LittlePlum loved Slade at that age but her favourite song since she was about 2 was and still is "black betty" the Spiderbait version, she used to go crazy

Greetings snowbes!
![]() Music is always good, jra, though I'm a bit of a magpie and tend to like tracks rather than bands. I shall check out Mr Garnier, as a good remix never hurt anybody (see the dubstep version of Seven Nation Army by The Glitch Mob for confirmation), but I like just about anything so long as it's done with passion rather than dollar bills. Currently circling my consciousness is the "Electronica" project, which is a history of electronic music from 1958 to the present. Lodsa of goodies. And Melony, who's four, has a thing for eighties pop hits... it's the hooks! ![]() I have some limited memories before the age of 5.I expect Laurent is paid fairly big bucks, or should I say Euros , but when you look at many of the tacky manufactured groups we have these days or premium league footballers in terms of what they are paid, it's good value for money. He's doing 2 football matches lengthwise in terms of time, for the price of one. I'd ask for a refund. Another YT comment. Quote:

I've been overcharged for around £1000 for gas and leccy, so will hopefully be getting a refund. That way I can pay my bills. Oh, the irony.

Glad you're back jra - didn't think we'd see you till next Tuesday
![]() Hope all goes well in Warsaw Bats x![]() And vodka. Yes... there was a lot of vodka involved. Seriously though - one of the toughest weeks of my life but with Sad there it was do-able and we had so many surreal experiences we didn't stand still, which is exactly what I needed. And I'm very entertained by the fact that Sad's now such a regular at a *pierogi* restaurant in Warsaw that all she has to do is walk in and they know exactly what to serve her, right down to the salads and garnishes.

I'm googling recipes for pierogi now I know how to spell it
![]() And pish - what are friends for, if not to help you sample several different flavours of vodka? ![]() KJ - it's the Bat's tale to tell, but am guessing she might need a little while to find the words to sum it up ... and her typing might not be up to it this evening

![]() KJ - it's hard to know where to start really and thinking back on the week has my thoughts bouncing around so much I doubt I can string a proper sentence together (although the amount of vodka we put away might have something to do with that jra ). The stand out moments for me are the cemetery we went to on Thursday night - it's an 'all saints' celebration in Poland and people put coloured candles on graves, which doesn't sound like much until you see it. It's a bit like this. And then there were the industrial scale vodka tasting sessions... and a very odd dinner party we were invited to by our taxi driver... and the crawling home at half past ten from the shops with so many bags I swear my arms are now longer... and sitting around in our PJ's drinking tea and doing talking therapy to keep me from going to pieces... Yup, a week I'll never forget. |

((((((BG)))))))) Today, I have been shopping with Mr Sad (doesn't happen often so is a Notable Event) and now just want to curl up and snooze. So, Skyfall tomorrow then

Went to Blackheath fireworks.
The display was very good. Afterwards, went around the fairground attractions and noticed a stand for rescued reptiles, mainly python snakes of various species, which you could touch. But, the most interesting thing there was a bearded chameleon called George (IIRC). The lady put him against my chest and he just clung on. Also, she put him on my bare hands, so I could feel his feet. That's the first time in my life that I have touched a snake, let alone a chameleon. Fascinating creatures. |

We are doing the bonfire thingy tomorrow - the dog has been very ubhappy this week so we went for a trek in Clumber Park today. Robin Hood wasn't there but hopefully he's a little more relaxed to cope with the noise for the next day or so. He won't walk outside here and goes to ground as soon as he hears a noise. You have to carry him to get him home and he's heavy. Currently he is spending a lot of time in the bath and shower- guess it feels safer.
Last Downton tonight - it's a lovely snuggly programme and I'll miss it. I'll have to try to distract myself with creepy crawlies from down under next Sunday. Really wish there was another Sunday tomorrow ...... |

Really wish there was another Sunday tomorrow ...... I'm going to miss Downton now it's over, too but at least it had a happy ending for once ![]() The weeks are rolling into each other here - I can't believe it's November, and rather wish it wasn't all going quite so quickly ![]() Oh well, early night - busy day tomorrow sorting out the daughter. It never ends...

Fascinating creatures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On the train back from London Bridge I was 'greeted' by a couple dozen of people in fancy dress costumes getting off the train. Inside the carriage there were bottles and cans everywhere. Nice. I guess these people haven't heard of bins. Also, saw a mobile fast food outlet which was basically the back end of a lorry. I guess I must get out more. Went into London again tonight, just for a few drinks with mates. Nothing particularly unusual happened, though I made a new aquaintance. If a stranger approaches you apropos of nothing, that would be me. I like having random conversations with strangers. Sometimes, it leads to something more. Gobshyte signing off. |

I forgot about Guy Fawkes night. Spent the trip to school telling LittlePlum all about it - she remembers going to firework displays but was too young at the time to know what the story was behind it. My oldest brother always used to buy all of us (including nephews/nieces) tickets for the local big display and then back to another of my brothers house for dinner after. Family tradition - I miss it!
Here nothing much is happening other than DestructoPup was apparently being good yesterday while I was chatting to someone just after we set out on our walk. However, when I looked down to praise her very goodliness, I found that she had chewed right through her lead! On the plus side she has most excellent teeth, on the downside I had to buy a new lead today, a metal one - that should fix her ![]() Batty and Sad, glad your trip to Warsaw generally went well - I should have been invited to the vodka bit - I used to do that well, *sighs wistfully*. Actually, bearing in mind my typing when I had a little drinkie the other week, perhaps it's as well I didn't Seriously though Batty, I hope you achieved whatever it was that you needed to achieve. ![]() jra - it's cool holding reptiles, especially when you think it's unlikely you ever would! The year we came over here LittlePlum and I got to hold a baby crocodile and it was a big surprise that we could! LittlePlum has since held a HUGE python wrapped round her, but I chose not to, maybe next time we go to the zoo I'll give it a try but I opted for the rather more cuddly koala It's also rather more smelly too, they stink!
