Just popping in ... belated birthday vibes to the Plumster - yes please do get FB!!!

My goodness, I've not been so glad to see a Friday for a long time. Just seem to be chasing my tail these past few weeks - and forever driving. Been to Blackburn, Grantham, Hull, Watford, and Nottingham all in a very short space of time. Today I'm staying local, de-cluttering my office and planning to spend the weekend doing as little as I can get away with.

We're dog sitting for my sister in a few weeks' time - it will be rather lovely to have a Lab in the house again but interesting to see if this persuades us to get another one or to finally ditch the left over stuff from six months ago when we lost our old faithful.

Have a great weekend fellow grumpers *waves to BendyWendy* ... football? Is there football on at the moment?

I'm giving up (don't read on KJ) on football. Last night's game was pants.

So, so glad it's Friday night , though. It's been an incredibly long week and even a stiff PG isn't making it go away just yet.

Hello, ladies. What a horrible end to the week its been

I'm looking forward to a quiet domesticky weekend in which we will excavate a bit more of the house, try out Melony's new scooter and celebrate Father's Day. There may well be footie but we have developed a system - M and I go out and buy pizzas and then we all watch the second half together while scoffing them!

Love and hugs all round and a happy Saturday!

My weekend hasn't started at all well. My lovely, kind, wonderful former boss has finally lost her battle (and yes, this was a battle, sorry) against a brain tumour which hit her some 14 months or so ago. She was determined to resist the terminal diagnosis she was given and survived well beyond what had been predicted but we knew it was inevitable - even so I am bloody heartbroken today. Especially for her family, of course - unbearable for them; but also because I've lost a friend and colleague and someone I loved dearly.

Life is very cruel at times and highly unfair - a fact borne out by the shocking events in Birstall this week.

So yes, big hugs all round and a huge eff off to those who are trying to gain any kind of political leverage from Jo Cox's murder.

Thanks Batty and hugs to everyone, sorry for the rant. It's the never ending battle between brain and social media - heart wants to scream, brain says no, fingers ignore brain.

My adorable youngest drove home last night to give me hugs and to be here for her dad this morning. Actually made me cry. She's alright, that kid. *is proud*

Happy Father's Day... I'm lucky enough to have a father still living (although 'living' is possibly an exaggeration, but he exists) and for my father's day penance I'm about to tackle his lawn again. Those of you who've seen the photos from last time will appreciate what this involves. I may not like him very much but I'm still his daughter, dammit.

Very excited for next week - got tickets to see ELO in Manchester - very, very early birthday present, from a lovely friend (the deal being, I drive) - thrilled doesn't even begin to cover it. Onwards and Upwards, right?

((((((GOW))))))

You poor thing LL. Have as good a day as you can xxx

Me, I got up extra early to paint the kitchen and now feel slightly high from all the paint fumes, although all the windows and doors are wide open. Maybe if I take the bike out for a spin my head will clear enough to do some worky-type stuff after lunch.

snOwy - I'll keep you on the straight and narrow.

As if

LL - hope the meds do their stuff eventually and it's just taking time to kick in.

Here, I'm mostly experiencing Groundhog Day. An early night beckons but I might need something to knock me out... *looks contemplatively at wine rack*

Wine sounds good. Go on.... do it.... you've earned it. And you've inspired me to pour a glass myself and sit down to say hello to everybody.

I have only just found this thread so introducing myself. I'm Jenny, 30-something stay at home mum of one mischievous, into-everything three year old and slave to two tyrannical cats. No bloke... have a wife instead (getting that out of the way to avoid misunderstandings later), I have a car that goes when it wants to, I play netball and take clifftop runs when I can and play guitar, well, to a reasonable standard.

I'm not a "grumpy old woman" by nature but I can complain for England when I get well miffed.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.
