Time to start lying about your age jra.

Young Plum's fine for now, so a very happy birthday to the junior Plumster.

Happy birthdays all round.

So from now on, I'll have to refer to my age as 'over 21'.

ha! So you share a birthday with my girly jra? Well yours is a birthday I won't forget then! I'll be "over 21" too this year

Thanks for the birthday wishes, she's had a good start to her day! She enjoyed torturing everyone with the smell of her bacon sandwich, she has a cruel streak at times, evil child! She has to do a practice cross country run when she gets to school this morning so it serves her right and she got no sympathy from me! She's a chip off the old block though, she's getting money for her birthday to spend at the weekend but she did ask if she could have a book to get on her actual birthday - it's at moments like that when I think I'm doing an ok job as a mum

Aw, happy birthday little plum and jra

Here, I am mostly up to my neck in cr*p. But it's keeping me out of mischief. For now

It sounds all fine. So, yep, 20th of March it is for me. On the cusp with Pisces and Aries I believe, not that I'm a great astrology follower.

Pisces is quite an appropriate star sign for me actually, as I was on the water in boats before I could even walk.

OK, now that it's actually here - Happy Birthday jra! Hope you have a most excellent day full of good stuff!

YoungPlum has had a good day so far apparently, I am the BEST MUM EVERRRRRR .... but I merely think I am a slightly off-the-wall at times mum, which is good enough for me! We're off back to school again shortly for her parent-teacher interview thingo, so that should be interesting.

Pizza and garlic bread for dinner - I'm saying a resounding YES to LARD this evening - saying no to bacon sandwich really hurt me to the very core this morning and I'm just not going to suffer this evening - it's my special day too

Happy birthdays!!!

I'm over 21 too. Just.

I'm also completely out of steam and dreaming of a sofa day with a good book and a pot of tea. Sigh...

We should pick a date and declare it Global GOW Day and all of us should sit around all day, reading books, drinking PG (either tea or the vino variety) and generally being irresponsible or at best not very responsible

That sounds fab.

I've made an executive decision to have the morning off, to start on a new book, so I suppose I'm having half a GOW day.

I've just ordered half a dozen Michelin Green Guides second hand (very good condition to as new) for around about £16 from Amazon Marketplace.

Some are fairly out of date year wise, but a tourist attraction is a tourist attraction really, isn't it.

The West Country. 470 pages. 2000.
Wales. 326 pages. 2001.
Scotland. 382 pages. 2009.
Ireland. 512 pages. 2009.
Great Britain. 480 pages. 2008.
London. 430 pages. 2010.

Travel guides, atlases, maps (road or rail) etc. fascinate me. I think I might also get a German and Switzerland Green Guides.

Mr M and I bonded over a road atlas
One night in the uni common-room he was asking me about where I grew up, so I borrowed a road-atlas to show him and at 5am we were still sitting there giggling over silly names of towns and villages.

What a pair of geeks, eh?

He asked me out a few weeks later and the rest is history...

Happy Birthday jra

ETA. If children are generally more interested in books, rather than the latest game console, that I reckon is all good.

Just had a phone call from my cousin in Sweden who is shopping in Karlstad with his wife.

I've never heard of the place. Looks very nice.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karlstad

Apparently, it is about 20 miles away from where he lives.

That looks really interesting jra. I'm very drawn to that part of the world, but haven't made it there yet. One day...

And here I'm saying Yes To Lard - a manual worker's supper of egg, chips and beans, well deserved after an afternoon of bloody painting.

Blimey! We nearly slid off the page! Fear not, I applied my mighty foot of righteousness to the brake, and thence to the accelerator to whizz us back up to the top... although of course we might slide down again whilst the "mighty foot of righteousness" is on a break

I'm at a bit of a loose end. I shouldn't be, there are things I should be doing but having swept the house, done a load of washing, had my extremely late lunch and done dishes since getting home from work, I'm buggered if I want to do anything that I should do I'm therefore on the hunt for things that I should not do - as generally they equate to far more fun. They also generally get me into trouble so perhaps I should just hover in a state of nothingness pending a decision on a safe course of action. Hence I'm here - this is where I hover

Nothing has happened today worthy of comment. Hope everyone else is living a more productive life than I did today, otherwise we will grind to a halt or resort to discussing washing powders/liquids.

Hmmmmm - time to twiddle my thumbs, the devil makes work for idle hands and all that ......

Belated happy birthdays

I love predictive text errors, my phone is a nightmare for them and I, on more than one occasion, have found myself pontificating over 'snogs' rather than 'songs'... There was another recent clanger too but I can't remember it now...

Plums - there are lots of things I should be doing. I'm actually drinking tea and watching crap daytime telly. I really should investigate the funny electrical burning smell that i think is coming from the tumble dryer. I'll just finish this tea first though

Hope you're all having a good day anyway, today is better here than yesterday when the ginger's behaviour led to a self-certified 'worst mother in the world' award but today seems to be much better!

I do like a person that knows how to prioritise - tea before ... well everything really

My favourite recent predictive text error was from my friend who was writing to me about "vodka jelly shits" - she rarely checks before she sends texts so has sent me some crackers!
