We put the Christmas Tree and decorations up yesterday and it all looks very nice. It was pretty chaotic work with Megan getting excited and running around with tinsel and pulling everything out of the box to play with. Little madam.... but I couldn't be cross with her if I tried. Gotta allow a child to enjoy Christmas, She did help decorate the tree, although the cats scarpered before she took the idea into her head to use them as decorations...!!

We've put some parcels under the tree already and, as is our usual practice, will add a couple every morning. Meg has already been fishing around, squeezing packages when she thinks we're not looking.

Next job: Start writing Christmas Cards to send. We're going to take Meg out to deliver our cards to neighbours in the street this year. When I was a girl that was always "Jenny's Job" in our house. Actually, I enjoyed doing it. Knocking on a neighbour's door, holding out the card and saying "Merry Christmas". The job didn't take that long, and Mum always had a mug of hot choc ready when I got home.

Meg's too young to go out on her own yet, so either myself or Amanda will take her.

The ice skating rink at Eden Project is now open. We always have an evening out down there before Christmas. Mand's parents sit for Megan when we have a rare night out together and we both enjoy skating.

Loads of stuff still to do but at least we've got our Christmas Lunch menu all planned out and the meat order is with the butcher. Both mine and Amanda's parents are coming to ours this year. It will make our little house quite full, but we'll all squeeze in somehow.

I hope everybody's preparations out there in Grumpy Land are going well.

Down here in Darkest Cornwall, Christmas is coming and we're loooooooooving it..!!

I take my hat off to you.. our tree is only up because himself was bored, it's been decorated under duress and I feel about as Christmassy as a wet lettuce.

Thankfully a work appointment tomorrow has been cancelled so I can take time to breathe and catch up with a mate or two. Just hope it's half decent weather

I've had a lovely day potting and pottering in my mate's ceramics studio. It's fab; out in the sticks with more wild birds and very tame field rats than you'd believe. And a "feral" cat who is so fat and lazy she just watches all go on

I've spent the afternoon creating a memorial for when the second of Little Saddette's hamsters finally shuffles off the wheel (we feel it's imminent). And picnicking on soup and rolls. It was bliss. And very limited mobile reception...always a plus

Sounds like you've had a really fabby day Saddy.. Any place where it is difficult to be contacted on your moby has to be good.

What soup did you have..? On a chilly day I like oxtail, although a nice chunky vegetable soup is also good.

This can be a very good thing.

Sad - that sounds perfect. Exactly what you needed.

Not much to report from here. Eyes have been tested, teeth polished and my hair will be attended to this afternoon. It's just so nice to have a bit of time for it all and not be rushing or squeezing appointments into stupidly busy days.

I'm still up really early, though. Habit, innit.

There's still plenty of time. And I say that because I appear to have gained a week. Having been so busy, I thought I was away next week and then it was Christmas the week after. But it's not. Obviously.

Better to gain a week than to lose one.

I'm still up at stupid o'clock, though. Had Tesco pretty much all to myself just after 7am yesterday, which was lovely, and this morning I might clean the windows when it gets light enough...

Morning!

Bright eyed and bushy tailed here, so hoping to carry on putting my extra week to good use by doing all those little house jobs I never have the time for. Or I might go shopping, which is not as frivolous as it sounds as I don't have any Christmas prezzies yet. Or I might just go with the flow and put my feet up and read... Nice to have the options.

Watching Love Actually

Awwwww... I so love that film.

Liam Neeson helping his little boy learn to play the drums so he can get to meet the girl of his dreams. Bless him.

Line of the film: Bill Nighy with Ant & Dec: "A message to all you young people out there. Don't buy drugs........ become a rock star and they give them to you for free..!!" Hilarious.

Hugh Grant dancing around an empty 10 Downing Street.

Colin Firth's attempts to speak Portugese.

Oh, I could go on and on. I'm going to have to get the DVD out and insist we watch it now.

Confession - I hated Love Actually.

Not much to report from here either. It's amazing how busy my extra week has turned out and I don't know what I would've done without it, but it's mainly been domestic stuff. The house is having a major going over and is currently at the looking worse before it gets better stage and I've cleared out the freezer so in theory at least I can stock up on... more frozen food. Yup, all very exciting...

I must have a heart of stone.

I noticed the forums weren't working a couple of days ago and tried to remember my FB password... and failed. Sad knows it though. I was going to say, so that's handy...

If you haven't changed it there's a miniscule chance I might know it.... I'll think about that

And yes, heart of stone. Emma Thompson's role in that film was what really got to me though - you could feel her heart breaking!

Here - well, everything is wrapped. Everything that is bought, that is.
More shopping tomorrow - although the priority is a meet up with my old work colleagues, some ice skating and hot chocolate.

I'm not usually anti-strike action but the timing of these seriously hacks me off as it's a blatant ransom demand thing - same with the bloody post office strike.

Hope your trip goes smoothly despite the strike action - I'd love do go to Eire for Christmas one year, partly because the outlaws do it in style and start in November

I Love Love Actually swoon at Alan Rickman, when Emma Thompson went to the bedroom to listen to the cd I could have cried with her love the film haven't watched it this year.

Same old same old this end should have had biopsy results this morning but they called the other day to cancel the appointment so can't find out what it going on the specialists said four weeks but hay ho, gp won't get the letter with results until after I have seem him, awaiting appointment for Manchester not that they will do anything either so we wait.

Got a terrible bark we have all had it driving me nuts now wish it would hop off somewhere else been a long time since had infection this bad.

I haven't changed it Sad, and it looks like I'm still logged in on my phone, so I'll give it a go later. If I fail, I'm in your hands.

LL - you poor thing. I wish you had better news but it's good to hear from you anyway. Xxx

I'm up early again, hoping to get a few things done before I go off. My extra week flew by!
