Maffs!
herAge = amicaAge - 8
hisAge = amicaAge + 30 (assume Amica's Dad was 30 when she was born) hisAge = herAge +38 herAge = hisAge - 38 herAge >= (hisAge/2) + 7 (halve his age and add 7, if she's younger, whoops!) herAge >= (herAge + 38)/2 + 7 herAge >= (herAge)/2 +26 herAge >=52 Amica is at least 60 OR we have a "whoops!" on age difference OR my sums are wrong

So, am I correct that even if your dad was only 16 when you were born, that makes the age gap at least 24 years.

I'm guessing you're not going to call her mummy.
![]() Evening chums. I'm really, really, really tired of decorating. And for ooo, about 1 minute today, I thought it was Friday. And. It's. Not. *runs away sobbing* |

Hope your new m-i-l is nice Amica - if she isn't you can send her to the naughty corner
Seriously though, as long as they are happy then I suppose that's what matters. Hope it's not going to be an issue in the family as that's always a strain when there's lots of different shocked type opinions going on. Good luck with it! I need some positive vibes sending down south as I'm a tad worried, I'm hoping that I'll have good news before most of you even read about our drama but just in case, I'd like the good work to start now..... DestructoPup our angel of disgustingness has what appears to be a sore throat as she is sounding very hoarse. Just came on some time today. This is an early symptom of a paralysis tick which some of you may remember killed Simon, the cat who adopted us. Hopefully, it's just a sore throat and simple antibiotics or something will sort her out, but we're a bit worried. Hannah would be devastated if it is a tick and it's too late, DP is technically her dog, and I would be devastated just cos. Anyway, I'm going with the she's caught a cold scenario and we're off to the vet shortly. I'll report back later..... send those vibes by express please

Good news, expensive news, bad news, potentially expensive news. Today is not nice, but better than it could have been, so time to count those blessings..... ONE. Well, maybe more than one but I'm being grumpy dammit! Life is picking on me, snot fair! wahhhhhhhhh
*stamps foot* [/end tantrum] DestructoPup would appear to have tonsillitis or something of that nature.... she had two BIG injections, an anti-inflammatory and an anti-biotic and she has a course of both of them for the next week. All this cost a mighty $200 - about £140 ish. The bad news is that my electric window on my drivers door won't close. Luckily as my friend is away I can park the car undercover tonight, so hopefully it won't get broken into and rain won't get in if it rains which it probably will. However, obviously I can't leave the car anywhere til it's fixed so I have to try and get someone to do it tomorrow or I will have to get taxis to and from work which will cost half my wages that I earn for the day on Monday. Oh poop! Poop and double poop! but fortunately only of the cursing variety as that's far less smelly and messy than the alternative real variety I do wonder if I've done a really bad thing to someone at some point and then suffered a memory loss as I have no idea! On the plus side today has only got a few more hours and then it's tomorrow which in true Annie style is another day ...... Hope your Friday is better than mine! |

I'm soooo happy DP is going to be fine. As to the rest, well, some massive good luck is obviously heading your way Plumster.
You're just getting all the bad stuff out of the way in one go.Here, I'm gearing up to do some more painting. The boy came home last night and I'm trying to coax him out of bed to come with me and do a couple of ceilings but it's not working as, apparently, he has a sore throat. Must've caught it overnight from DP, via the internet and DS. |

Plums, so glad DP is OK. I feel your vet-bill pain - I'm paying off one in installments that we incurred when one of our cats had to have various scans and tests and medication. SIX HUNDRED QUID - I kid you not! they can have a hundred a month and lump it!
Sending you some good luck vibes for the rest of it. It's cold and it's wet and if it wasn't Friday I'd be gigantically pissed off. Luckily the thought of the weekend is keeping me going ![]() ((((((((((GOWs))))))))))))) - in case someone needs some! |

Question - at 4pm on Friday, if one hasn't bothered getting dressed, is there any point?
![]() Thick fog all day here - so I shut the curtains, put the light on and got on with a report I had to write, and have only just noticed the time. ![]() So pleased that DP isn't any more poorly than that, Plummie, and the bill's not as horrendous as Handy's - which I agree is bonkers money. I wonder sometimes how vets justify it, I really do ![]() I think I'll run a nice warm bath. That way when Mr Sad comes home it will look as though my state of undress is deliberate

I think on balance that I'm quite relieved to be going back to work tomorrow, this has been a fair to middling horrible weekend.
Dramas with DestructoPup, then with the car, and then we get a call on Saturday night to say that our old Staffy had passed away. We hated leaving her behind but she wasn't ours to take but we've missed her hugely in the last 9 months. She was an old girl, probably about 15 years, so it was her time, but it's so sad, poor YoungPlum is distraught. We've picked out some photos of her which I'm going to get printed tomorrow and at least one of them framed. It's horrible when you just can't make everything alright again. At least DP is on the mend, she's sounding a lot better and can yawn with a shriek again and the car is fixed albeit temporarily and the guy at the garage wouldn't charge me. There are good people in this world.

Wow jra - you know how to party!
Glad you're okay. It was probably being a bit, erhm, relaxed that saved you from a bigger injury. Plumster - (((massive hugs))) I've had an unusual Mother's Day. The boys decided to spoil me by doing loads of decorating and clearing up. Great intentions and all that, but they have a patchy history as a working team and today they did a great job of distracting one another, making a mess, and pissing off mid afternoon to watch the rugby. I'm planning my revenge.

BG on revenge mission
Lord help Batman and Batboy, that's all I can say ![]() jra... glad you're okay now. Maybe avoid the stairs once you've imbibed ![]() Plummie - so sorry to hear about your old pooch. I once had a moggie (only cat I've ever owned, and only cat I wasn't allergic to) who eventually went to live with my ex-parents in law when marriage number one crashed and burned. We were all on good enough terms for me to see her every so often but it wouldn't have been fair of me to keep her as at the time I was commuting up and down the M1 and living away for half the week. She lived to a ripe old age but I was still truly sad when I got the call to say she had passed away. Huge hugs to you today. Handy - go Mr M!!!!!!!! and pleased to hear things are looking better all round. ![]() Here, well, it's been an interesting weekend. I think that about sums it up. Another busy week ahead. Think I am going to have to start charging more for my services
