Any excuse to have a bit of nice plonk in this house. . But we were fine today actually, and took ourselves off for a long walk through the woods.

Are you having a nice Easter weekend jra?
Not too bad thank you. Just chillin out.

I'm looking forward to the boat race tomorrow.

The Boat Race 2013.
Clare Balding introduces live coverage of the 159th Boat Race on London's River Thames, with Oxford University hoping to avenge last year's dramatic defeat to Cambridge University. The first contest took place in 1829, and has been held every year since 1856, but few races have been as incident-packed as last year's, which was interrupted by a protestor in the water. Cambridge went on to win following a restart, although Oxford were disadvantaged after suffering a broken oar in a clash of blades. This year the Oxford eight hold a 21kg weight advantage, but both crews can call upon a British Olympic medallist; Oxford's Constantine Louloudis helped the men's eight win bronze at London 2012, while Cambridge's George Nash claimed bronze in the men's coxless pair. Commentary comes from Andrew Cotter, Dan Topolski and Wayne Pommen.

Happy Easter to all my grumpy friends

My cold is progressing nicely and I've now got an evil sounding cough which I don't care about because my throat has stopped being sore. Feeling shitty still though but I can't take the day off as it's penalty rates today and tomorrow and I have some big bills coming up in a month or so (car insurance, and power) on top of the usual ones.

I didn't get my little tv yesterday as the bloomin' post shop where you pick up failed parcel deliveries was shut! Everywhere else was open but it was SHUT! oh woe!! Now I'll have to dash in after work on Tuesday. Things can never be totally straightforward can they.

jra - I used to always watch the boat race and traditionally we support Cambridge. My parents lived in the Cambridge area for a while before I was born and one of my uncles was Dean of one of the University colleges there.

When I was a student, a boat race was nothing to do with boats, oars or water.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boat_race_%28game%29

I never managed a yard though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yard_of_ale

Also, used to play this quite a lot.

I love getting too pissed to cook supper - for us it generally leads to a dirty kebab though

I'm celebrating Easter with wine and the kids' chocolate - seemed rude not to

I also won a bet with the ginger on the outcome of the Boat Race - I bet him his pocket money that either Oxford or Cambridge would win

Fuzzy Duck is perhaps the best drinking game ever. I still get it wrong even without the drink though

I can't listen to them at the mo but I saved them! I'm a student who doesn't want a real life either. Bad times!

There were plenty of fish available at the time, but I threw most of them back into the sea. Picking up was basically very easy. Welsh women in particular were all over you, especially if you were Indian, which I'm not (but generally not too much of a problem) and the clothes we used to wear would be unbelievably outrageous by today's standards. I can't imagine wearing red or turquoise trousers amongst other rad clothing, accompanied by women's jewellery (broaches etc.) nowadays, without getting seriously abused, but it was ok back in those days.

The 80's were brill. For me anyway.

Nowadays, I'm pretty boring and am a jeans and t-shirt man.

Two more for you Collette.

As I thought!

Today, we're trying to slob, but it's not working. Not sure what's wrong with us. Maybe it's all that sugar kicking in...
