I've only just arrived - so good morning for tomorrow, Plum!
Absolutely jiggered - hooray for the holidays!
*waves*

*falls over*
Same here, but I've had a most excellent day - there were a few tricky phone calls to be made and I was expecting a couple of tricky ones back, but everyone I spoke to was charming and helpful. Lovely people rock.

And up the ladder time wasn't too painful (ooo, I say) because I remembered to download the Practical Magic soudtrack and Kirsty MacColl's Tropical Brainstorm. I'd forgotten how brilliant she was.

jra - I always say that people will treat you the way you let them treat you, so you did right.

Plummy - I know exactly what you mean about the cloaked mozzies. It's happened to me a few times, even in Amsterdam where mozzies come in pony size, so who knows what's going on.

More genius

Here, I've just baked a banana loaf, sorted two loads of washing and watched the documentary about TV Centre closing, which was quite entertaining in places.

I love Friday nights

In other news... then snow has finally got here. I refuse to allow it to interfere with my plans for tomorrow night. I may be stranded in Essex by Sunday

Happy Saturday, chaps

Hope you still all have electricity and are warm and snug on this yukky day - no snow to speak of at Melon Towers but a horribe cold wind and lots of miserable grey cloud. Brrrrrrrr...

batty, Tropical Brainstorm is a fantastic album, I think. Funny, clever and very singable.
I miss Kirsty MacColl; lovely lady with a great voice. So sad what happened to her

Sad, you were a paragon of virtue compared to me! I fell asleep after putting Melony to bed and Mr M woke me up around midnight - neither of us had showered or eaten! So we went ahead with our plans anyway, and ended up eating "tea" at around 2am and watching our Friends box-set... went to bed about half past four
Still - we had fun, so who cares?

Cr*p, innit Snowbes Am currently deliberating the wisdom of a trip over to Chelmsford. The M11 will be fine and the A roads, it's the bits either end of that and the other muppets one generally encounters in these conditions that are currently putting me off. Gaaaah

I like freshly laid snow, when it is still crunchy, so I went for a bit of a walk this morning. However, I'm not looking forward to if or when you get a partial thaw and refreeze, which will turn the streets into a big ice skating ring.

That made me giggle

Or snow boots.
If you have a few drinks it will be your wobbly boots that you're wearing

It's been wet and windy here but I missed most of that as i worked all day yesterday. Left at 8 and got home at 6, the longest day I've done in many years .... and as it's all physical work I was an absolute wreck. Not feeling so bad this morning but I think there is still some muscle pain to come!

This afternoon I will be trailing round and round and round the shops with YoungPlum as it's her day for spending her birthday money. Last time it wasn't so bad, which makes me think that this time it will be horrendous, I escaped too lightly before! Hmmmm I must be having an Eeyore moment although I don't feel gloomy just resigned to the horrors of an indecisive eleven year old girl.

All is not bad though, I have a chocolate hot cross bun for elevenses - actually it might be all bad as I've never had one and I'm not sure I'll like it - I like fruit - I used to like Tesco's Finest ones best - *sighs* happy days! On the plus side though, the virtual absence of the holy grail of a perfecto hot cross bun is that I don't eat many in the weeks leading up to Easter which is good for the Anti-Lard Laws.

I like my wobbly boots, just as long as stairs aren't involved.

11-15 is a troublesome era for kids, or so I've been told.

So, you won't be getting too plummish then, due to lack of hot cross buns.

Ooo, buns, yummy.

I was hoping to be in Warsaw for Easter because I haven't had a Polish Easter for ages and I'm curious to see how things have changed, but Easter always surprises me anyway and this year's no exception, so I'm not going to make it because I've too much to do here before I can go flying off. Wow, long sentence.

Anyway, today's supposed to be a working day and I was planning to make the boys go up ladders (to get them back for the last time they were supposed to be helping) but they're both still asleep. Lazy gits. I've been up since about 6am and I'm now debating with myself whether to go off on my own, possibly in a huff. Or should I stay put, possibly in a huff. Or maybe just not be in a huff at all.

