There is a song for that, sung by Helen Rogers, who IMO has a stunning voice.

Direct Drive is one of Paul Hardcastle's productions.

Did you ever do 'pass the paper'? Very old fashioned these days.

Much more on Direct Drive and Paul Hardcastle in the relevant thread.

Ha ha.
The number printed on the record in the first 'Pass The Paper' link has the London number starting as 01. That long ago. I'm getting old.

Oliver didn't call. I am absolutely shattered today - went back to sleep this morning and have only just surfaced I have no idea what's the matter with me I blame the appalling lack of sunshine too.

Anyway the phone woke me up, and it wasn't Oliver. So I might want Edward's number after all, BG

In other news... I am going to spend the rest of the day de-junking and domesticating. Set an example to the teenage sloth who is also still in bed, actions speaking louder than words and all that

I texted you the number Sad, just in case.

jra - I had to Google 'pass the paper'. I wanna play!!!

Apart from that, I'm perfecting the art of being in several places at once. It's going quite well.

Basically, it is exchanging telephone numbers on bits of paper for singles that hook up and want to see each other again.

As the lyrics go. And you said pass the paper, if you want to call me. He said pass the paper, if you want to call me. (Paraphrased).

Paul Hardcastle did some excellent stuff other than 19, such as Forest Fire, Rain Forest, Moonhopper etc.

If you don't mind being a sheep, Daft Punk's #1 CD "Random Access Memories" is brilliant, and it grows on you the more you listen,

I rather like Dsft Punk, KJ. I have a soft spot for dance music generally, actually; Melony likes it and so I'm able to indulge myself in the car when she's with me (though I have to vet the lyrics!). This works well as Mr M claims to detest it, though he's partial to a lot of the 90s stuff (Underworld, The Prodigy and so forth) and I caught him nodding his head along to the Swedish House Mafia the other day!

Indoors it's usually Planet Rock (Mr M's radio station of choice) and if I'm on my own in the car it'll be Radio Two, Radio 4 or a CD of fast noisy stuff turned up Very Loudly when I'm in a bad mood. I find The Killers Hot Fuss album particularly good for this...

ETA. This song is about drugs, nothing to do with beating people.

Eek jra, I must've Googled a different game.

Morning! A domestic goddess day for me. I should be working but the mess is getting to me so I've made an executive decision to spend the day tidying up and hoovering.

Cos it's starting to sound as if I might be hosting a Grumpy Kitten Petting Party in the summer hols

I'm intrigued now - what was your grump?

batty - come and do mine when you've finished, plsthx!

jra - thanks for the link! Melony likes Warrior's Dance... she does five-year old shape-throwing in the back of the car. V funny to watch because she pulls faces appropriate to the style of the music, so Prodigy warrents Very Intense And Serious Face

Speaking of M - my nighties arrived from Boden and I have to say I'm actually pretty impressed. They arrived two days after I ordered, by Royal Mail, and the quality is fantastic. They come right down to her ankles, too, so although they cost a fair bit they'll easily do for two years. And she thinks they're great - had to try them on and then danced round the sitting room singing and posing. So a big success!

Woop woop! It's the weekend and I feel good!

Spent another couple of hours knee deep in grot after work, but the room is looking somewhat better. We still have a fair way to go - rumour has it that there is a desk buried in there somewhere, probably akin to digging down through to the Neolithic age discoveries. There are also two HUGE cardboard boxes of stuff from the old house which have been sat there for a year so we'll need to sort through that. YoungPlum has stayed true to her word though and is being ruthless and letting me throw away heaps. I can't see us being finished by the end of the weekend though. I suspect we're going to get to a stage where we need to sit back and work out sensible storage options before we can progress. Cross that bridge when we come to it though!

Apart from all that, all is well here. I had a harmless day at work, an easy dinner tonight (bacon, scrambled eggs, beans and toast) and even got some ironing done! I'm fabulous!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have a good one.

If you like woop woop, here is a Carl Cox video from the Exit Festival held annually in Serbia. An acquired taste to be sure, but hopefully you'll enjoy.

Skip in to about 1 hour 16 minutes. There is actually somebody dancing wearing handcuffs and someone wearing a facemask.

Personally, I prefer Laurent Garnier in terms of trance/techno music, rather than Carl Cox and the Prodigy.

Though, I do like Green Velvet's rap.

About 60-90 minutes before the end.

That's an excellent idea snOwy.

We've got wonderful sunshine and work to do, both Batman and I, so there's been a Big Discussion going on since breakfast - to be responsible adults, or say sod it, it's Sunday.

Hope you feel better soon sNoWy - feeling grotty at the weekend is a bit rough and shouldn't be allowed!

Batty, I think saying "sod it, it's Sunday" IS the responsible adult thing to do. This probably explains why I am in the situation I am in

I've had a fairly lazy Sunday, I managed to get a fair bit of reading done and took a drive up the coast. I had to drop into work to find out my roster for this week and found that they had wanted to call me in yesterday, but one of my older team-mates had told the boss that he better not dare do that as it was my quality time with YoungPlum and it would be wrong of him to disturb my one weekend off. She knew that if asked I would come in (a) because I like to help and (b) I can't turn down shifts but really this weekend I felt that time off was more important. She's an absolute hoot to work with, a proper old-skool aussie Sheila

Another dreary week at the metaphorical coal-face ahead, but things could be worse the store manager could be back from her holiday - but apparently she has another couple of weeks off - hurrah and huzzah!

On the "stinking pit of doom" front - we are making good progress, but there is still work to be done! Another few more sessions after school should see us clear though.
