He (I presume it is a he) has been singing continuously from a roof top nearby for the best part of the last three days. Is he looking to attract/find a mate for the breeding season. It's a wonderful song though.
They're territorial, and he's marking the area as his. My favourite bird song ever, except maybe for skylarks ![]() Mad Monday here - I'm back at work hobbling around on my stiff leg, finding that none of the bloody kids did a stroke while I was off. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Mr M can't get his car to move (he thinks the brakes are seized on) and has rung the breakdown service, but doesn't know how he's going to get Melony to school or what the **** is going to happen with the car. As you can imagine, he's very relaxed and tranquil about this!!! ![]() Oh - and I've just had an e-mail appear in my Inbox to say OFSTED are back in on Wednesday. It just gets better and better... ![]() Hugs to Plummie and to all the rest of you! |

That's the spirit snOwy!
Gorgeous morning here. I'm planning a home day of domestic bliss, mostly because I'm knackered and life is madly busy, so having a pause when I can seems wise. |

Morning Batty!
I vote in favour of a peaceful day at home too! Today has been a bit grrrrr and rarrrrr with a hint of mehhhh thrown in, but no woe so that's good. Small dilemma of an unimportant nature - for those of you who have read the George R R Martin Song of Ice and Fire books and have seen the series, do you think I want to watch it? I've loved the books so far and don't want to mess them up in my head if the series isn't worth it. Since it was you lot that got me to read them in the first place I would value your opinion. I'd need to get it on DVD, it is in a sale at the moment. Nothing much else is happening in my world. Still no news about my job, other than if I do move to this other department, it is likely that I'll have to change stores in a few months as they are moving and unfortunately it's into the centre of town which means I'd have to pay parking fees too. I'm taking a bit of a cross this bridge as I come to it attitude at the moment as there is a limit to how many things I can worry about at one time - having a pea for a brain is a godsend at times

Photograph in a book.
Received a book today from an Amazon Marketplace seller, containing a photograph of a guy showing his bare arse at a place called Playa Blanca, presumably used as a bookmark, with all this written on the back, dated 1985.
![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playa_Blanca The book is OK though (as new), and I'm not sending the photo back, not at RM rates these days, though for a laugh I might contact the sender/seller, regarding their oversight. However old you are, there is always a new surprise. |

That is all... ![]() Good luck with OFSTED handy, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that it all goes well. Hope everyone is doing well generally. All fine here, got some extra hours today because one of the youngsters is having a temper tantrum and has flounced, not entirely sure whether she has left the company or what. Ho hum - if she's in tomorrow it should be interesting YoungPlum was disgruntled as it meant she had a call at school to say to go to AfterSchool care rather than to the library as she had planned, but at that age, things are easily put right, all it took was me telling her she could have a hotdog for dinner and I am the BEST MUM EVAHHHHHHHHH again

No inspector so far... I'm not sure which is worse; doing loads of prep and no-one coming, or someone coming!
![]() Plummie, I look forward to seeing what you think when you've started watching it! Please let me know and we can have a good geeky chat about it ![]() (And yay for hot dogs... I'm hungry!) |

I agree with handy - Game of Thrones is very fab and hasn't done anything weird to how I remember the books.
Funny day here. After my domestic goddessing I thought I'd get on with some work, then felt all stressy and decided to read for an hour or so, then got woken up by the phone over three hours later. I now feel like I've been hit over the head with a brick.

Good morning Grumps!
Hope OFSTED went well handy, if they turned up that is! Sad - sorry to read about your sleeping woes - insomnia is a terrible thing! How did your training course go btw, the one you were writing last minute and had issues with handouts for? Bats - busy days are a pita - shouldn't be allowed - quiet lazy days rule ! I'm tired. Very tired. Only one more work day and then it's the weekend and no work for me - yayyy! I know I should want to work for the hours/money but I'm just so tired I don't think I could any more this week. The boss seems to not hate me these days, she positively twinkled at me today, so I twinkled back charmingly .... but I'm fully aware of being wary of a crocodiles smile.... it could mean "i know something you don't know" - eeeep! YoungPlum is getting some sort of award at school tomorrow, so that's cool. I bet it's for being generally an all round nice person - that's always what she gets awards for - never anything academic - not sure what to make of that