I'm staying away from the wobbly boots after my last episode. Until I forget how sore my head was the next day that is....

I'm always too plummish btw

I reckon that being huffy is too much like hard work. I think a cup of tea, a book or a movie sounds like a better proposition.

I survived my trip round and round and round the shops..... we even came back with some money unspent which is a rarity but sadly means a trip back to the shops after school one day this week. I'm starting to think that giving her money for her birthday (which was what she wanted) wasn't after all the easy option!!

YoungPlum led me astray and although I was determined not to go overdrawn this week, I have as we bought DestructoPup a new toy, mainly because we both liked it! It makes a very funny noise when you move it certain ways or twist it - it looks like a dumb-bell thing. It's not a typical dog toy noise and it makes us giggle every time it goes. We'll have hours of fun, never mind DestructoPup. She seems to quite like it too - it looks very sturdy but I doubt it will last more than a week unfortunately!

Been looking at all the snowy pictures of UK - is it next weekend that the clocks go into british summer time?

I couldn't get huffy in the end, and they got up eventually, and even did a bit of work for me. Not a lot, mind. As I said, lazy gits. It's a good job I love 'em.

Not sure about the clocks Plummy. It's all as big a mystery to me as Easter dates.

Thankyou It takes me a while to adjust to the new time difference when it happens, not that it really makes much of a difference.

Easter is always a mystery to me too - I mean I know they can't have fixed dates as otherwise Good Friday could end up being Good Tuesday and Easter Sunday, being Easter Thursday and it just doesn't sound the same! Maundy Monday does have a bit of a ring to it though

Today, I am mostly wishing I didn't have to go to work. The refit is causing problems and stress and I really can't be bothered with it. Oh well, only another few weeks til it's all over and done with. I miss my friend who left in January, it's not as much fun without her, there's too much bitching and sniping, which leaves me in the position of just keeping my head down, helmet and flak jacket on and hoping not to get caught in the cross-fire

Was a panto thingy starring a friend of mine. It's becoming an annual tradition and it's an absolute hoot. Although the journey home wasn't We were fine until we got near the top of the M11, everything after that was horrendous. Jack Daniel's Honey consumed on arrival back home safe and sound, my reward for not losing my nerve when the road vanished

Sad is.

I hope she doesn't wake up with a tattoo.
In your dreams, buster
I'll have you know I'm an Essex girl by birth I escaped when I was 5

Plummy.... hugs, just because.

BG - there will be other Easters. And good luck with the slaves... I mean, the lazy gits

Morning all - snowed in here with a road that resembles a skating rink so I have no desire to even attempt to get the car out!

The clock change seems late this year, but how nice they take an hour away but replace it with chocolate! Easter seems to be getting earlier and earlier too - it often fell around my birthday when I was a kid but it doesn't seem to have been that late for ages. It's like Wagon Wheels, they make 'em smaller and think we won't notice

Ah fings was different back when I were a lass

Boooo - Sad, sounds rubbish. But bloody good grump though

I bribed a child to dig my car out of the snow and braved Morrisons - skated back down the road with the eldest who when we got back onto the drive (school girl error I know... it'll cost me again tomorrow...) announced loudly and dramatically with fake cockney accent: "bloody hell mother, my life just flashed before me eyes". Everyone loves a critic

I also have a snowman (woman?) on my front garden with boobs and a Newcastle Brown empty. I'm hoping it's not modelled on me

Surely one modelled on you would be holding a cocktail glass.

We've had a few snowflakes floating about and that's it really. It feels weird after years of being properly snowed in for days at a time. I almost miss it. Mostly because I'm knackered.

haha true - I think they were closer to the recycling bins and I have reminded myself recently why I was a Newky Browner in my youth

And I wonder why say no to lard isn't working
