My Friday wasn't going anywhere so I went to the pictures and did some gardening. Me and deadlines are definitely starting to form a rather loose relationship.

I've just looked out of the bedroom window and it's the most stunning evening - sunlight slanting across, making all the fields and the trees look golden coloursed, grey clouds highlighting the colours, new leaves blowing in the wind. Spring's here!

Evening all

I've had a splendid day. It's Mothers Day here today in Australia and YoungPlum has been lovely and very thoughtful all day. We've had a good giggle and babbled nonsense and inadvertently come up with a most excellent title for a book for the very young. I now have two titles and no book ..... d'oh!

Amongst other things she got me a magnetic bookmark with a quote from Groucho Marx "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read". It amused me I was also reading one of her stories today, she's always writing stories.... anyway, a quote that had me in fits was "everything was quiet apart from the silent tweet of the birds" - she didn't quite think that one through did she

Speaking of literary efforts, I had a moment of pure poetry earlier as I texted YoungPlum that she was "both the light of my life and the pain in my butt" - she told me that it was funny but not motherly - d'oh! I fail again

In other news, my cold appears to be on the wane so that will be good. I'm hoping that my hours this week stay quite good but I really need a proper weekend. Working 6 days a week is good for the finances but it's playing havoc with my home life and tiredness. I'm going to keep soldiering on though as I suspect that the days of plenty are going to come to an end soon-ish with this job change thing still looming ahead on an unspecifed date. Make hay while the sun shines and all that is my motto for the time being!

Hope life is being kind to all the grumpies. Sad - keep your chin up and I'm keeping you and your friend in my thoughts etc...

I'm off to bed now, I was going to watch some of Game of Thrones but I got lost in my wanders on t'internet and now it's too late dammit!

I miss spring .... daffodils, tulips, crocuses etc... so pretty *sighs*

I'm dreading tomorrow. It's like I've hit a brick wall and I'm incapable of motivating myself to get on with it all.

Welcome to my world!

It's going to be another long week, having spent months and months struggling to squeeze hours out of the company, now it seems they can't cope without me. The assistant manager suddenly realised that I've done several six day weeks in a row and said he better give me an extra day off this week and then decided he can't!

Nothing else is happening though. Except that I've got nothing to read that I haven't read already, so I'm doing some re-reading. I could theoretically in my current temporary state of affluence buy a couple of new books but I'm sulking at the book depository in protest against poor customer service but I'm not prepared to pay australian prices, so for the time being, I'm re-reading. Principles are a terrible thing, fortunately mine are generally short-lived before I shrug my shoulders and decide life is too short and money is in too short supply to be principled

Batty, good luck with your brick wall. When I have too much to do, or at least a list of things that I don't want to do for whatever reason. I usually try and break it down into smaller tasks or one thing that I really don't want to do and give myself a reward for having done it. Chances are once you get the Batmobile rolling you'll gather steam and get through your tasks, it's just the initial impetus that's problematical.

I'm going into the transport department tomorrow, it's time to renew my drivers licence and I want to change it back to my maiden name while I'm there. Some people say it will be straightforward, others have wished me luck and told me I'll need it. Eeeep! All I know is that I begrudge paying for a licence that will only last 5 years.

Today, I am mostly suffering from dead parrot syndrome. Back to the drawing board!

The moderator has returned my drama sample (formatted and marked in exactly the same way as last year's which passed unopposed), along with a pile of spurious complaints and quibbles.
I am very, very, very angry as I now have to re-mark the whole cocking thing, including going through and putting in explicit timings for where in the performance of Grease I think different pupils hit different criteria.

handy - eek, that's early. I'm on a similar schedule, in an effort to get on top of everything. I guess we'll just have to put our rock 'n' roll lifestyles on hold for a bit. And grrr at the scumbag. I agree that they need a parrot setting on them. I've a resident-in-the-garden magpie I could rope in for the job but it's a bit of a softy - it got chased off by a collared dove the other day. I suppose I could lend you one of those but they just don't look mean enough to put the frighteners on anyone... apart from the magpie, obviously.

Little madam at work rolled her eyes at me once too often. I'd like to thump her and I'm not a violent person. She's a disrespectful two-faced little <insert insult of choice> Day in, day out, I rise above it but I'm getting to the point where only giving her a slap will make me feel better. Fortunately as well as being a not violent person, I also deep down have a sensible/practical side and I realise that hitting her will only get me into trouble. So I'm not going to do it, but that doesn't change the fact that I would like to. Karma will get her for me one day.

Handy sorry to read about your moderator woes, it's so unfair when they are inconsistent. It's somewhat ironic that the purpose of the moderator is to ensure consistency of approach etc... yet they do not follow it themselves. You know what, they should go on the slapping list! Not sure that we ought to wait for karma

Batty - I feel your pain. I have had a (self-imposed) whole day in which to procrastinate today and have done a spectacular job of it. Not for want of trying. Been organising school visits - or trying to - anyone would think they didn't actually want to encourage new pupils, since they never seem to bother calling back. That's after you've worked out which of several buttons to press.

I was even texting in German last night so count yourselves lucky. Wembley ticket has been procured. Yes, my head hurts, when the whistle blew in the pub I threw caution to the winds and had a drink or two more than planned.
