Maybe he had a scrap with some other cat, or a large rodent. I remember when Biscuit did a rat in - he came home a bit bloodied and bruised, but very proud. Couldn't get the massive thing in through the cat flap but made sure he created enough noise for us to investigate and see the trophy for ourselves.
![]() It's been a gorgeous day here - long, long walk through the woods and some elderly relative duties after that, but all very nice. The world is always a better place when the sun is shining. ![]() And tomorrow I AM GOING TO FINISH MY ACCOUNTS!!! And then I can stop going on about them and get on with the next thing on my list. |

Cats get them all the time; ours has just recuperated from one on the bum where our nasty local tom cat bit her, and her big brother used to get them on his face from killing rats/fighting. Our puss must be feeling better as she's gone out for the first time in three days. May also be to do with the fact that the sun is shining (sort of). We've been into town and had a shopping spree - Melony has more parties coming up and so we needed presents and cards and wrapping paper and some new trousers for daddy for work. It all went startlingly well - lunch in M and S, trousers from same, presents etc from Toys R Us and then a coffee and a snackette at Costa's - ouside! First time we've gone al fresco this year! |

Nah, sod it.
![]() Am wondering how our puss will be when I get home. Left her sulking and wheezing behind the sofa after manhandling her antibiotic down her throat, the silly tart. Got a fair bit of marking done but it's soooooo boooooring.... *eyes revolving gently in sockets* |

Sorry to read about the pet woes, I hope they all recover quickly! It made me smile to read "DestructoPig" though - bless her! Here DestructoPup is living up to her name and has trashed two bed cushions in the space of one day. She now has no cushion until I can sew up the other two.... fortunately her bed is on a rug so she isn't lying on hard concrete but I can't keep buying her bedding for her to destroy. Other than that and the hole that she's digging to god knows where, she's been angelic lately..... apart from the occasional drive by theft of things we leave on the outside table
I wouldn't change her though because she has a beautiful smile and quite frankly obedient dogs are just not my thing! Today <cue trumpet fanfare> is ...... ta-da-da-daaa .... my DAY OFF!! Woop woop! I have many things I should do and no intention of doing any of them. Actually, I might do some .... but maybe not. My book is calling to me as is my bed. I might have a mid-morning snooze They only gave me the day off because otherwise they'd have to pay me penalty rates at the end of the week for working more than 6 consecutive days, but it's nice to have a quiet day. YoungPlum is at school, my friend/landlady is at work so I have the house to myself.... and DP of course The sun is shining, blue skies and a high of only 28c today - beautiful weather. |

Plum, you're a bad influence on me - my book and bed are now calling me too, and I have even more excuse because it's grey and chilly here, perfect for a snoozy day doing sod all.
But that is not for the likes of me. Work to do, and I've started already, as well as working late last night, so it's starting to feel like I might actually get it done. |

jra - time you reported in too mister.
I'm getting a bit fed up with all the aerosols in GD, that nitpick many things I post, and basically treat you like a dollop of poo. It seems you can't even post a link in a GD thread these days, relative to the subject in question, without somebody coming along and stating 'we all know that already, blah blah', and/or saying they were laughing at the post, even though it was made seriously, not being a joke etc. etc. If this carries on much longer, I don't want to be posting on DS, but I'm not the sort of person to give these people the gratitude and satisfaction of making me go away, so I am going to stand my ground. Sorry, if that was a bit of a rant, but I'm pretty pissed off with some posters right now, contrary to what I said, only a few days ago. |

I didn't have my snoozelette in the end, I never sleep in the day, but I did a lot of reading, went on a wander round the shops to treat myself to something and just came back with a new top for YoungPlum, it's always the way! Been a good day though!jra - glad to see that you've resurfaced here, if you hadn't appeared soon, I was going to hunt you down! Sorry that the idiots and numbskulls are making a nuisance of themselves but glad to read that you're not going to disappear as I'm pretty sure there are more people who enjoy and/or value your input than those who are giving you grief. I thnk DS goes in cycles of stupidity with the aerosol quotient perhaps linked to the phases of the moon and the tides Hope everyone has a good day! I'm back to work tomorrow ("boo hiss" from an I'm a lazy cow perspective but "yayyy" from a financial one )

Hi Ima and others. I hope I'm now part of the scenery here and that we can in general post about our daily problems and the general struggles of life, however trivial or not, without someone coming along and trying to ridicule you, just for posting what is essentially useful information for those that may not know.
This is why I sometimes stick to the music thread I post in a lot, where nobody cares really whether the music posted is strictly in the correct genre and people don't go around saying, that's crap, that's shit etc. Somebody I PMd once a day or two ago, with a polite message, basically asking why they appear to have a problem with some of my posts, then posted in GD they had turned PMs off. That's a bit like changing your phone number, just because you get one unsolicited phone call.

