so I can only assume that. They can't deduct it from my wages/income, as it is all paid in cash and I declare it all. And HMRC are very generous with tax reductions for landlords, so this isn't a complaint. Also, the late filing rules were changed two or three years ago. For anyone filing for the first time, you can't just create an account on-line and start right away. You'll get a letter sent to your address with a validation/activation code, that you'll need to enter to enable your account. This is obviously a security measure. If you submit on 31st Jan on-line and the server doesn't respond due to heavy overload, make sure you keep a record of your submission number, as proof you have submitted. Now, onto a more lighter note. I've found the world's first DVD, where you get a free Lamborghini throw in. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-3790L...8380446&sr=8-1

Tax return
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh buggrit... I've got till the 31st right? ![]() I missed Batty's birthday - which is particularly stupid because it's the day before B's and every year I'm surprised by this news ![]() Amica - sorry to hear about all the rubbish, there's nothing more worrying than watching someone close to you go through that whole diagnosis, from experience I've found the louder you shout (figuratively speaking obviously!) the quicker you're dealt with. Very wrong, but sadly true... Hope you get some answers soon ![]() It's bloody cold here - but I can't be bothered to get up and light the fire... first world problems ![]() Edit: Actual. Oh. Em Gee. My own is a doddle but Batman's is a nightmare because his record-keeping is, frankly, shite. And I've the lovely accountant doing his job by nagging me to get it all finished. And I've my own work deadline. And what I really want to do is eat chocolate and read something trashy on my wonderful new Kindle. But I'm actually not feeling grumpy at all. Most odd. |

You know, record keeping, what is that exactly.

Hi ![]() That's it... *shrug* I feel exactly the same - am zombie-like today but relieved ![]() jra - thanks - it was a scary time but it's well and truly behind me now ![]() Collette - I'm going to assume you haven't got to register for the first time - what the b*ggers don't tell you is that yes, you register, then you send off for an activation code, which can take 10 days to arrive - THEN when you use said code it can take another 72 hours before you can actually do anything. Am so glad I didn't leave it until next week... ![]() Still, what happens next (such as having to work out my own business mileage claim stuff because the P11D I should have had in July is not with all the others from previous years) will lead me to decide whether I need to employ an accountant. Surely not...

I have registered before but (as with previous years) I have no idea what my reference number or anything is so will have to try to work that out at some point! Thankfully mine is very simple - I don't claim expenses or the like because I'm under the tax threshold anyway (and in truth that would require too much organisation and/or thought on my behalf
)

My former employer helpfully messed up the business mileage rate I was paid until the end of April 2011- resulting in a right bloody muddle with my tax codes for years and an underpayment of tax on the princely sum of £35 (I think - that was the bit I had to work out) for 2011-12. I'm fairly convinced that my lack of P11D has more to do with said helpful ex-employer than my own lack or organisation on this occasion
but I haven't gone through all the boxes of stuff yet, so you never know.

I have no idea of my log in details though - I'm sure I got them emailed last year though so hopefully it won't be too much of a nightmare
