My high end headphones are playing up and I haven't got the money to renew them, as it would cost the best part of £250 to replace them now.

He's arrived after a 3hr labour! And a big bruiser at 9IBS named Matteo Paul Adrianus but will be Matt or Mattie to me. (MY family always like to surprise me with strange names!) I can't wait till the 6th to get out there and get cuddles and smell a new baby
So sod the antibiotics and no drinking rule shall be having a glass of red to wet the baby's head!

Fingrs crossed, and vibes being sent in ghostie and twingly directions.
We're having a home day of pottering around and, being honest here, trying to avoid being the one who is going to paint the Massive Bookcase (now built). I'm thinking that it's Batman's thing so he should do it. He appears to be under the impression that as he built it for my books I should have that job. My come back is going to be that if it's some kind of a present then I want it finished and wrapping. ![]() ![]() ![]()

What a bummer. My boys are massively attached to their posh headphones so I can imagine what it must be like to be without for a while.
In other news, we have had more snow here and it is serenely quiet. |

Feeling a little fed up today - and a bit sad - but I guess that's normal.
We're expecting "heavy snow" according to the met office from 9pm for 18 hours or more and already I'm dreading the 'should I or shouldn't I?' dilemma about work tomorrow. It's a 30 minute journey on a good day but I will feel guilty if I don't attempt it and scared if I do. Guess I'll have to see what tomorrow brings. |

It seems to be a connection problem with the cable,
If it is the plug, cut off the plug with an inch or so of cable attached, so you can figure out which colour wire goes to which part of the plug. You can buy plugs with screw terminals, but if you can solder on a new one, much better. http://www.howtogeek.com/62999/how-t...nd-headphones/ |

Congrats to Granny Twingle and hope everyone else is snuggled up somewhere warm.
![]() Here, we've had about six inches of the white stuff and so far the local authority has already cancelled school transport for tomorrow - so all the local schools are now shut too - sadly this does not help me as I still have to get madam back to Hatfield tomorrow. Not looking forward to that at all, tbh.

Yay Twingle - congrats
Here B's school is closed tomorrow for all but exams so I'm working in the afternoon still and she's doing school run pick up if Cal's is open No idea on happy's... he's refusing to go in if it's open but I'll win ![]() Sad - be bloody careful missus, we've had no gritters on our estate and it's awful, I'm not attempting even getting the car off the drive... Also had a moment when a friend was involved in a nasty sledging accident just up the hill which culminated in an air ambulance rescue and broken leg... this was the slope we were all on last year and would have been on yesterday too had we been bothered to actually move from in front of the fire!!

The gritters here had helpfully omitted to grit a big chunk of the A6 on Friday, which was why I managed to lock my wheels up at 15mph trying to turn off the main road - at the time I was baffled as to why conditions were so bad, but apparently they just decided not to grit it!
![]() Been hearing rumours that the A1 is in a state - so will be going very carefully tomorrow. I don't mind driving in it - but you get so many idiots out there - people who sit on your arse because you're going too slowly for them - well, idiots, there's a reason for that and it's called ICE - nearly got rearended by a transit on Friday too ![]() Be glad when I'm back home again though - be nice to be able to hibernate at times like this, really

The chances are that the cable has broken either at the point where it enters the headphones, or much more likely at the point where it enters the plug. If you jiggle the cable close to the plug, and sound comes and goes, you'll know it's the plug.

Nothing to report here save that we had a nice cosy weekend rounded off by watching The Princess and the Frog which made both me and Mr M cry! It does make a huge difference handy, not being snowed in for once, although I'm missing my sledging hill.
![]() Loads of non-slip vibes for everyone else, though. I'm staying in all day, in a effort to get on top of things. Best get the kettle on again... |

AKG don't seem to provide support for these headphones, according to their website, these days, as they are so old. They are at least 15 years old, maybe 20. ![]() I've found one possibility, a hifi repair shop, locally, so I'm thinking of taking the phones in and getting them to check them out and hopefully make good the dodgy connection(s). If they do need to go to silicon heaven, I'll miss them sorely. If I had the money, I'd buy a pair of Grado Reference, as they are the proverbial dogs nads, other than (some) Stax, which cost uber money. The trouble is that few systems are good enough to do the above phones justice, hence the AKGs hitting a happy medium. The trouble is, when you've listened to music through high quality headphones, there is no going back, as cheaper, lower quality headphones just sound shyte. http://www.head-fi.org/products/stax...phones/reviews |

Sending busy busy achieving vibes to those who need them!
snowy, that's totally ![]() Fingers crossed for gboy! Did Sad get back OK, or is she still on the A1 somewhere? Here, it's f-f-f-f-freezing. Brrrrrrr.... Apropos of nothing much, but jra's headphone glitch reminds me - I've never used headphones to listen to music. I have it on a lot, but on the radio or CD player, or in the car. Headphones make me feel cut off from the world and I don't like wearing them. |