Hi, jra - not seen you lately
![]() I don't go in GD, I find it's bad for the blood pressure. Dr Who forum, Cult forum and here, that's my lot! Ended up taking cat to vet, three more jabs and a pill. Still not eating, so that's three days without food. She's drinking, luckily. So tonight I got personal, mashed up half a packet of food, put her Kitty Ventolin pill in it, wrapped her in a towel, got one of Melony's old baby spoons and spooned the stuff into her. She spat a bit of it out but most of it's gone down. I've had a severe dose of Evil Looks and I was worried for a minute I'd given her a heart attack but she's sleeping it off in her blanket and i'll be back in for Round Two later this evenig if that lot stays down. She's due at the vet Friday but she'll snuff it before then if I don't get her to start eating. GAH! Hope piggy is OK, KJ Plummie, I'm dead jellus, that sounded like a fab day!

I'm a pretty tolerant person in general, but these days IRL, there seem to be so many idiots around with bad attitudes. I don't know for sure whether this due to education standards, poor upbringing and/or both. = On a brighter note, my local blackbird is still singing his heart out. Lovely song. He's singing most of the day, including the dawn chorus. I can hear him right now. = When it is next a nice sunny day, I'm going back to the local downs and see if I can spot any blue butterflies. In the meantime I think I will order an identification book. |

The bird "song" I hear most at the moment are cockatoos squawking in the morning and some weird howling birds whose name temporarily escapes me that make ghostie noises at night (no offence intended to our resident ghost -
@ sNowY). My favourite has to be the kookaburra though, as they make an awesome noise and always sound a bit like monkeys gibbering when they're in full flow As to butterflies, we get a beautiful blue one around, don't see it a huge amount near where I live but you do see them from time to time, it's the Blue Ulysses Buterfly, it's an electric blue and is stunning! I was silly last night and stayed up late watching The Voice (Australia) on t'internet as I missed it on Monday, so (a) I stayed up wayyyyyy too late and (b) it ate too much of my data allowance. I only get a piddling amount so I need to be careful about my online activities. Oh well, as the song goes "I'll survive!" ![]() Off to work shortly, will see if we are in trouble following the stock-take on Monday night. As the pidgin Latins would say "Semper in merda; sola altitudo mutat" ... we're always in the shit, it's only the depth that varies, and that is so true of the team I work in Hope you all have a good evening and sleep well when you go! I'll be sending creature healing vibes northwards while you all are in the land of nod

Hi handy. I seem to be constantly doing battle in GD these days, and I think you have mentioned before you don't post in GD, and the longer I'm on DS am beginning to realise why. The GD forum these days is just full of WUMs, trolls, sock puppets and general idiots, many of them IMO illiterate to various degrees. What they don't realise, is that my IQ is of MENSA standard, FWIW, and I frequently dumb down what I post in there in order to cater for the average idiot.
I'm a pretty tolerant person in general, but these days IRL, there seem to be so many idiots around with bad attitudes. I don't know for sure whether this due to education standards, poor upbringing and/or both. As far as birds - my garden's been discovered by a gang of starlings and they're a right bunch of hungry thugs. But I quite like their greedy ways and they do leave for long enough for the other birds to have something... and it's not like I can have an entry policy. The magpie still comes too, even though the collared doves don't like it. And Mini Cheddar, the hedgehog, still does his early evening rounds, so my *pretend pet* needs are being met.Healing vibes to all the real pets in need. (((critters))) |

Ignore the idiots.
I think of what Corporal Jones in Dad's Army always said. ![]() ~~~ (handycat) ~~~ DestructoPig's head is looking less wonky, almost level again, so maybe the antibiotics have clobbered her presumed inner ear infection. She seem to be sleeping a lot and eating a little (including some carpet I'm told). |
