Katie Melua's backing singers woke us up last night. That's my claim to fame for this year.
![]() P.S. And they weren't even singing!!! |

That's a way to go for an appointment. Will it be darn sarf?
Gentle hugs, LL. I have been at a nice school this week but have booked Thursday off for my bar job and Friday to take delivery of a new tumble dryer. Happy Hump Day x |

Good to know snOwy!
![]() Morning! I've a strange day ahead. Slightly fascinated by all this Black Friday stuff, I'm going to go shopping this morning. Seeing as I usually avoid the shops like the plague on even an average Saturday, I'll probably last five minutes then go for cake. And then it's a loooooong drive home. Boo... And then it's Friday night at home. Yay... |

I did some online shopping yesterday. Just close family left. I had done nothing before so am feeling a bit smug. So long as it arrives in time.
Just about to go out to the new weekend job. Then a wine tasting party tonight. Yum. |

My to do list still has several items on it, but if I complete them by the end of today I'll consider it a win.

I booked myself a day off and have woken with a cold . Bloody typical. But I can stay inside and keep warm.
I can't believe that it's December already. Still have stuff to buy, cards to write, prezzies to wrap. Wondering in the scheme of things why this has been my job...even for his family! Funny how we just accept situations without thinking too much about why - especially when we don't have the time to stop and think. How did I do it all when working full time? |

I feel your pain, Amica... I am so behind I think I am about to meet myself coming back.
So tonight I will mostly be drinking. There's no other sensible solution... |

I'm so busy at work I haven't even *begun* to think about presents and the like. Well, apart from Melony's pressies, of course, those are bought.
And if I see one more SmugMummy post about elves on the fecking shelf I'll scream. Hugs to laura and busy busy peeps Going back into my Grinchy hiding place now... |

Funny how we just accept situations without thinking too much about why - especially when we don't have the time to stop and think. How did I do it all when working full time? It was exactly like that when I was married to my first husband. I was running a business, studying, and doing everything else, so come Christmas it was all down to me too, including getting everything for his family. Then my daft mother in law would coo how great he'd become at present buying and he literally got all the thanks. So it was one thing I definitely kept an eye on when I married Batman. He still needs reminding, mind, but none of his lot are all that bothered so I'm not either. Especially as one of the first prezzies my then new mother in law bought me were some fancy knickers ( ) in a size sixteen. My sister in law saw them and said mum, they're massive, to which she replied that she got them in her own size because we looked about the same. I was a ten. I did think about 're-gifting' the following year...Ahh, Christmas... So, my deadline for getting all my work done has now shifted to the weekend. Still good. Next week is full of appointments. The following week I can do Christmas. Then I can be away with not a thought or a worry in my head. Yup, sounds great! |

I am writing cards.... only because we were meant to be halfway to Bury St Edmunds by now and himself has decided to put up the bloody tree instead. Thought I'd got away with that until next weekend. Curses as haven't done the dusting for weeks and now won't be able to get to anything... *that's the wonder of Woolies* ... yup, that's what our house looks like...

What is elf on the shelf all about? I seem to have missed it , although I have seen some people posting pics on facebook. Is there a purpose?
Should be looking forward to the weekend but I have four hour shifts in the pub both days. Still - no planning or marking to follow. I have got three days a week for the next two weeks in a nice school, so the money will come in handy for Christmas. My weekend has moved to Thursday and Friday for the time being. How are you , LL? Hope you get finished, Bats. Sad. Tree up already? Wow! Wouldn't worry about Christmas, Handy. You got the most important presents! Woohhoo, SnOwy. Hugs, kisses and waves to anyone else... |

Hope you'll have - or are having! - a brilliant time snOwy!!
I'm still battling on (and on, and on, and on... ) but the light is definitely there, at the end of the tunnel. I just have this vague feeling of impending doom, in that I'll finish everything, and then something will appear out of thin air to steal all my lovely free time. But I'm trying hard not to think about that possibility. Of course I could just close my email down and block call from everyone who is not a pal, but I don't think I'm brave enough to do that.

Finished!!!! I hope!
![]() I've a handful of calls to make next week and a few appointments like hair and teeth but all the major stuff appears to be off my desk. And we've even got the tree up and it's gorgeous - 7 feet of fat branches, twinkling away with decorations. It feels weird to be this organised (said she, with not one present bought or card sent ).
