That sucks, Batty.

I have been saying no to lard for three weeks and have lost a pound. Whoop Dee do. Need a new plan but I can't even contemplate running.

It's only five weeks to my holiday and I won't have clothes to wear if I can't shift a few pounds.

Get a Fitbit. 10,000 steps a day and the weight will drop off.

Sleeping much better snOwy, thank you for asking. Finally. Insomnia really sucks but I was lucky this time in not having to be anywhere the next day. Lots to do but all in my own time, so that takes the pressure off. Nothing worse than counting down the hours to the alarm going off!

Another beautiful day here so I'm planning to finish early and disappear off into the countryside on my bike.

LL is being quiet. Hope she's okay,

Oooooo, impressive!

Woke up to very autumnal mist here. Quite spooky and atmospheric, but I'm that summer is almost over.

But my feet and hip are aching. Just shows how unfit I am. Dog not awake yet lol

It's very misty here too and it's forecast to be warm, but the forecast was unfulfilled yesterday so I won't be holding my breath. The fog has to go first.

Have a good day peeps.

I need to move to a sunny place!!!

Hey, chaps!
I got soaked today but I don't care - just so glad it wasn't hot !!!
Sick of sweaty grumpy kids and very hot classrooms, roll on autumn!

Big hugs, snowy - nothing I can say except that, really, but hope it helps a bit!

Amica, really, don't feel bad. Enjoy the freedom!

As for me - lots to do work-wise, but have got my hair under control, done the shopping so we don't have to do it at the weekend and we're going to have a curry for tea. i'd call that basically a win...

Laura, where are you?

Day 1 of my holiday ...... started work at 4 a.m and finished at 2.30 p.m with no breaks.... this holiday malarkey doesn't seem all it's cracked up to be!

Hopefully Day 2, which I suppose will now be Day 1 tomorrow will be more orthodox

Will hopefully get more time to witter over the next 2 weeks, but for now my brain is like a suet dumpling ... of the grandma stodgy variety not the fluffy dumpling type.... are there fluffy dumplings? I'm pretty sure I have heard about them but I only had the grandma variety ... which are more akin to concrete

Thanks for all the ideas on tv series ... for now we are watching Being Human, the UK original version, and it's awesome - not entirely suitable in some respects ... but YoungPlum is quite matter of fact and self-censoring and is 14 and a half now. Next in line is Hustle I think, or Suits, we have Season 1 of both of them.

I'm still living in a couchless society ... I bought one from my colleague's sister but we seem to be having delivery issues - our time off never coincides ... and then they promise to bring it over when YP is in, I don't really need to be there but then they don't show up - it's a bit frustrating, but we'll get there in the end and until then, we have our comfy chair roster ... Destructo seems to have taken over though, and she has big teeth and little sanity, so she tends to win

Handy it's funny you say about the kids at school grumping about the heat and mugginess - here YP tends to whine about the cold as the school tends to have the aircon on full-blast and she freezes on stinking hot days - it's a mad world!

Batty, I read your thread about your distant(ish) relative but didn't comment there, but I do think you are awesome and my view is that you are right to try and do something, I would rather regret having done something with good intentions than regret not having done something when it becomes apparent action would have been better, if that makes sense bearing in mind my suet dumpling brain syndrome.

Thanks Plummy. It's a massively frustrating situation because he's asking for help but what he actually wants is for me to wave a magic wand and make life the way he wants it to be. If only I could!

Anyway, enjoy your time off and fingers crossed your sofa turns up!

We're having a quiet weekend. The boy was supposed to be around but got some last minute work so it's just me and Batman... and he's just gone off for a bike ride... so it's just me.

I've been up since early trying to catch up on worky things and I have a bit, so I might get out too. A blast of fresh air will do me good and punch me out of this lethargy. *yawn*

Day 2 which is really Day 1 and today I have been shopping, doing washing and cleaning - aren't holidays the best thing evahhhhhh?!?!? Tomorrow I get to iron too - oh joy, oh bliss! My thinking is that I'm trying to get as many of the tedious tasks sorted out as quickly as possible and then I don't have them on my conscience needling at me quietly.

Today's big happy event is that we finally got our lounge suite and it's beautiful ... it's brown which is a bit of an issue for me but it's still beautiful and in practically new condition so it's a HUGE bargain. It's created a few issues of it's own as now I need to get a little table (an occasional table I think they're called, but why? what are they when they're not being tables? bizarre!) and I need to rehome our old comfy chair somewhere, at the moment we're thinking of sticking it in the spare room where the kittens sleep. The beauty of the suite is now no longer in evidence as we've put covers over it so it doesn't get Dog-stinked and we're trying to restrict Destructo to one chair - whether that will work with our free-spirited dog is another matter!

Anyway, for now, it's lovely playing with the recliners ... nagging YoungPlummers to get her dirty stinky rotten feet off the couch and we can pretend to be normal on a certain level anyway

Hope all the grumps are having a great weekend!

Oooh Plum! Recliners. Just the thing for watching DVDs - or just reclining. I wish I had one.

My grumpiness borders on grimness for the last 2 weeks! Huge let down but it's hanging around and won't be away. Going to last holiday end of this week, and I bet the sun will blaze down, like it did last time and I ended up ill for 2 days! Sun's fine in small doses, but it has a tendency to shine down on me, and I shake my fist at it. Going to drone fly and the wind had better stay away, as I aint gonna run after any drone!

Well, got that off me chest!

Great acting from the Lady In the Van, and a movie for all grumpies to watch. Bought it couple of months ago and boy it suits me to a T, as I'm the originally bag lady, and one day will be living in a van.

Hi Dix welcome to grumpsville Maggie Smith is brilliant
Sorry not been around grumpies been back and fore for appointments sleeping away the time as the heat gets to me either up and about or sleeping no two days the same, going for more test next week then see specialists for a small operation then after that the other specialists but they have told me both, that the best they can do is keep me comfortable so will just have to live with it stop fighting it, no more fight left.

Love and hugs grumpies
PS Plum enjoy your holiday and the recliners.

Poor you LL. It's nice to see you post, though. I worry!

Hi Dix - very nice rant.

I might have one myself. Got woken up, again, by the sound of next door's three kids screaming in the garden. Considering we're detached and all the windows were closed I really think it's not us being extra sensitive but them being an ignorant bunch of ****ers. One of these mornings I'm going pop out in my PJs and expand the children's vocabulary.

I do that too sometimes snOwy, stay up so as not to miss the alarm.

So, I've figured out that I need to slow down a bit again. I nearly dropped off when having a filling earlier. My dentist is very, very good so I closed my eyes and before I knew it he was having to remind me to keep my mouth open.

He was most impressed at, as he saw it, my ability to power nap. I can't, I'm just knackered.

Falling asleep in the dentist? I can't imagine that! I am usually stressed there.

Nice to see you. Keep on keeping on, LL. Very gentle cyberhugs.

Helloo - down under - on my way to you soon. ( well , sailing around the coast!)

Welcome Dix. I would also love my own van - with just my mess! But I think I might need to migrate south for the winter as I can't imagine it would be warm.

Welcome back, SnoWy.

Waves to everyone else.

After complaining about no work I have been inundated. I haven't stopped since last Friday and I only wanted part time. I need the money though to pay for my trip down under!

And boy is there a difference between schools in my local area. I'll be asking for danger money for going back to one of them. At least on supply I can say, "No, thank you."

Seriously considering a total career change. But what?
